That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 14.1
Jae-gyeong thought that Sang-min was a person who was a bit touchy. He simply thought so as he pulled back slightly. Sang-min had always been popular with women and had never been involved with men sexually or romantically, so Jae-gyeong assumed that Sang-min was just someone who engaged in physical contact more boldly. Supporting this assumption, Sang-min also stepped back naturally when Jae-gyeong moved away.
“As I mentioned yesterday, Da-sol‑ssi has never been territorial. I just made a little mistake…”
Jae-gyeong answered awkwardly. He felt some resistance inwardly. Why was this person taking Da-sol’s side without knowing the full situation? Were they not on good terms? Before he could guess, Sang-min leaned close to Jae-gyeong’s ear and whispered again.
“Actually, I’ve been scolded pretty harshly by Seo Da-sol too. His temper is no joke. I understand exactly how you feel, Jae-gyeong‑ssi.”
Jae-gyeong wanted to immediately say that was not the case. But thinking back, he had indeed received a scolding from Da-sol yesterday. It was not wrong to say that Da-sol had quite the temper. But still…
“If you’re trying to gossip, I… I don’t know much about it, and I don’t want to get involved… I’m sorry…”
It felt uncomfortable to blindly talk badly about someone he didn’t know well. He did not want to speak ill of Da-sol either. There had been a definite reason for the scolding yesterday, and he did not yet know Da-sol well enough to judge his temperament. He knew just as little about Da-sol as this hunter who had come up to him, draped an arm over his shoulder, and whispered in his ear.
“Hey, don’t be upset. This isn’t gossip. I was just trying to establish some common ground. I don’t dislike Seo Da-sol either. In fact, I respect him, respect him. He’s the best among healers. Don’t you agree?”
“…Yes, that’s true…”
Jae-gyeong quickly nodded again, and Sang-min’s eyes shifted slightly. They looked like the eyes of someone spotting potential prey.
“Are you going into simulation training? Alone?”
Sang-min asked.
“Probably… yes, it looks like I’ll be going in alone…”
“Being a tank, there are limits to doing it alone. Should I join you?”
Jae-gyeong could not immediately say yes. He was extremely shy and usually avoided training with strangers. Moreover, there was something… slightly uncomfortable about this person.
“I’m a bit shy around strangers…”
Jae-gyeong mumbled. At that moment, the door of the inner locker room opened and Da-sol, now dressed in his combat uniform, appeared. He glanced coldly at Jae-gyeong and Sang-min, then disappeared alone into the simulation training room.
“Ugh, not even a greeting. I mean, he’s on a different team, but really, that’s harsh for Jae-gyeong‑ssi~”
Sang-min muttered quietly, trying to defend Jae-gyeong, but Jae-gyeong did not feel particularly grateful.
“Anyway, let’s go together. You need to change clothes, right? I’ll be in Training Room 3 first.”
Hyeon Hee-ro and Jin Jeong-eon were in Training Room 1, and Da-sol had just entered Training Room 2. So Sang-min was suggesting they train together in Training Room 3.
‘I’d rather do it alone…’
Jae-gyeong thought that, but since Sang-min moved so quickly and it felt awkward to refuse, he entered the locker room as it was. After changing into his combat uniform, he walked slowly.
Training with someone he did not know, especially a hunter not on his team, was somewhat awkward. Hunters generally did not reveal all their skills to outsiders.
‘I should just say I want to train alone… Let me get into Room 3 first…’
As Jae-gyeong thought that, suddenly a hand shot out from the side and grabbed his arm roughly.
“Ah, ah…!”
Startled, Jae-gyeong trembled and screamed. Fortunately, the simulation training rooms were completely soundproof, so no one in other rooms could hear. But the person in front of him definitely did.
“You’re going to train with that perverted guy?”
“Excuse me…?”
Jae-gyeong tried to interpret the term. ‘Nam-mi-sae’ was an abbreviation for ‘man-crazy bastard,’ and adding ‘bastard’ again made it confusing. Regardless, it was clear that Da-sol really disliked Sang-min.
“He said to train together… but—”
“That guy has bad habits,”
Da-sol interrupted Jae-gyeong, frowning. His eyes became slightly feral, with a cat-like expression, though larger and more menacing, like a wildcat.
“That thing earlier. Why are you going along with it? Do you like him? Then go ahead.”
“Ah, no! I don’t know him well! I don’t like him or anything… and I have no intention of liking or dating anyone from now on…”
