I thought they might dismiss it as nonsense, but seeing Park Junggeon’s stiff expression, it seemed he had some suspicions regarding the Horizon clan.
This worked out well for my side.
“Awakened Seong Do-wan personally…”
Estelle Roland’s expression wavered violently.
Since these two aren’t part of a formal scouting team, they really lack a poker face.
In this situation, they should have remained bold, with a look that asked, “So what?”
“Um…, have you heard their terms?”
I could already see Estelle Roland’s shoulders sagging slightly.
“I kicked him out without listening.”
“What?!”
Both of their voices rang out simultaneously.
“Is that true? Even though the vice clan leader of Horizon moved personally….”
“Because it was annoying.”
“…Excuse me?”
They don’t know yet.
Then again, I recall being told that most people don’t know Seong Do-wan has a younger brother.
Even those who do know supposedly only know that he cut ties with his brother.
“Can’t you tell by our names?”
Seong Do-wan. Seong Do-yoon.
It was only after they recited the two names, which shared two identical syllables, that the two of them were startled.
“Ah! So that’s why, back then, in the spectator seats…!”
Park Junggeon’s mouth hung open in shock before he quickly covered it with his hand. He exchanged a look with Estelle Roland in that state.
I resumed my interrupted meal with a nonchalant face.
“Actually, I’m not on very good terms with my brother. That’s why I refused without even hearing the conditions as soon as I saw him.”
As I ate leisurely by myself, the two people sitting across from me listened intently.
“But thinking about it quietly, the Horizon clan is very large and famous. Since I’m the vice clan leader’s brother, I don’t think he would treat me poorly.”
It wasn’t that I had heard the terms from Seong Do-wan. Considering his personality and status, I just had the conviction that he would provide much better treatment than the conditions these two brought.
I likely wasn’t the only one who thought so.
“So, my heart was leaning a bit toward Horizon.”
It was a lie, of course, but it was more than enough for them to believe.
I looked at Lee Sunho, who was once again placing meat on top of my rice bowl. If you’re going to pile things up, could you put some vegetables on there too?
“What about you?”
I already knew Lee Sunho’s answer.
Because there was something this guy said all the time, like a broken record.
“It doesn’t matter. I’ll follow you wherever you go.”
I looked at Estelle Roland and Park Junggeon with a gaze that said, “See?”
In short, it meant that if they didn’t take me, they should give up on Lee Sunho as well.
The two seemed to agonize over it, and then Estelle Roland left her seat, saying she needed a moment.
She was likely contacting someone higher up in a hurry.
Estelle Roland returned shortly after.
“Would you happen to have time tomorrow?”
Since it was the reaction I wanted, I allowed a small smile to form on my lips for once.
“Of course. I’ll make time even if I don’t have it.”
Now then, shall we go tear something else apart instead of rice this time?

In front of the Black Tail clan headquarters, a mid-rise building standing tall in the middle of Gangnam.
While not quite as grand as the Association building, its presence was clear even from a distance.
The large fox symbol with its black tail held high on the glass exterior wall was particularly eye-catching.
As I passed through the doors and stepped inside, the unique chill of the lobby seeped into my skin.
Polished marble floors, a slowly rotating chandelier, and the Black Tail logo filling the wall behind the front counter.
It felt as though an invisible pride was permeating the air.
After scanning the building with my eyes, I walked inside alone.
I had intentionally told Lee Sunho to arrive thirty minutes late. This was because there were terms I needed to negotiate privately with the clan leader while sitting one on one.
Since the final contract terms for me and Lee Sunho were going to be different, there was no need for us to be together.
I planned to request what I wanted even if it meant reducing my signing bonus or annual salary, but since Lee Sunho didn’t want anything else, he would be able to receive upgraded conditions.
Before Lee Sunho could compromise by saying anything was fine, I intended to review the contract first and firmly secure his conditions as well.
Upon entering the lobby and giving my name to the staff at the information desk, I was immediately directed to the elevator heading to the top floor without any complicated procedures.
Before long, as I reached the top floor, a familiar face was the first to catch my eye along with the spacious hallway.
