‘Is this right…? What kind of conversation was that just now…?’

Sometimes Jae-gyeong felt like he understood Da-sol well, but at moments like this, it was as if Da-sol were an alien.

But that was natural. Da-sol himself did not understand why he had been so sensitive just now.

The emotions slowly growing between them, and what those emotions truly were, remained unclear. Both of them were still inexperienced in confronting their own feelings, and the path ahead was long.

So the next morning, the two of them went to the mock training field together again. Lee Hyun had arrived early and was waiting. His expression froze briefly when he saw Jae-gyeong, but he quickly regained his composure.

“Da-sol! Jae-gyeong!”

Lee Hyun waved both hands.

“Jae-gyeong…?”

Da-sol glanced between Lee Hyun and Jae-gyeong at the last title. Lee Hyun smiled.

“I got permission, right? I can call you ‘Hyung.’ Right, Jae-gyeong?”

“Uh… yes…”

“I can speak casually to you too.”

Then Lee Hyun lightly tapped Jae-gyeong’s arm with his fist, just enough not to hurt. The gesture alone made it look like an incredibly strong bond existed between them. Jae-gyeong simply smiled. Da-sol watched them without expression. He did not ask or comment.

“Ah, really?”

That was all Lee Hyun said before heading to the changing room to put on his combat suit.

So he doesn’t pay much attention. Jae-gyeong felt relieved, but there was also a subtle twinge of inexplicable disappointment.

Today’s mock training included Jin Jeong-eon. He had come alone to try out a new weapon made by Nam Geum-son. Hyeon Hee-ro had been busy with consecutive Hunter Bureau meetings.

“Jae-gyeong, are you getting used to the new weapon?”

“I think I’m completely familiar with it now… Jin Jeong-eon, how about you?”

“Not yet. I need more practice. I’m weak at applications. I’m not sure I’ll be fully comfortable before entering the next dungeon.”

“Of course you will. Absolutely…”

Jae-gyeong smiled shyly, showing his admiration.

Jin Jeong-eon’s new weapon was a robotic bird controlled through speech commands. It was not very large, but it could be sent to long distances via a speaker function, obeying commands for any task. Wings, arms, and legs could emerge if needed. It was almost like a transforming robot. Nam Geum-son had apparently cursed a lot while making it.

“It is an AI robot with learning functions, so the more training you do, the more useful it becomes. I need to try harder.”

Jin Jeong-eon was impressive. Jae-gyeong nodded enthusiastically, smiling as if he had just heard a wise saying.

Then Da-sol came out of the changing room with a scoffing laugh and approached them.

“You’re already handling it well and acting all modest.”

“No. Da-sol, are you getting used to the shield?”

“…Yes. Lee Hyun, let’s go!”

Da-sol answered Jin Jeong-eon carelessly and called Lee Hyun, who quickly ran to stand close beside him. Jae-gyeong stepped slightly back.

“How about training at A-rank difficulty today?”

With Jin Jeong-eon’s suggestion, the mock training began.

Thirty minutes later, the four of them, drenched in sweat, emerged from the field.

“Wow, this is amazing… Speech command is really an overpowered skill. I felt it before, but you’re incredible, Chief Jin.”

Lee Hyun gave Jin Jeong-eon a double thumbs-up. Jin Jeong-eon smiled and shook his head.

“You, Lee Hyun, have improved a lot in skill utilization as well. I was impressed. Your hard training shows.”

“Really? Thank you! Da-sol, you think so too?”

“…Uh.”

“Oh, I feel like crying… Chief Jin and Da-sol both acknowledge me!”

Lee Hyun pretended to squeeze out tears and glanced briefly at Jae-gyeong.

“But Jae-gyeong seems to have been thinking about something else today. Right?”

All three looked at Jae-gyeong. He shook his head, flustered.

“No… It’s not like that… I just felt that Chief Jin and Lee Hyun wanted to move more actively, so I held back a little…”

Jin Jeong-eon smiled serenely.

“Jae-gyeong has a side similar to Hee-ro. Thank you for your consideration today. It helped us complete the training well.”

“Ah… No… Thank you as well…”

Hearing Jin Jeong-eon’s praise, Jae-gyeong’s face flushed with pleasure, feeling recognized. At that moment, Da-sol, with his usual blunt expression, interjected.

“Training should be like real combat. What’s with all the consideration?”
