However, his touch felt entirely different from that of the attendants. It was not that she sensed any ulterior motive. It was simply that his very existence seemed to elicit tension.

Reyna exhaled quietly. Her thin stomach rose and fell.

Each time it did, his Adam’s apple moved up and down as if he were tense, but Reyna, who was staring elsewhere, could not know that fact.

After carefully wiping her left arm, chest, abdomen, side, and left leg, Elizer rose to his feet. Once again, the sound of splashing water and the trickling sound of a wet towel being wrung out could be heard. Reyna stole a glance at him in that interval. The bed curtains exquisitely shadowed his face, making it difficult to discern his expression.

Elizer returned. Reyna straightened her head, pretending she had not been looking at him.

This time, he took a seat on her right side. Soon after, a large, firm, and warm hand gently took her right hand. Her gaze moved along his hand involuntarily.

Naturally, his profile came into view. His brow, as he looked down at their joined hands, was slightly furrowed.

And Reyna, realizing what he was looking at, was belatedly struck by panic.

The long red line situated along her right wrist. Elizer was looking at that scar.

Reyna suddenly shook off his hand.

Elizer looked at her with startled eyes. She faced him with a countenance even more shocked than his.

“…….”

The silence was long.

‘…Oh, what should I do?’

The moment Reyna’s pupils trembled violently and her eyebrows distorted sadly, Elizer took her hand, which was shaking unsightly, and grasped it once more. Then, he bowed his head deeply and quietly pressed his lips against the scar on her wrist.

He did it again and again, until her trembling ceased. It was as if he were telling her that everything was alright and not to be anxious. He held his lips fervently against her wrist for a long time like that. Her body, which had been stiff with tension and fear, gradually relaxed with a sense of relief.

Reyna blinked slowly. Hot tears rolled down her temples and soaked into her hair. He began to wipe her body again, and she fell into a very shallow and drowsy sleep.

When Reyna opened her eyes again, everything was finished.

She could not gauge how much time had passed. However, a bandage was meticulously wrapped around her right leg, and a soft, new gown enveloped her body.

And Elizer was dozing with his cheek resting against the edge of the bed.

Reyna, who had been watching him silently, suddenly whispered.

“I am no longer beautiful…. and even if I walk again, I might end up limping.”

He slowly opened his eyes.

“And I still do not remember you at all.”

However, Reyna was somehow no longer afraid of those wavering blue eyes directed at her.

“…I am not the woman you loved.”

“It does not matter.”

It was perhaps because she knew he would answer that way.

“…….”

Of course, Reyna did not know well who the man before her was. To think he was Elizer and not Tiberian made things even more mysterious.

Nevertheless….

When she peered into the blue eyes that held her image, a belief that he would never do anything to harm her sprang forth vividly in her heart. Setting aside all suspicion and anxiety, she wanted to believe him now. She felt as though she could.

After gazing into his eyes for a while without a word, Reyna opened her mouth before she knew it.

“I am Reyna.”

“…….”

“Reyna Wills, right?”

Then she waited for him quietly.

After staring at her for a long time with a dazed face, he finally moved his lips and whispered.

“It is Elizer. Just…. Elizer.”

He was Elizer. Not Prince Tiberian, but Elizer.

For some reason, it sounded much more wonderful than what she had heard from Allin, and Reyna felt her lips curve upward slightly.

It felt as though something had begun.
