Idol of the Heavenly One - Chapter 83.2
It felt like we were always together, working, but this time it was more like hanging out with friends. Yet, it was closer than that… but not quite family. It was a feeling hard to describe.
As we walked down the street after leaving the ramen shop, we spotted a small accessory store. Go Hee-min suggested we go in, and the rest of the members followed. Behind the glass display cases were sparkling bracelets, necklaces, and earrings neatly arranged. I thought it would be a good memory if we all matched with simple accessories.
So, I proposed to the members, “How about we all get matching bracelets?”
“Oh, that’s a good idea!” Kwon Ji-hak agreed, and the other members nodded, looking at the bracelets.
Then, Baek Jae-heon came over to me with a bracelet. It was a silver chain with small heart charms attached.
“Let’s get this one together.”
“Put it back.”
Do we need to flaunt that we’re a couple? I firmly shook my head, and Jae-heon obediently put the bracelet back.
“Hmm… What’s this?”
As we browsed, a particular bracelet caught my eye. It had a thin chain with small, elegant designs that weren’t quite flowers or crosses, spaced evenly apart. This one looked really nice, but why hadn’t anyone else noticed it? I held up the bracelet and showed it to the members.
“This one is really pretty, right?”
“Huh?”
“Yeah?”
“Haha…”
“Let’s go look at other things.”
However, the members avoided looking at the bracelet I was holding, their expressions confused. What, don’t they like it? Is it just me who thinks it’s pretty? Even as I insisted, “Come on, let’s get this one!” they all moved on to look at other things.
“Is this one not good?”
“That one? You want that?”
“Yeah, it’s cool, right?”
“Well…”
“Is it not good?”
“It’s not that…”
Jae-heon leaned in and whispered something to me. I put down the bracelet and picked up the heart bracelet Jae-heon had chosen earlier. We fiddled with the accessories for a while, but ended up not buying anything. Fortunately, the price was reasonable. After purchasing the heart bracelet, I handed one to Jae-heon. He smiled and put it on, and I quietly took out my phone.
“Looking for something?”
“Really? The original…”
“Haha. Did you notice?”
It turned out that the bracelet I had shown the members was a copy of a famous brand. Even though I don’t know much about brands, it was a bit embarrassing. If we had all worn that, it could have been a big problem. Being an idol means you have to be careful about these things, as everything you do is under public scrutiny.
Sometimes, I feel suffocated by all this, but I also think this job is amazing. You get to capture the most vibrant moments of your youth in photos and videos, and you can make a lot of money. It’s a great job. In the beginning, I made a lot of mistakes and acted impulsively, but now I’m more careful and learning.
Looking back, even if you live 50 years, then another 20, making it 70, people still keep learning. This is true in relationships and in work.
I felt like I was learning a lot. In my past life, I didn’t have a family, and I hadn’t experienced big love or shared love with someone else.
As Jae-heon carefully put the matching bracelet on my wrist, I stared at him. When I confirmed that the members were ahead and the camera wasn’t on us, I spoke up.
“You know…”
“Yeah?”
“Even after living 50 years, there are feelings you experience for the first time.”
Jae-heon smiled, his lips curling up slightly in agreement.
“And I’m happy that I can share this first-time feeling with you.”
“Sounds like a confession…”
“It is a confession.”
“…I want to run away with you just like this.”
Jae-heon’s words were ninety percent serious, ten percent joking. I laughed, “Pu-huh!” Jae-heon’s ears were already red.
“Aww, stop being lovey-dovey!”
From a distance, Kwon Ji-hak called out, annoyed, “Hurry up!”
Jae-heon and I both burst into laughter. That’s how we ended up running towards the members, both wearing matching bracelets.
