Idol of the Heavenly One - Chapter 99.2
“But I also filmed something like a youth high-teen story.”
“So what does that even mean?”
“A youth high-teen story.”
“Are you joking?”
Even Kwon Ji-hak joined in with words nobody could understand. In the end, we all burst out laughing together. Then, when they said it was time to start filming, we all entered the set together.
A few days later, there was a shoot with just Baek Jae-heon and me, without the other members. And we did a shoot similar to what Go Hee-min and Kwon Ji-hak had mentioned before. A youth high-teen style shoot.
We walked side by side, laughing while eating ice cream, and honestly, the scene could only be described as a youth high-teen story.
“Here, Jae-heon, please rest your forehead on Myeong-hyeon’s shoulder! Then, about three seconds later, Myeong-hyeon tapped his back with one hand!”
Following the director’s instructions, Baek Jae-heon leaned toward me and rested his forehead on my shoulder as if hugging me. I counted three seconds in my head and then gently patted his back with one hand.
And then the filming was over. Wearing school uniforms for the music video, I could understand why such scenes were needed. But what I could not understand was the next shot: members walking side by side without Jae-heon, then suddenly looking back to see him running toward us. I thought, isn’t Kwon Ji-hak supposed to be the main character of this music video? It was a little strange, and none of the members, including me, could understand it.
Later, just before the full album comeback showcase, when the music video was revealed, I finally understood what those weird shooting scenes had been.
The company suggested we watch it together as content, so we all gathered around a laptop, as usual, to view the music video.
It started with Kwon Ji-hak leaning against a school classroom window, eyes closed, feeling the wind. He seemed to be imagining something.
Immediately after that, Joo I-rip appeared on stage, dancing and singing. This must be Joo I-rip’s dream. It made sense—he had been a trainee for eight years, dreaming since childhood of becoming an idol and performing on stage.
Next was Go Hee-min. Since the shots appeared in age order, the next scene would show Go Hee-min’s dream.
“Huh? What is this?”
“This is it. What I was talking about.”
Then, in the next scene, school-uniformed Joo I-rip briefly held the hand of the 14-year-old middle schooler from the previous shoot. From behind, someone’s smiling mouth appeared.
“Who is that?”
“Soon-bok?”
“ISUNE.”
“ISUNE?”
“Isn’t that Jae-heon hyung?”
Everyone asked who that smiling person was, but I immediately recognized it. That mouth belonged to Baek Jae-heon. I saw it almost every day.
But why was it showing up? Before I could even guess, Go Hee-min’s dream appeared. Go Hee-min, wearing glasses, dressed neatly, seemed to be teaching students in a classroom. You could tell immediately that his dream was to be a teacher. The moment this scene appeared, every member and even the staff burst out laughing simultaneously.
“Who’s teaching who? Hee-min hyung?”
“Want to fight?”
“Starting with your mouth, huh….”
“That’s why you didn’t become a teacher…!”
Kwon Ji-hak provoked Go Hee-min, who snapped back sharply, then shouted in mock tantrum when Lee Soon-bok delivered an innocent attack. It was so cute that everyone laughed again.
“Hmm? What? Why is Baek Jae-heon showing up?”
Then Baek Jae-heon appeared. He opened the door to Go Hee-min, who was sitting alone in a dark room, and reached out his hand as if to tell him to take it. Go Hee-min looked a little hesitant for a moment, then took the hand.
“This is completely a youth story.”
“I told you back then. I said it was a youth high-teen story.”
Hearing the members chatter, my smile slowly faded. Now I finally understood what those strange intermediate scenes in the music video had been.
