That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 24.2
***
When Jae-gyeong arrived at his apartment after several days, there was, as expected, a sealed delivery box waiting for him. He picked it up and brought it inside.
Inside the box were a luxury brand shopping bag and three neatly folded T-shirts. Jae-gyeong carefully straightened the shopping bag and placed the T-shirts inside. Should he write an apology message on a card? He thought about it for a moment but felt that Da-sol would probably not even glance at a card or letter.
He cleaned the house a little, which had been empty for a few days, then took the shopping bag back to the dorm. No one was there yet. Da-sol was still probably at the gym.
‘I’ll just give him the T-shirts after we work out together,’ he thought.
Before changing into workout clothes and going down to the gym, he checked the ingredients in the fridge. Lunch would be tuna kimchi stew with fried eggs, chicken breast, and brown rice. Having finished planning the menu perfectly, Jae-gyeong went down to the basement in a slightly excited mood.
Perhaps because it was lunchtime, there were few people in the gym. He saw Da-sol sweating heavily on the treadmill and Ri-na doing strength training, probably after finishing her meal.
Jae-gyeong walked toward Ri-na first to greet her. Suddenly, someone draped an arm over his shoulder from behind.
“Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong! Seeing you again?”
“Ah… Hello, Hunter Oh Sang-min.”
It was Sang-min, a Tamer known for physical closeness. Despite the last time when Jae-gyeong had defeated him and put him through harsh training, Sang-min acted as if he had completely forgotten that incident and came up to him in a friendly manner.
“Thanks to you, Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong, my B-rank skill has improved to B+. I really appreciate it. I feel like I should give you some gifts.”
“Ah… Is that so? That’s good to hear…”
He was a rare-class Tamer, but had been somewhat clumsy in controlling his abilities, which was unfortunate. Now that his skill rank had improved, it was good news.
“I remember how much you rolled me around back then… I resented it at the time, but thinking about it now, you spent your time for my sake. I am truly very grateful.”
“Ah…”
It was not something worth such exaggerated praise. Jae-gyeong had just reacted because Sang-min had acted like Da-in used to, flirting and then being pushed away. The training incident had just extended naturally from that. At first, he had not particularly cared about Sang-min’s benefit. Later, he had worried a little, but initially, there had been no genuine thought of helping him.
“So… have you eaten lunch? Want to eat together? I know a really good place. Michelin, Michelin.”
“Uh… well… I’m already going to eat with Hunter Seo Da-sol…”
“Eh? Seo Da-sol Hunter?”
Suddenly, Sang-min’s expression changed. The arm over Jae-gyeong’s shoulder fell instantly. He scanned Jae-gyeong warily and then stared at Da-sol from a distance on the treadmill.
“No wonder you two were siding with each other the other day. Looks like you two are… getting along well?”
“Uh…?”
Jae-gyeong could not help letting out a faint laugh at such an absurd notion.
“Are you laughing now?”
Sang-min picked up on it sensitively. What he did not know was that Jae-gyeong generally treated weak people gently, ordinary people politely, but when confronted with coercive or malicious people, he would strangely become defiant. It was a bit of an inverted strong-weak dynamic.
“I am not laughing at you… I just find it funny that you interpret every relationship romantically. Getting along with me and Seo Da-sol? Truly… very amusing, but narrow-minded, Hunter Oh Sang-min… haha…”
“What… what?”
Hearing a man with an angelic, pure, and innocent face, smiling gently, sarcastically speak in a slow, calm tone confused Sang-min greatly. Was he being insulted or praised?
“I heard you are famous as Nam-mi-sae… and it seems true…”
It was indeed an insult.
“Nam-mi-sae? Me? Damn, who said that? Seo Da-sol?”
Sang-min remembered vividly the humiliation of seeing Da-sol in the guild lobby, hugging his shoulder, only to get slapped and scolded severely. He had been called in by Team 2’s leader, the vice guild master, and the guild master, one after another.
He growled, cracking his knuckles. Jae-gyeong was slightly taller, but in terms of weight, muscle, and personality, Sang-min considered himself overwhelmingly the alpha male.
“Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong, I was trying to be nice since you are new, but this is too much. You can’t talk like that. Just because you joined Team 1 right after entering the guild doesn’t mean you can act like that!”
Sang-min deliberately emphasized the last part. He could feel the eyes of the hunters in the gym focusing on them.
