May Every Wound Be Fatal - Chapter 40.2 🔞
“Please excuse me now.”
Reyna even smiled faintly, as if relieved.
After she left, Elizer slowly came to his senses.
This was not the first time Reyna had said things she did not mean. When things did not go her way, she often did not hesitate to threaten him, daring to bring up her family.
“Her Majesty the Queen is dismissing the attendants of the Queen’s Palace.”
So he thought this was another instance of that, and consistently ignored her notice that she would soon leave the palace.
“Her Majesty has boarded a carriage. What shall we do?”
And then, sure enough, she had boarded the carriage.
Elizer, who had not thought Reyna would dare to act so boldly, let out a fierce, hollow laugh.
“Truly the daughter of Leonard.”
Until then, he had thought Reyna was merely daring to play a mind game with the king. He may have wanted to believe that, but there was no room for such considerations.
“Leave her be.”
Elizer was angry at her stubbornness and did not want to move as she desired. So he intended to leave her be, whether she returned to Kaldirac, which would soon be set ablaze, or not.
He even began to think it might be for the best. A sense of foreboding, that he might ultimately not be able to kill her, had long taken root in a corner of his heart.
So, he truly intended to leave her be, whether she burned with Kaldirac or not. But…
“…Close the city gates.”
Elizer ultimately did not send Reyna back to Kaldirac. He could not.
While heading to the Queen’s Palace, his anger kept boiling over.
He could not tell if it was anger towards Reyna, who acted willfully as if flaunting that she was Leonard’s daughter, or anger towards himself for being unable to be decisive when it came to her affairs.
He felt he should not face her like this, yet he also felt that only by seeing her sitting meekly in her bedroom right away could he calm down.
He pushed the door open and entered without waiting for the attendants to open it.
Reyna was pacing the room as if she had not yet given up. She still had not removed her cloak. His relief at finding her in the room was brief, as Elizer saw red.
“Everyone, out.”
Reyna stepped back with a frightened face. Elizer did not like that.
And Reyna truly seemed to know no bounds.
“I, I wish to return to Kaldirac.”
No, this was not her making empty statements to save face. Nor was it something Leonard had ordered her to do. She genuinely wished to return to Kaldirac.
“Elizer.”
With utmost earnestness.
And Elizer thought he understood why he had been so insanely angry since earlier.
“This is the position you chose.”
Reyna could not dare to leave him.
Because she was the one who started all of this.
“Did you think you could so easily step down from the position you obtained by shedding so much blood?”
And he was the king she had chosen.
Yet now she tried to withdraw alone.
She pushed me into this hell, and now she tries to run away alone.
“How dreadful.”
That could not be. It was utterly absurd.
“…So please, cast me out now.”
It was a preposterous notion.
Elizer seized Reyna’s cloak. He tore her remaining clothes apart without care.
As the flustered Reyna pushed him and stumbled, he threw her down, climbed on top of her, and tore off his own upper garments.
“What, what are you doing?”
He unhesitatingly groped her body, which had stiffened in fear.
It was her, whom he was touching after so long. The moment he thought he no longer needed to hold back, something in his mind snapped.
After that, he was not in his right mind, just as when he first held her under the influence of medicine. Holding her, he moved his hips in a trance, freely sucking on her nape, cheeks, and tongue.
“You started this.”
Releasing inside her was a largely impulsive choice, yet he felt only satisfaction looking at her lower abdomen, swollen with his spilled seed and member.
“So endure it. You greedily climbed to this position, so don’t think of running away. Endure it somehow, Reyna.”
Reyna, who had lain with the king, could not leave Elmaril. The royal physician examined her body daily.
Elizer felt a strange sense of relief at that fact.
