“Why are you here? Since when were you here?”

As expected, Da-sol’s guard did not come down easily. He suspected that Jae-gyeong might have been stalking him. Since he had personally told him the time and place in advance, it seemed Da-sol assumed that Jae-gyeong had deliberately matched his schedule and followed him. The distrust was plainly visible in both his expression and his voice.

And in truth, that assumption was correct, so Jae-gyeong desperately had to come up with another excuse.

“Oh, you two also. Trained. Here.”

However, contrary to his intentions, Jae-gyeong started speaking in the most awkward and unnatural tone imaginable. Once his mouth opened, it would not close, and he completely lost control of himself.

“Right. Right. That is right. Yesterday, Da-sol, you told me. That you were doing mock training. With Hunter Yoon Yi-hyeon. Yes. What a coincidence. Haha.”

“Oh, really.”

Da-sol replied flatly.

“I clearly told you yesterday. And you are saying it is a coincidence that Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong ran into me here at this exact time?”

“…I. Just. Said. Something. Contradictory. I am. Sorry.”

Jae-gyeong spoke so stiffly, like a robot, that even Yi-hyeon’s expression turned strange. Yi-hyeon leaned close to Da-sol’s ear and asked in a very quiet voice,

“Could it be that Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong has some kind of debuff on him?”

Da-sol scratched his ticklish ear roughly, swatted Yi-hyeon away, and turned around.

“If being stupid counts as a debuff.”

After delivering that short, cutting remark, he left the mock training field. Yi-hyeon hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to follow Da-sol or not, then bowed politely to Jae-gyeong and ran after him. His cheerful voice called out, “Healer!” rang out as he trotted after Da-sol.

Jae-gyeong promptly slammed his head against the wall. With how often he had been hitting his head every day, he genuinely worried that his brain cells might start dying off.

“You are seriously pathetic and miserable, the absolute worst kind of person, Jeong Jae-gyeong….”

It might have been better to just say outright that he had come because he was worried. That he was curious what kind of weapon Da-sol would choose. Since he was a tanker too, would it not be better to know Da-sol’s weapon in advance and think about their coordination. That he was also curious about Da-sol’s compatibility with Yi-hyeon. And maybe, just maybe… whether Yi-hyeon had treated him badly.

If he had asked those things, Da-sol probably would not have reacted like that. And he would not have looked this stupid either. Jae-gyeong cried inwardly.

He staggered out of the mock training field. Training alone had drained his strength, but the biggest blow had come from Da-sol’s gaze and words.

But the moment he stepped into the hallway, Jae-gyeong spotted a doll-like man leaning against the wall.

“D Da-sol…?”

“You have not eaten lunch yet, right?”

“Huh? Ah, no….”

It was already well past one in the afternoon. Since he had been in the mock training field from eleven, it was only natural that he had skipped lunch.

“Then let us go.”

Da-sol said only that and walked ahead. Jae-gyeong looked around in confusion.

“Um, what about Hunter Yoon Yi-hyeon…?”

“I told him to go.”

“Why… why…?”

Because you are going to eat a late lunch with me? Jae-gyeong desperately swallowed the question he wanted to ask. Da-sol answered as if it were a bother.

“The training is over. Is there any need to see more?”

“Ah….”

That was unmistakably a very Da-sol-like answer. After hesitating, Jae-gyeong decided to ask the question he had failed to ask earlier.

“Um… Da-sol, did you perhaps… decide on the type of weapon…?”

“I figured that was why you followed me.”

At Da-sol’s words, Jae-gyeong’s face flushed red. He had already seen straight through Jae-gyeong’s intentions. And yet he still scolded him. How mean… no, that was wrong. The mean one was me. He could have asked in the dorm that evening, but instead he could not hold back and followed him all the way here, clinging like this.

Jae-gyeong’s shoulders drooped. Da-sol glanced at him and rolled his eyes.

“I am going with defensive gear. A shield similar to yours.”

Then he stopped and turned to face Jae-gyeong directly. Jae-gyeong, who had suddenly come to a halt, flinched and stepped back.

“And Jeong Jae-gyeong, what I am saying does not come from any great malice. As long as you do not make it obvious that you like me, I am not going to cause a fuss either.”

“Yes…?”

“So stop with that expression. The teary eyes and the shrinking back. It makes people feel really damn guilty.”

“Ah… I am, I am sorry….”

I did it again. Jae-gyeong’s ears turned red. This face and body of his were far too honest and transparent, showing every emotion he felt.

No. His expression darkened again. Jae-gyeong was introverted and timid, but that also meant he was used to holding his tongue and controlling his expressions. He only became this foolish in front of someone he liked.

‘No. I absolutely do not like Da-sol….’

Thinking that, Jae-gyeong clenched his jaw and met Da-sol’s eyes. Da-sol let out a dry laugh.
