Idol of the Heavenly One - Chapter 83.1
Baek Jae-heon’s eyes were wild. That was the only way to describe it. My throat was dry, and I couldn’t speak. Jae-heon’s fingers traced my jawline, then paused. We were so close that our breaths mingled. Our gazes locked, and there was no escaping it. Today, we were really going to do it. I closed my eyes, lost in the moment.
Knock, knock, knock.
Someone was knocking on the hotel door. Both of us froze.
“Who is it?”
“I don’t know.”
Jae-heon exhaled, his breath laced with frustration. Yet, he still didn’t take his eyes off me. When the knocking stopped, Jae-heon slowly leaned in towards me again. Just as our lips were about to touch.
“Hyungs! We know you’re in there!”
It was Kwon Ji-hak’s voice, his usual excited tone seeping through the door.
“It’s Ji-hak.”
“Ignore him.”
Jae-heon said in a low voice, his eyes already set on the decision.
“Hyungs are going to come out and play with us! We’ll record a vlog! Be out in 10 minutes!”
A clear demand came from the other side of the door.
…Damn.
Jae-heon’s shoulders slumped visibly. I let out a laugh, unable to believe the situation. Jae-heon ran a hand through his hair, a bit irritably.
“Let’s pretend to be asleep.”
“Okay?”
“Seriously.”
Jae-heon insisted on pretending to be asleep, ignoring everything. His childish sulk made me laugh. Laughing cooled the intense heat between us. Just moments ago, my body was tense with anticipation, but now it felt like the air had been let out of a balloon.
Eventually, we both got out of bed. Jae-heon changed into comfortable clothes, his disappointment evident. I chuckled as I changed into casual wear.
By the time all the members gathered in the lobby, the camera was already rolling. Ji-hak, holding the vlog camera, shouted enthusiastically,
“YEARZ is in Japan!”
The members cheered, “Waa!” Except for Jae-heon and me. We had just been in a heated moment, and it ended abruptly, leaving us both calm. Joo I-rip, with his usual playful expression, looked our way and commented,
“Were you two kissing in your room? Why are you both so quiet?”
The members always tried to pair Jae-heon and me up when the camera was on. They seemed to know what the fans wanted. Jae-heon didn’t even bother to respond to I-rip’s comment, leading the way out.
I tried to laugh it off but decided to stay silent. Forced laughter might give us away. In situations like this, it’s best to act like you didn’t hear anything. I-rip kept following us with the camera, but there was an unspoken rule among the members: ignore I-rip, and he’ll eventually back off.
Outside, the air was different. The humid Japanese breeze, the lights illuminating the streets. It was my first time traveling abroad, and everything felt new. The laughter of people, the lights of passing cars, and the Japanese music playing from the shops. It was more exciting than I thought.
“Hyung, this place is supposed to be really good!”
Ji-hak pointed to a restaurant, exclaiming. Go Hee-min responded, “This is a franchise. I want to go to a local spot.”
“You’re one to talk, eating franchise burgers all the time,” Ji-hak retorted.
“You wanna fight?”
“No, I concede.”
“Aww, that’s disappointing.”
Ji-hak had really improved his skills in handling the older members, especially in teasing Go Hee-min. In the end, we followed Ji-hak’s suggestion and entered a franchise ramen shop.
The ramen was decently tasty. If asked whether ramen in Japan is different from Korean ramen, I couldn’t say, as I hadn’t tried Korean ramen before. But setting that aside, the situation itself was really enjoyable. Being on an overseas trip with the members and Jae-heon felt great.
