“Food…?”

“Lunchtime.”

That was true. But Jae-gyeong had just eaten brunch. Besides, his house was not a restaurant. Why did Da-sol keep coming to his place to eat?

Jae-gyeong hesitated with a confused expression, and Da-sol asked almost threateningly,

“Don’t you want to?”

“Ah, no!”

Whether it was about eating with him or about Da-sol personally, he did not dislike either. In fact, he was pleased, so his answer came immediately. But he had just had that conversation with Lee Hyun, and now he was about to eat alone with Da-sol… Thinking that, Jae-gyeong tilted his head.

‘But that was supposed to be just about the mock training.’

Being close privately was not something Hyun would touch, and Jae-gyeong had no reason to hold back.

With a surprisingly confident stride, he walked up to Da-sol and opened the door. He stepped slightly aside so that Da-sol could enter first.

Da-sol strode in as if he were entering his own home, hands in his pockets, and Jae-gyeong felt a warm, proud sense of contentment watching him.

“What do you have at home?”

“I actually ordered a lot from Market Collie yesterday… Do you want to take a look together?”

“Sure.”

Since Da-sol had started coming over regularly, Jae-gyeong had taken more care of his household. The fridge, once full of soju bottles and snacks, gradually filled with a variety of side dishes and ingredients, and he also bought less alcohol. Drinking would inevitably remind him of Da-in, and he might make a mistake in front of Da-sol. He had also decided to quit drinking anyway.

Even though he had eaten brunch, Jae-gyeong had another serving of spicy braised chicken with Da-sol. Da-sol declared it delicious and polished off two more bowls of rice, while Jae-gyeong enjoyed chatting about trivial things as he ate slowly.

It felt good. It was enjoyable. Sharing a meal and having a conversation with someone was surprisingly fun for Jae-gyeong, who usually did not talk much to others. He wore a soft smile throughout the meal with Da-sol.

And it was the same for Da-sol. In fact, he had been waiting in front of Jae-gyeong’s apartment ten minutes before Jae-gyeong got off the elevator. He had come down without prior notice simply assuming that Jae-gyeong would open the door.

But pressing the doorbell, knocking, and calling his name drew no response. He debated whether to call or message, then thought, ‘We didn’t even set a plan, so why should I contact first?’ Suddenly, standing outside someone else’s apartment to eat together felt strange.

He pressed the doorbell one last time and was about to head back upstairs. If the elevator had opened and Jae-gyeong had not come down, that’s probably what he would have done.

Lying the moment he saw Jae-gyeong was instinctive. He did not want to be caught waiting at an empty house for ten minutes, calling and hoping for Jae-gyeong to appear. It had become natural for them to eat together.

When Jae-gyeong opened the door casually, Da-sol felt relieved. The fact that he felt relief about it made him want to punch himself.

Why was this happening? At first, he had only intended to build some teamwork because he worried that Jae-gyeong might get hurt due to his own temper… but now it felt as if Da-sol had been tamed by Jae-gyeong. Da-sol, with his twisted personality, immediately felt upset… and he was clearly upset…

‘I also bought dumplings… tteokgalbi and some vegetables… this is spinach, this is arugula, but he said he wouldn’t eat any of it… I bought more pork cutlets, and I bought brisket for doenjang stew… oh, Greek yogurt and fruit too…’

Seeing Jae-gyeong seriously brief Da-sol about what he had bought yesterday, Da-sol’s mood immediately lifted. Knowing Jae-gyeong had bought vegetables because he seemed to eat too much meat eased a quietly building tension.

Da-sol realized that watching Jae-gyeong prepare meals and sharing a trivial conversation while eating had become a new daily routine for him.

He had completely accepted Jae-gyeong as a teammate. More than a teammate… a friend. There was something between them deeper than just teamwork. Da-sol thought this might be a kind of friendship he had never experienced before.

Of course, he was also friends with Jin Jeong-eon, Yoo Ri-na, Kim Ye-jin, and Su-hyeok. That friendship was built slowly over a long time, grounded in trust.

But the friendship with Jae-gyeong felt different. Surprisingly, Da-sol liked this kind of friendship too.
