If that was the case, then in the same way, the “thing” Echo had downloaded could also be injected directly into my head.

As expected, instead of saying it was impossible, Echo nodded vigorously.

-I understand! I will prepare!

Soon, a vast amount of theoretical knowledge began pouring into my mind.

It was a cheat key for rapidly leaping to Grade 7, and even beyond.

***

Lower Promotion Exam Site, Seoul Branch.

Far more people than expected had gathered in this place, which was built as a massive circular gymnasium. Hundreds of people wearing all kinds of outfits and carrying various weapons were mixed together, and just from the atmosphere alone, it was easy to tell how fierce the competition here was.

‘From newbies to veterans, front-line and back-line alike, everyone is here.’

While quietly observing the people with my eyes, I looked toward the spectator seats arranged in a ring around the exam arena.

This place often hosted friendly matches or open training sessions between Awakeners, so the spectator seats were quite well equipped.

Most of those scattered across the wide seating area looked like reporters, but there were also a fair number of Awakeners giving off an unusual aura.

They were probably scouts who had come with the purpose of recruiting talent for clans.

“I thought they would not be very interested since it is a lower promotion exam, but the clans are really working hard.”

Pulling my gaze away from the seats, I once again looked over the examinees gathered in the arena.

“Come to think of it, I think the two people who were in Party Two back then said they were going to take this promotion exam too. Are they not here yet?”

By “back then,” I meant the Ilsan dungeon when I first teamed up with Lee Sunho.

I had heard that the raid went well and they received their rewards while I was unconscious, but for some reason, neither of them was in sight at the exam venue. They seemed highly motivated, so I thought I would meet them again here.

“The time is almost up. Why is Lee Sunho not here either?”

Since the exam hall doors were about to close, I sent Lee Sunho a message.

[You said you were taking the promotion exam today, right?]

Even as I sent the message, I felt a bit worried.

When I first met Lee Sunho, it was his first dungeon raid. After that, he had joined me two more times, but that still made only three runs.

He needed to participate in seven more dungeon raids, and I was worried whether he had managed to fill the required number within the time limit. Given how skilled he was, even if he hid being a multi-ability user, I hoped he would at least make it to Grade 8.

I stared at my phone quietly when the number “1” attached to the message disappeared.

Instead of a reply, Lee Sunho’s voice came from behind me.

“Hello, Seong Do-yoon.”

I turned around in relief, then flinched because he was much closer than expected. The tips of our noses and our bangs almost touched.

More than that, what startled me was the fact that I had not noticed him at all until he spoke right behind me.

“What kind of training did he grow up doing to have no presence at all?”

Even if the crowd had distracted me, it was unbelievable that I felt nothing.

I thought that if Lee Sunho abandoned the sword and learned assassination techniques, he would truly achieve greatness.

I took a step back to create some distance and put my phone away.

“I guess I worried for nothing.”

As I turned away indifferently, Lee Sunho lightly grabbed my arm and curved his eyes.

“Worry about me more. I like it when Seong Do-yoon worries about me.”

“Do not push yourself onto me. Why worry more about someone who arrived just fine on his own?”

When I yanked my captured arm free, the corners of Lee Sunho’s eyes drooped slightly.

That look again. The same look he had when he asked me to eat together.

“Hmm, maybe I should have been late instead.”

“If you had been, you would have been cut off at the entrance. I guess we would have met again three months later.”

“You were not planning to see me during that time?”

“If you failed, maybe. I am busy too.”

“How cold.”

Even as he acted hurt, his lips were still smiling.

Seeing him joke around so casually, it seemed this guy was not nervous at all either.

While Lee Sunho stared straight at me, he suddenly slid his hands under both of my armpits. Then he lifted me up with ease.

“…What are you doing?”

“Measuring your weight.”

“I did not know your side job was being a scale, Mr. Lee.”

“I am thinking of making it one from now on.”

Is he insane?
