In the Name of God - Chapter 82.2
‘I’m telling you, my kid would never say something like that.’
As if he had forgotten who he was even imitating, the boy let out a monstrous shriek and struggled frantically. The shadows that had been spreading around him wavered violently as if they were going on a rampage.
Only then did Lee Sunho pull his hand out from inside my pants, letting out a small chuckle.
“That was easy.”
Lee Sunho whispered as he let me go.
“He won’t be able to think about anything but killing me now, so take this chance to go downstairs. It looks like things have been cleaned up to some extent over there.”
“You’re going to face him alone?”
I had guessed that Kwon Jeong-han had made his move. If he had moved while identifying the central axes as expected, he would have neutralized most of the monsters by now.
I needed to join up with them, finish rescuing the group, and reclaim our weapons.
That was the best course of action, but the problem was having to leave Lee Sunho here by himself.
Lee Sunho pointed the tip of his sword at the boy, who was beginning to be swaddled in shadows, and slowly led me toward the door.
“It’s just a hunch, but if you touch those shadows with your bare body, you’ll be swallowed up. You can’t face him without a weapon.”
“Is it a hunch for you, too?”
“Huh?”
The word “hunch” naturally made me think of Kwon Jeong-han, so I couldn’t help but let out a smirk.
“No, I just thought there are a lot of guys who move based on their ‘gut’ lately.”
Looking at the boy’s ferocious aura, I should have felt a sense of crisis, but for some reason, the tension felt like it was fizzling out.
Even though I laughed, Lee Sunho’s combat sense and energy perception were definitely reliable.
‘Even in my eyes, those shadows are no ordinary ability.’
As the shadows enveloping the boy grew terrifyingly thick, the black stems wriggling at his feet released a ghastly momentum that was incomparable to before.
Just as Lee Sunho said, those shadows exuded a spine-chilling pressure, as if one would be sucked in the instant even a fingertip brushed them. A warning hammered at my instincts telling me not to approach recklessly.
Staying here without a weapon in this state would only end up holding Lee Sunho back. Perhaps because of the shadows, even though I had been using Hawkeye while looking at the boy, I couldn’t even find a central axis, so my ability wasn’t particularly helpful anyway.
“…I’ll be back soon, so just deal with him for a bit. Be careful.”
“Yeah, don’t worry.”
Lee Sunho replied with a bright smile. I wondered how he could be so peaceful in front of a shadow monster that was gradually turning into a demon; I couldn’t feel a shred of tension from him.
After telling Lee Sunho once more to be careful, I quickly ran out of the room.
“God!”
As soon as I left the room, I heard the boy’s flickering cry.
I saw the shadows stretching out in a swarm to seize me, but Lee Sunho slammed the door shut, blocking the path. Seeing as the black stems that had been leaking through the gap under the door vanished instantly, it seemed Lee Sunho had sliced through the shadows in front of the door.
I looked back at the closed door for a moment and then hurried down the hallway.
There were still wooden statues of me scattered in the hall, but I didn’t give them a single look.
A wooden statue made as an imitation by someone who wasn’t even my Apostle was nothing more than a mere block of wood.
I kicked aside the scattered wooden statues without a care and headed for the lower floor in a single bound.

The boy, having retrieved his severed shadows, expressed intense rage. The shadows surrounding him swelled in size as if they would pour over Lee Sunho at any moment.
“Yoooou…! A mere human dares…!”
“If you’re going to transform, do it quickly. That’s the only way the quest will trigger.”
“What…?”
Lee Sunho scanned the boy composedly. His gaze held an indifferent light, completely different from when Seong Do-yoon was present.
“I’m not in a very good mood.”
He muttered heartlessly, with an expressionless face and cold eyes.
“I agreed to use the data from the past, but I never said a piece of trash like you was allowed to lust after him.”
However, those words were not emotionless. A coldly suppressed unpleasantness was clearly felt.
Lee Sunho deliberated for a very brief moment.
Whether he should just clean up the waste in front of him right now without waiting for Seong Do-yoon.
Of course, knowing he shouldn’t do that, he eventually decided to be patient.
That brief moment of deliberation.
The boy, feeling a ghastly terror within that gap, instinctively took half a step back.
“You… who are you…?”
“I guess you didn’t hear me.”
In an instant, black shadows burst forth from Lee Sunho. It was a massive shadow that was impossible to even compare with the boy’s.
“It’s fine. If you’re having trouble mutating, I’ll help you.”
Lee Sunho’s shadows occupied the room in an instant. Not stopping there, they swallowed the boy’s shadows as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
As if they had been one from the very beginning.
“H-how…!”
The boy, stripped of his shadows, trembled like a frightened dog.
The boy realized what these vast shadows surrounding him signified. Along with that, he realized once again who it was he had been imitating.
“You… could it be…!”
To the boy staring at him with a shocked face from behind the veil, Lee Sunho pulled up one corner of his mouth into a long smirk.
Before the boy could add anything else, Lee Sunho’s shadow forcibly pierced through his throat and entered. The body of the boy who swallowed the shadow immediately began to mutate here and there like a monster.
