Among them were clearly the system messages stating that the main story of the game, the ‘Destruction Project,’ had been canceled.

It was not just canceled arbitrarily, but because of the ‘heroes’ achievements.’

In other words, the humans, led by the heroes at the forefront, had driven out the monsters and erased the outcome called ‘Destruction’ itself.

That event had taken place twenty years ago in this world’s timeline.

I had died and poured all my remaining lifespan into blessings seven years ago, which meant a total of twenty-seven years had passed.

Even though the time it took from dying to possession felt like just a few minutes.

‘Too much time has passed.’

The original owner of this body, Seong Do‑yoon, was only twenty-seven years old.

He had only been an awakened fighter for a month.

Because of that, he only knew the basics about this world and the awakened fighters.

‘I have a lot to figure out.’

I sighed and pressed the sides of my throbbing head.

Thump-!

I turned my gaze toward the heavy sound shaking the ground. A massive monster, clutching a huge wooden club, was approaching with a menacing expression from afar.

It was the monster that had killed Seong Do‑yoon, the master of this complex maze-like dungeon.

I lifted my aching body to stand. Although various parts of my body hurt, it was not so severe that I could not move.

‘This is nothing. I can handle this.’

I moved my body lightly. It felt awkward because it was not my original body, but thanks to the skill, adapting did not seem difficult. The constant pain was bearable.

I stretched leisurely and looked at the nearly five-meter-tall monstrosity. Perhaps the boss monster was relaxed, or maybe it had judged that I did not even have the stamina to run.

Either way, this creature was definitely a very leisurely one.

Thump- thump-!

Each step radiated immense pressure. Most people would have felt an overwhelming threat strong enough to make them gag.

But that was only if they were as weak as the original owner of this body.

Having experienced all kinds of hardships in my life, it posed no real threat to me. I had also completed missions several times in the past while in a similarly weak state.

I calmly observed the monster while checking the state of the body. At the same time, I remembered the only weapon Seong Do‑yoon had.

‘With such a weak body, it’s definitely better to use a weapon than go bare-handed.’

I drew the revolver from my waist and spun the cylinder with familiar movements, confirming six bullets.

Recalling memories, I realized the extra ammunition had been left in the supplies in the room of the mid-boss.

That meant I had to survive with only these six bullets.

I could have felt despair, but instead, I found it reassuring that there were six rounds.

‘The difficulty is low, but this is doable.’

I did not know why I had returned to life in this body, but I knew exactly what I needed to do immediately.

Smash that monster and escape this place.

That was the first priority.

I had no attachment to life. I had lived enough. There was nothing more boring or horrifying than waiting for death while being unable to move a finger.

So even now, I did not particularly want to live.

But……

‘It was supposed to be a happy ending.’

They said the ‘Destruction Project’ had been canceled.

The day had come when all the monsters vanished, and even the dimensional rifts disappeared without a trace.

Even Seong Do‑yoon, born shortly after that event, knew this as basic knowledge through training.

So why was the system saying things like, ‘Your death equates to the destruction of this world,’ you crazy game.

‘How did my disciple manage to reach that ending…….’

The hero among heroes and the protagonist of this world that I had chosen.

My beloved disciple, who had struggled desperately to survive unlike me……

“…Huh?”

For a moment, I unconsciously made a blank sound.

“…What is this…?”

I touched my head with one hand. I did not have a headache or dizziness, but I reflexively held my head.

Master! I’ve been waiting for you!

Until now, that child’s voice had been so clear.

This time, you will stay for a long while, right?

The smile of that child, grinning at me.

As long as the Master is with me, that is enough.

The eyes of that child, so pure and lovely.

“Why… can’t I remember…?”

I could not remember what my beloved disciple had looked like.
