That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 13.2
At that moment, Da-sol spoke again.
“And I’ll only say this once. I am not gay. So I will not accept confessions.”
“Yes, I’m not gay either… I will absolutely not confess… I’ll make sure you have nothing to worry about, and I’ll deliver the T-shirt through the guild…”
Jae-gyeong, strict and disciplined, hesitated but answered meticulously. Da-sol glared at him with a look as sharp as an axe and then went ahead, entering the apartment building.
Left alone, Jae-gyeong trudged back to the recycling center, finished disposing of the trash, including general waste, and then headed toward his apartment.
His mind was heavy the entire time, but in the end, he concluded it was inevitable.
‘If I were Da-sol‑ssi, I would have been angry and irritated too. It would be hard to trust me.’
Moreover, there were plenty of men who had actually hit on Da-sol. How many experiences must he have had to immediately assume that Jae-gyeong liked him and then react with such curses, threats, or intimidation?
‘I hope Da-sol‑ssi doesn’t hate me too much…’
Jae-gyeong thought sadly. But it quickly became clear that this hope was futile.
***
‘He hates me. He really, really hates me…’
Jae-gyeong swallowed and watched Da-sol, pretending not to notice him as he passed. The corridor was filled with a biting wind so strong that even the other team members widened their eyes at Da-sol’s presence.
“Oppa, is something wrong? You seem… grumpier than usual.”
Even Yoo Ri-na, who usually spoke very directly, softened her words, saying he seemed unpleasant rather than outright saying he was in a bad mood.
“What? I didn’t hear that.”
Da-sol removed one of his wireless earbuds and asked. Ri-na shook her head. It was nothing. Da-sol’s presence was so sharp and intimidating that she had lost the will to converse face-to-face.
The only person who could soften the atmosphere in times like this was Jin Jeong-eon, but he was currently inside the simulation training field with Hyeon Hee-ro, performing special training together. Hee-ro had been overseeing Jeong-eon’s abilities separately for several years.
Even Kim Ye-jin, who was somewhat close to Da-sol, had gone up to the gym for physical training.
“Ah~ I think I’ll go check out some items~”
Ri-na muttered awkwardly to herself and disappeared with lightning speed. Before long, only Da-sol and Jae-gyeong remained in the corridor outside the simulation training field.
Da-sol continued ignoring Jae-gyeong, walked down the corridor, and entered the training room with his gear. It looked like he planned to train alone.
Jae-gyeong had come intending to train with a teammate whose schedule matched his. Normally, he would politely ask Da-sol to join him, but considering yesterday’s incident, that seemed like a very poor choice.
‘Now that Da-sol‑ssi has gone into the locker room, should I go in too?’
However, if he mistimed it and met Da-sol right at the locker room entrance, it could be disastrous. Jae-gyeong fidgeted, debating whether to enter now or wait until Da-sol had fully gone inside.
At that moment, a loud male voice called out.
“Oh? You must be the new hunter, right?”
Turning around, Jae-gyeong saw a familiar hunter approaching. It was the hunter he had met at the gym yesterday. The same Tamer who had scolded Da-sol for supposedly being territorial before quickly backing down.
“Hello…”
Jae-gyeong bowed in greeting. Suddenly, the hunter draped an arm around his shoulder.
“Wow, seeing you again so soon. Nice to meet you. I’m Oh Sang-min, a hunter from New Guild 2nd Team. Tamer class.”
“Ah, yes, Tamer… nice to meet you…”
A Tamer is a class capable of summoning their own virtual animals or monsters, and they can also tame dungeon monsters. Jae-gyeong did not know which type Sang-min specialized in, but either way, it was a rare and valuable ability. In the JK Guild, Jae-gyeong had only seen one Tamer before.
“I’m Jeong Jae-gyeong. I joined the New Guild 1st Team as a Paladin Tank…”
“Ah, I know! What hunter doesn’t know Jeong Jae-gyeong? You’re famous in the community, and your ranking is top-tier too.”
Jae-gyeong did not frequent hunter communities and disliked the ranking system among hunters. He also found it difficult to respond appropriately to someone showing physical familiarity so soon after meeting.
“Thank you…”
Even so, the introverted Jae-gyeong forced a polite smile and muttered a hollow thanks.
“Did Da-sol break you again yesterday?”
Sang-min leaned close to Jae-gyeong’s ear and whispered.
