Something’s Not Right About This Transmigration - Chapter 13.2
* * *
“Why am I here?”
Blink. Blink.
Frey tilted his head at the unfamiliar ceiling as he blinked.
He clearly remembered Regulus using long-distance travel magic.
He also remembered that the place had smelled quite different from the capital. After that, however, he remembered nothing at all.
The nausea from the long-distance travel spell must have made him faint.
“Where in the world is this……?”
Frey sat up in bed and looked around.
There was no opulent chandelier like the one at the ducal mansion, nor was there a soft bed. The room did not even have a candle for light, and the blanket covering him smelled musty.
Even with all the windows shut, a sound drifted through the room that might have been either the wind or a human scream.
‘Where is Regulus……?’
As Frey looked around for him, the door opened after a light knock and someone entered.
“Ah, you’re awake?”
The approaching man held his breath and swallowed when his eyes met Frey’s.
He looked extremely nervous, while also watching Frey’s reaction.
“I’m sorry you have to stay in such a shabby place. I was told that someone will come to collect you if you remain here for a few days.”
“……His Highness said that?”
“Yes. I know staying here may be a little uncomfortable……. But I’ll do my very best to serve you!”
He clenched a fist and chattered that he would go straight to the market at daybreak and buy a new blanket first.
Frey let the man’s words go in one ear and out the other as he examined him carefully.
‘This person…….’
His appearance was far too striking for someone who would merely pass through the story.
He was perhaps a little shorter than Frey.
His pink hair, bright as cherry blossoms, stood out vividly in a place like this. His paler pink eyes sparkled as though they held all the innocence in the world.
‘Pink hair……?’
As far as Frey remembered, there was only one character in the novel with pink hair.
“May I ask your…… your name?”
“Me? Ah! I’m Leo. Leo Herbert. I’m a member of the order commanded by Duke Norbert, but I belong to His Highness, so you don’t need to worry.”
“……Leo?”
“Yes! The order currently believes I’m visiting my parents on leave.”
Leo smiled brightly with an innocent face.
Frey sat before him clutching his head at the incomprehensible situation.
‘Why are you appearing here? Aren’t you supposed to be training with the order right now?’
Frey could not possibly say the words aloud. His pupils shook violently.
‘They said Leo never left the capital even once after becoming a knight. So why is someone like that here?’
And why had Samuel’s man become Regulus’s man?
“Ah! Are you uncomfortable anywhere? I’ll go to the market as soon as day breaks and buy a new blanket. If you tell me what you need…….”
While Frey agonized, Leo’s eyes shone as he chattered on.
His faintly trembling voice sounded like someone tense about receiving his first assignment. Yet the way his eyes sparkled despite it was…….
“……Cute.”
Frey had meant only to think it, but the word slipped from his mouth. Leo’s lips, which had been moving nonstop, snapped shut.
When Leo’s eyes widened and his face flushed scarlet, Frey hurriedly covered his mouth.
He had apparently spoken without realizing it.
“W-well, um, I mean…….”
“……Too.”
“What?”
“You’re…… v-very, very p-pretty too, Young Lord……!”
Leo squeezed his eyes shut and shouted as though confessing his love. Then he cautiously opened one eye to watch Frey’s reaction.
Then Leo smiled bashfully, Frey stared in a daze.
‘He’s so damn cute…….’
This one was dangerous.
Far too dangerous.
