That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 61.1
Da-sol was wearing an even more displeased expression than usual. A brief silence fell at his aggressive look and tone of voice. Jae-gyeong’s shoulders slumped. Just as Jeong-eon was about to say something to Da-sol, Lee Hyeon spoke up first.
“Oh, come on, why are you being like this, Da-sol hyung? You heard what the Union President said. He said Jae-gyeong hyung was being considerate of us. Don’t be so angry.”
Lee Hyeon lightly patted Da-sol on the back. Since it was a casual touch with no real meaning behind it, Da-sol didn’t care much. No, right now, Lee Hyeon wasn’t even in his line of sight. Da-sol was looking solely at Jae-gyeong with a hostile glare.
On the contrary, it was Jae-gyeong who minded Lee Hyeon’s touch. Strangely, he felt like Lee Hyeon was provoking him. It felt exactly like the saying that the person who stops a fight is more detestable than the person who is scolding.
‘Hunter Yoon Yi-hyeon knows better than anyone why I acted that way today…’
Jae-gyeong had not forgotten Lee Hyeon’s request. He kept in mind that he wanted to become stronger for his younger siblings, that he possessed a desire for power and an admiration for high-ranking hunters, and that he would probably need more money. That was why he had acted more passively than usual today, but…
As one human to another, Jae-gyeong was slightly disappointed in Lee Hyeon. And a little… Well, he didn’t know if this was the right way to put it, but he was a bit… pouting.
Jae-gyeong slightly pouted his lower lip. He had even listened to Lee Hyeon’s request and taken a harsh scolding from Da-sol because of it, yet Lee Hyeon was only giving him a defense that didn’t even really feel like a defense, which made him feel sorrowful.
He heard Da-sol let out a scoff, sounding dumbfounded. It was clear he had noticed Jae-gyeong’s sorrow. However, before Da-sol could say another word, Jeong-eon placed a hand on Jae-gyeong’s shoulder.
“Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong, let’s have a quick chat.”
Since it was an unusual occurrence for Jeong-eon to personally strike up a conversation with someone, everyone present was surprised. Except for when he was next to Hee-ro or during meetings, he rarely met with other hunters one-on-one. It seemed to be an action taken because he was conscious of being a Spirit Word Master. For such a person like Jeong-eon to call Jae-gyeong out separately!
Jae-gyeong nodded with an expression that looked a little better than before. No matter what, if he could have a private conversation with Jeong-eon, whom he respected, it was bound to be flesh and blood for him, regardless of the content.
Da-sol fiercely glared at Jae-gyeong and Jeong-eon as they walked toward the elevator, then clicked his tongue. He left the spot without even saying goodbye to Lee Hyeon and headed to the gym.
***
The place Jeong-eon took Jae-gyeong to was, surprisingly, the 7th floor dorm. Turning up just the corners of his mouth (it seemed he was trying to give a comfortable smile in his own way), he told Jae-gyeong to sit on the sofa. Then, he sat a bit further away where the sofa curved into an L shape.
“You were quite hurt earlier because of Hunter Seo Da-sol, weren’t you?”
That was the first thing Jeong-eon brought up.
‘To be honest, it’s not just a day or two that I’ve been hurt because of Da-sol…’ Jae-gyeong tightly suppressed his urge to tattle like that and replied maturely.
“No, it’s fine…”
“What do you mean it’s fine. At first, I used to feel upset because of Hunter Seo Da-sol too. Even though he was on the side of treating me well from the very beginning.”
“Da-sol treated you… treated you well from the very beginning, Hunter Jeong Jeong-eon?!”
“Uh… since he didn’t curse at me or anything like that. And he gave me healing first.”
“Ah…”
So that counted as treating someone well. Even three years ago, Jeong-eon must have been the number one ranked hunter in the country, and on top of that, he had a scarier image than he does now, so Da-sol truly was something else.
“Hunter Seo Da-sol has a tendency to be a bit kinder to the weak.”
“The weak…?”
“When I first joined this team, I hid my identity and entered as a B rank hunter. My health wasn’t good either.”
“Ah, that’s right…”
Come to think of it, that was true. As a healer, Da-sol was sensitive to other people being in pain, and he wouldn’t have gone out of his way to act sharp toward someone quiet and gentle like Jeong-eon. In the first place, Jeong-eon didn’t seem to have any self interest regarding anyone except Hee-ro.
“Do you understand what I mean by this, Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong?”
“Yes…?”
“I am giving you a hint. A way to get closer to Hunter Seo Da-sol before the next dungeon raid. Though it has gotten much better than at first, you seem a bit uncomfortable after Hunter Yoon Yi-hyeon joined.”
How could he be so quick witted and read people’s minds so well! Jae-gyeong forgot his worries about Da-sol for a moment, filled with fanboy emotions, and looked at Jeong-eon with eyes full of reverence.
Jeong-eon said quietly.
“Pretend to be weak, Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong.”
Then Hunter Seo Da-sol will become weak toward you too. That was the hint Jeong-eon gave.
