That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 44.1
This time, Jae-gyeong was discharged fairly quickly. No one knew exactly when he would leave, but all the former team members decided to visit together, help with the discharge procedures, and accompany him home.
“While we’re at it, we might as well see Jae-gyeong Hunter’s house too. Of course, if it’s inconvenient, we won’t go inside.”
Yejin, carefully watching over Jae-gyeong in the large van, said this. Jae-gyeong smiled and shook his head.
“It’s not inconvenient at all…”
In truth, it was a bit inconvenient. He just wanted some time alone to rest.
However, on the day he expected to leave alone, having the team come together like this and take care of him was not bad. He felt grateful, and his chest tightened slightly, even bringing him to wipe away a small tear earlier. Fortunately, no one had seen it.
“I’m curious about Shintang’s house. You live in Huntrion, right? How’s it there? I heard it’s hard to get a spot…”
Ri-na leaned forward from her seat and asked. Jae-gyeong thought for a moment before answering.
“It’s not bad for living, and it’s close to the guild, which is nice. But I think the guild dorm has better facilities… it’s also quieter.”
“Is the noise between floors bad there too? They must have done soundproofing since it’s an apartment for Awakened.”
Yejin asked with interest.
“Oh, there’s no noise between floors. But since hunters live there, things keep breaking and getting damaged. So they have constant repair work.”
“Ah… okay, understood.”
Ri-na nodded solemnly and sat back down. Then she turned to the back and asked Da-sol, who was sitting in the last row.
“Then, oppa, you’d want to move, right? You don’t like noise.”
Da-sol, wearing headphones, reluctantly lifted one side to answer.
“You’re noisier.”
“Ugh…”
Da-sol said no more and put his headphones back on. Ri-na’s attention then shifted to Lee Hyeon, sitting next to Da-sol.
“But the bodyguard Hunter seems to get along surprisingly well with Da-sol oppa. That’s amazing.”
“To me, they all just seem like seniors I can learn a lot from. They’re not bothering me, so I don’t see why I wouldn’t get along.”
“The other bodyguard Hunters were really clingy to Da-sol oppa. That’s why.”
“I would never be clingy… my goal is only to become stronger.”
In fact, one reason Da-sol did not dislike or avoid Lee Hyeon was this. Lee Hyeon was similar to him. ‘I just want to get stronger! I want to be more powerful!’ That was all on his mind, making him, in a way, a simple person.
Jae-gyeong, sitting several rows ahead, perked up his ears and listened to the conversation from the back.
“So Da-sol and Yoon Yi-hyeon Hunter have gotten along well from the beginning…”
It was a different trajectory from his own, which had been awkward and misaligned from the start.
He felt a little envious of Lee Hyeon. But Jae-gyeong also felt some unfairness. Who would have expected to meet a colleague with a face identical to the woman he had had a crush on for three years? If it weren’t for that, he could have gotten along with Da-sol just like Lee Hyeon did.
Hee-ro was driving the van. Jeong Jeong-eon sat in the passenger seat, and the two of them were busy interacting as if in a world completely separate from the others in the back.
Jae-gyeong looked at Jeong Jeong-eon’s side profile with fascination. It was still surprising how calm and composed he seemed, yet when next to Hee-ro, he smiled so often, reacted to every word, and looked at him lovingly. Jeong Jeong-eon, who seemed so natural in being loved by Hee-ro, did not seem like the same Jeong Jeong-eon Jae-gyeong knew.
People in love really do look different.
Yejin noticed Jae-gyeong staring at Jeong Jeong-eon and chuckled, seeming to misunderstand something.
“Just ignore them.”
“Huh…?”
“They’re just white noise… you can think of it that way. We’re already used to it. Da-sol still seems to flare up sometimes though…”
Why would Da-sol get upset even though the guild master and Jeong Jeong-eon Hunter are dating? Could it be that Da-sol likes one of them? Jae-gyeong’s face darkened as he imagined it, and Yejin seemed to sense his thoughts, waving her hands.
“No, it’s definitely not like that!”
Yejin leaned close to Jae-gyeong’s ear and lowered her voice to explain.
“They do all sorts of crazy stuff because they’re dating. We actually call them the Lovebugs. When they’re together, they’re too lovey-dovey. Honestly, if either of them were even a little weaker in ability, they would have been kicked out of the team immediately. They do that much, I mean, all the affectionate stuff.”
“Oh… I see…”
