May Every Wound Be Fatal - Chapter 68.1
“Ha…”
After taking a short, steadying breath, Reyna slowly let go of Elizer’s arms, which she had been gripping tightly.
As the arms that had been firmly supporting her body disappeared, her full weight shifted onto both legs, and her limbs began to tremble uncontrollably, regardless of her will.
It wasn’t the bones that had once been broken that were the problem—it was her muscles.
Having gone unused for months, they had weakened and didn’t recover right away; even just supporting her weight made them spasm.
Unable to control her shaking legs for a moment, Reyna looked at him with a flustered expression.
Elizer whispered quickly,
“Don’t worry. I won’t let you fall.”
Even if she collapsed like this, he would catch her. Reassured by that fact, Reyna forgot her fear.
Regaining her composure, she steadied her uneven breathing and carefully took a step. The moment her foot touched the ground, her body swayed as if she might fall at any second, but she managed to regain her balance on her own.
When Reyna lifted her gaze as if to ask, Did you see that?, Elizer quickly nodded.
With a bit more confidence, she grew bolder. Though her steps were still unsteady, she managed to keep her balance again.
Step by step, slowly, she continued forward—until before she knew it, she had taken eight steps. A new record.
Even as cold sweat poured down her forehead from enduring the pain and spasms, Reyna was overwhelmed with joy. She wanted to push herself a little further, but if she overdid it, she wouldn’t be able to move for days. Reluctantly, she reached out to him.
“Elizer—”
At once, his arms came to meet her, pulling her by the waist, and in an instant she was drawn into his embrace.
“Did you see? I walked eight whole steps.”
Breathless, she boasted against his chest. His lips came down onto her hair, as if telling her she did well.
Come to think of it, lately he seemed to be the one approaching her more often. In her good mood, Reyna wanted to cling to him a little more. When she wrapped her arms around his shoulders, his body gave a brief twitch within her embrace.
Suddenly, Reyna pulled her face away from his chest and looked up at him. Their eyes met, and as she stared at him for a few seconds, his deep navy eyes flickered faintly.
Realizing what he wanted—and in truth, she had been aiming for this very moment—Reyna suppressed a playful smile and slightly lifted her chin. Then, as if putting on a show, she closed her eyes. As though given permission, he slowly lowered his head.
Just as their noses were about to touch, Elizer hesitated for a moment before pressing his lips to her cheek.
“….”
That’s it? Still keeping her eyes shut, she waited stubbornly. Eventually, he lowered his lips little by little. Unable to endure the teasing slowness, Reina suddenly lifted her head and pressed her lips to his first.
With a soft, deliberate smack, she pulled away and immediately opened her eyes, curious about his reaction.
But Elizer was no longer so easily flustered by things like this. His eyes were instead shimmering with desire.
After that, she couldn’t tell who moved first. Before she knew it, his tongue had entered her mouth, and at some point her body was lifted, her eye level now above his.
Elizer strode forward. Even as he walked, their lips remained tightly pressed together without a gap.
He hastily pushed aside the curtain and laid her down on the bed. Even then, unwilling to part their lips, he bent over her, almost collapsing on top of her.
Seeing how unusually excited he seemed, Reyna let out a soft, breathy laugh and cupped his cheeks.
“Just… a little slower.”
The man who had been charging forward so boldly came to an abrupt halt, as if broken. His movements noticeably slowed, and Reina burst into laughter again.
Now suddenly docile, he gently kissed her cheek as if apologizing, then, as though thinking of something, gradually moved downward.
Watching where he was going, she realized—it was her side.
Reyna turned onto her side to face him, who was clinging to her waist. In response, Elizer tightened his arm around her, pulling her closer.
