“Welcome, Seong Do-yoon.”

It was Park Junggeon.

He was dressed in his usual casual suit style, but today, he looked somewhat more neat.

Standing next to him was a woman with a small build and short hair.

She wore a tidy black suit and a crisply ironed shirt.

Her gaze was sharp, and her movements were so precise they seemed almost stiff.

“This is Han Seorin, the Clan Master’s secretary.”

Following Junggeon’s brief introduction, the woman with short hair bowed deeply.

“I will escort you to the Clan Master.”

Her tone was short and polite.

Her expression was strictly in business mode.

Han Seorin began to lead the way.

As I followed behind her, Park Junggeon sidled up next to me and whispered.

“Why didn’t Lee Sunho come with you?”

“He’ll be about thirty minutes late.”

“So you’re going to negotiate your terms first and then tag him in?”

“No. He’s just coming here to sign. I’m going to handle the final negotiations for both of us.”

In any case, Lee Sunho’s only goal was entering the clan with me; he had absolutely no interest in money or benefits. Judging by the atmosphere, even if I funneled the entire signing bonus and annual salary to myself, he was the type of guy who would calmly tell me to go ahead.

When I answered without much thought, Park Junggeon narrowed his eyes and scanned me.

His expression contorted in a subtly strange way.

“Lee Sunho is truly odd. To let someone else handle his own leash as they please.”

“I agree with the part about him being odd. The kid isn’t exactly normal.”

I laughed it off at the end, but it was actually a fairly serious assessment.

I wasn’t quite sure why he followed me so closely either.

If someone asked if I trusted Lee Sunho 100%, the answer was obviously no.

However, he had never done a single thing to harm me so far. If anything, there were times it was burdensome because he tried to do everything for me. Now that I knew he was a human painkiller, I was the one who practically had to approach him first.

‘Is it because he doesn’t have any friends?’

The thought suddenly flashed through my mind.

Surely I’m not his first friend ever.

That would be a little pitiful.

‘…I should be nice to him.’

By the time I finished making that uncharacteristic vow and looked up, we had reached the end of the hallway.

There was a luxurious double door that stood apart in status from the other doors, and another secretary sat at a desk connected to the secretariat in front of it. Before our eyes even properly met, he stood up and showed a polite attitude, bowing his waist at a nearly ninety degree angle.

As we stood before the door, Park Junggeon took a step back.

It seemed he wasn’t going into the representative’s office with me.

“Try to compromise at a reasonable level if you can. Since I’m confident we’ll treat you well, I’d like for us to be on the same team.”

He raised his hand in a “fighting” pose and whispered with a faint smile.

It was a request that felt somewhat sincere.

I gave a light bow in return and stepped inside the office.

The moment the door opened, a wide open space came into view.

The interior was as spacious as a playground, with a harmony of high end metal and dark leather.

It was a heavy interior design mixed with black, dark gray, and hints of red tones.

In front of me sat a wide, polished desk.

Instead of sitting in the chair behind it, there was a person standing there organizing documents.

It was a woman with a sturdy build and her long hair tied up high. Clear muscles were visible on her forearms where her shirt sleeves were rolled up twice, making it obvious she possessed considerable strength.

The Clan Master of Black Tail, Woo Hyeran.

Her long eyes, which had been looking down at the documents, turned leisurely toward me. Only then did Woo Hyeran raise her head and show a refreshing smile.

“Welcome, Awakened Seong Do-yoon.”

The corners of her sharply defined lips rose wide.

The way she set down the unfinished documents as they were showed a bold composure, as if small details were for later.

She walked around the desk to stand before me and extended her hand.

Perhaps because of her presence, it felt like facing a tiger.

“I am Woo Hyeran, the Clan Master of Black Tail.”

I took the hand Woo Hyeran offered and shook it.
