That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 33.2
“Here you go again.”
“……”
This time, he really had a serious expression. Jae-gyeong felt wronged, but he did not bother to explain. Even if he did, it did not seem like Da-sol would listen.
Da-sol crossed his arms and looked down at Jae-gyeong with an irritated expression as he asked,
“Other than weapons, is there anything else you want to ask?”
“Uh… um… how was your coordination with Hunter Yoon Yi-hyeon…?”
“It was not bad. He has an aggressive style and tends to spam attacks, but he has a skill that creates a ring of flames so monsters cannot approach.”
“Ah, I see….”
“And he did not hit on me either. At least not today.”
“Oh… that is a relief….”
“Anything else? Questions?”
Da-sol tapped the floor with the tip of his shoe. His patience seemed to be running out. Jae-gyeong shook his head.
“I was mostly worried that Hunter Yoon Yi-hyeon might have bothered you… that was what I was most curious about. Since you said that is not the case… I do not have any more questions….”
At Jae-gyeong’s answer, Da-sol’s foot, which had been clicking against the floor, stopped. He also slowly uncrossed his arms. He briefly ran his tongue along the inside of his cheek, then abruptly turned away.
“Let us go eat.”
“Yes….”
“Pork cutlet?”
“Um… yes….”
‘You really like pork cutlets. And spicy pork too….’ Jae-gyeong already felt a bit sick of it, but he decided he could just order something else at the restaurant. He got into the elevator with Da-sol.
In truth, Jae-gyeong was already overwhelmed with emotion. After all, Da-sol had waited for him instead of Yi-hyeon. He had also listened patiently to Jae-gyeong’s questions. After doing all that, going to a pork cutlet place a hundred times would still be fine.
The elevator passed Basement Level 1 and arrived at the first floor. As the doors opened, Jae-gyeong stepped aside to signal for Da-sol to go out first. However, Da-sol did not move an inch.
“Da-sol… should you go out…?”
As Jae-gyeong spoke while pressing the Open button, Da-sol slapped his hand downward and pressed the Close button. The elevator doors slammed shut. Someone above must have pressed the elevator button, because the elevator they were on started going up.
Jae-gyeong looked up in confusion.
“Uh… we need to get out… why….”
“I suddenly got curious about something.”
Da-sol took a step closer to Jae-gyeong. Startled by the unexpected movement, Jae-gyeong gasped and took a step back.
“Why is it that you call everyone else Hunter Yoon Yi-hyeon, Hunter Jeong Jeong-eon, and use proper titles, but with me, you have been calling me Da-sol from the very beginning?”
Da-sol’s pink eyes looked strangely blood-red. Jae-gyeong swallowed hard. Da-sol stepped even closer. Now there was nothing behind Jae-gyeong but the wall, leaving him nowhere to retreat.
“It is strange. Why were you only familiar with me and called me Da-sol? I just realized it now, and it gives me a bad feeling.”
Jae-gyeong could not say anything. From the start, he had not given much thought to forms of address. He called Da-in “Da-in,” and since Da-sol looked exactly like Da-in, it had felt natural to call him “Da-sol” as well.
But if he explained it like that…That would make him sound like a completely hopeless lunatic.
Jae-gyeong’s face went pale. The chest he had been holding tight suddenly expanded, and an entirely inappropriate sound escaped him.
“Hic!”
“Well, well?”
“Hic! I am, I am sorry, sor… hic!”
Because Jae-gyeong was hiccupping uncontrollably, shoulders and chest jerking while he covered his mouth with both hands, Da-sol had no choice but to step back. He still stared at Jae-gyeong with eyes full of suspicion.
“Well? Your answer?”
“Hic! Th, that is… I did not really think about it… hic!”
“You did not think about it, and yet you were the only one I called Da-sol? From the very first meeting?”
“Th, there is someone from my previous workplace, hic! Wh, whose name is similar to yours… hic! And at JK Guild, we just called everyone “So-and-so, so… hic!”
Even through the violent hiccups, Jae-gyeong somehow managed to explain himself. He cobbled together an ambiguous mix of truth and falsehood. Da-sol’s fierce gaze softened slightly. It seemed to make sense to him.
“If it makes you uncomfortable, hic! From now on, I will call you Seo Da, hic! Seo Da-sol, Hunter… hic!”
“Seriously.”
Da-sol let out a hollow laugh, seemingly dumbfounded by the continuing hiccups. And at the very moment he laughed, the elevator doors opened.
“Oh? Da-sol and Jae-gyeong! What brings you up to the eighteenth floor?”
Standing in front of the elevator were Hee-ro and Jeong-eon. Hee-ro greeted them cheerfully, then froze when he looked at Da-sol, eyes widening.
“D Da-sol… are you, by any chance… la, laughing right now…? Purely?”
As Hee-ro exaggeratedly gaped, Da-sol quickly wiped his face back into a blank, dead-eyed expression. At the same time, Jae-gyeong covered his mouth with both hands and let out a loud sound.
“Hic!”
