That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 15.1
Whoosh.
Da-sol’s skill that hit the ‘Shield of God’ dissipated harmlessly. Since he had not been attacking, there was no friction at all.
“…What are you doing? Did you actually think I was attacking?”
“…Eh…?”
Jae-gyeong asked with his eyes, silently seeking confirmation. Da-sol understood and let out a small, humorless laugh.
“‘Spray’ is the name of my area-of-effect healing skill. I heard you were feeling hot, so I was just trying to heal you.”
“Ah…!”
What kind of area-of-effect healing skill is called ‘Spray’? It sounded deadly, like it would release some kind of poison gas.
Jae-gyeong awkwardly lowered his head.
“I’m sorry…. I thought you were attacking because you were angry at me… And it’s a passive skill anyway….”
The relief was that it was not a skill activated by his own will. Having trained together once before, Da-sol would know that Jae-gyeong was not lying. It was truly fortunate.
The ‘Shield of God’ soon vanished. Da-sol looked at Jae-gyeong with displeasure and spoke again.
“[Spray].”
This time, aware it was not an attack, Jae-gyeong’s defensive shield did not activate. A soft, gentle, warm energy settled from the top of his head and wrapped around his entire body. It was not as strong as receiving a direct heal, but it felt very pleasant.
“…Th-thank you.”
Da-sol disliked Jae-gyeong. Yet he gave him a heal simply because he was feeling warm. No matter how unpleasant his personality appeared, he was still a healer. Jae-gyeong was deeply moved by this.
“That’s enough.”
Da-sol replied briefly, sounding annoyed, and started walking toward the training hall. At that moment, the door to the next room suddenly swung open.
“Oh? What are you doing there, Jae-gyeong Hunter? Were you talking with Seo Da-sol Hunter? I was waiting….”
Sang-min, who had come out of Training Room 3, arched his brows in disappointment and pouted his lips. Jae-gyeong automatically waved his hands to dismiss him.
“No, I… um… I was just about to enter the training hall…”
He had intended to skip training today, but there was no way he could openly say, ‘I didn’t want to train with you, so I was going home.’ That was just not Jae-gyeong’s style.
He awkwardly and stiffly turned and walked toward Sang-min. Da-sol, leaning against the door of Training Room 2, crossed his arms and looked at Jae-gyeong from above with a tilted gaze, silently challenging him.
Feeling cold sweat, Jae-gyeong wiped his temple with the back of his hand and cautiously passed Da-sol to stand in front of Sang-min. Sang-min smiled in satisfaction and then spoke to Da-sol.
“I’m borrowing the tank from Team 1, Seo Da-sol Hunter. Don’t worry, I’ll cooperate well with anyone I run with.”
It was a loaded statement, almost a provocation. Jae-gyeong felt a flicker of irritation. Why did this person dislike Da-sol so much? Listening closely, his tone was subtly unpleasant.
Jae-gyeong hesitated for a moment, intending to ask Da-sol not to let him speak like that. But before he could open his mouth, Da-sol cut in.
“Excuse me. You, Tamer of Team 2.”
“…Oh, Sang-min!”
Sang-min seemed furious that Da-sol did not know his name. Conversely, Da-sol maintained a calm expression and spoke indifferently.
“Really? But I didn’t ask. Why have you been picking fights with me since last time?”
“Fighting? Me? Wah~ What fight are you talking about? You have a strange way of hearing things, don’t you?”
“Are you harassing me and now upset because you got rejected?”
“W-what, what, what?”
Sang-min visibly froze. Jae-gyeong was also surprised. Sang-min had been harassing Da-sol? That was the reason he got yelled at? He thought of all the men who would call out Da-in, confess to her, or bring her coffee and snacks whenever possible.
“You seem to have mistaken yourself for popular just because you look like a parasitic younger brother, but I’ve never liked you. My type is innocent and gentle. Seo Da-sol Hunter is a notorious brawler, known for a nasty personality.”
Sang-min grinned maliciously, attacking Da-sol verbally. That provoked Da-sol. But this time, Jae-gyeong reacted first.
“Oh, Sang-min .”
Jae-gyeong stepped in front of Sang-min in a low, firm voice. Slightly taller than Sang-min, he exuded an intimidating presence. Sang-min took a step back.
“Apologize to Da-sol for what you just said.”
“Huh… Are you taking his side because we’re on the same team, Jae-gyeong Hunter?”
“It’s not about being on the same team or different teams. What you just said, Sang-min, calling him a ‘parasite-like younger brother,’ evaluating his appearance, commenting on your preference, and calling him a ‘brawler’ was comparing Da-in… Da-sol to others and belittling him. Therefore, an apology is appropriate.”
