Lee Sunho’s expression shifted slightly, and he naturally continued.

“Your condition looked serious.”

“It only looked serious. It’s not a fatal illness.”

“But you were vomiting blood nonstop.”

“If your stomach isn’t well, sometimes you vomit blood instead of food.”

“Hahaha, I see.”

I thought that was 100 percent a lie.

-Even I wouldn’t believe that.

‘I agree with that too.’

I silently agreed with Echo, curled up quietly on the bed.

Still, Lee Sunho didn’t seem like he would ask any further questions.

I sent a secret glance over my shoulder to Echo. Sensing my thoughts, Echo fluttered through the air, paddling his legs and floating over.

“I’ll be going now. I’ll find a way to repay this later. When the reward is issued, I can even add a little extra…”

Ah!

How did I forget this?

I had only been thinking about encountering the strange monster and fainting. The dungeon we participated in was an eight-person party, and two members including the party leader had been crushed to death.

I didn’t know how much of the aftermath had been handled, so I urgently asked Lee Sunho.

“What happened to the dungeon? What about the other party members?”

“I submitted the core on your behalf and completed the distribution. The amount should have been deposited to you as well, Seong Do‑yoon.”

He handed me my phone without hesitation.

When I checked, the money had indeed arrived from the association.

Furthermore, according to the special clause in the distribution rules, the boss we defeated was counted as an additional one, so 2,000 had been deposited.

“Why 2,000? What about your share, Lee Sunho?”

Normally, one boss equals 1,000. Since we defeated two, it was 2,000, but half of that was supposed to be my partner Lee Sunho’s share.

“I’m fine.”

“Fine? Give me your account.”

“I said I’m really fine.”

With that, Lee Sunho pointed down with his finger as if to say, don’t you understand from looking at this house that it’s fine?

But I was stubborn too.

If I casually let go of a promise explicitly stated in the contract, someday it would come back to tighten around my neck.

“I’m not fine, so take it. No matter the amount, promises exist to be kept.”

“Even if the recipient refuses?”

“I promised to give it. You promised to accept it.”

Finally, Lee Sunho accepted half the distribution.

Ah, that feels good.

“Thank you. I’ll repay you next time for today.”

I shoved my phone roughly into my pants pocket and lightly tapped Lee Sunho’s shoulder as I left the room. The moment I took one step, he grabbed my arm.

“Can’t you repay me today instead of next time?”

“Excuse me?”

“It’s almost meal time. If it’s okay, I thought we could have a meal together as repayment.”

This was the fastest debt collection I had ever experienced.

“I usually eat alone every day… but today feels a little lonely.”

A grown man feeling lonely?

I wanted to retort that he didn’t look lonely at all, but the corners of his eyes noticeably drooped.

“Not okay?”

He looked like a big dog with its ears drooping and whining.

I couldn’t bring myself to say no.

Also…

‘Why… does he remind me of that person?’

At this moment, Lee Sunho briefly overlapped with someone whose face I didn’t even remember.

My cute apostle who always sulked whenever I tried to log out.

‘I can’t even remember the face and I’m thinking he looks similar… soon I’ll probably say every puppy-faced guy is him.’

I clicked my tongue and lightly removed my hand from Lee Sunho’s.

“…If it’s just a quick meal.”

Lee Sunho’s eyes, which had drooped thinking I would refuse, instantly lifted. His handsome eyes curved nicely.

“Thank you. What kind of food do you like?”

“Beef jerky?”

“I meant a proper meal, not a snack.”

“Beef jerky counts as a proper meal too.”

“You’re not serious, are you?”

-Are you serious?

Not only Lee Sunho, but even Echo cut in, looking incredulous.

“I am serious.”

Why, what’s wrong with beef jerky?

It wasn’t a lie that I liked beef jerky.

If I had to choose between energy bars and beef jerky, I would naturally choose beef jerky.
