Jae-gyeong slept for nearly half a day.

Whether it was to escape reality or to forget the pain in his heart, sleep kept washing over him. He slept without even eating, and when he finally opened his eyes, darkness had already settled around him.

Still half-asleep, Jae-gyeong picked up his phone.

The time had just passed 7 PM, but the problem was not the hour. It was the number of missed calls and accumulated HunterTalk messages.

Worse, every single one of them was from either Seo Da-sol or Yoon Yi-hyeon.

A chill instantly ran down his spine as countless possibilities flashed through his mind.

What happened while I was gone…?

He was almost afraid to check the messages.

But not checking them was even scarier.

Trembling, Jae-gyeong opened HunterTalk first.

**Seo Da-sol**

> Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong

> Jeong Jae-gyeong, answer your phone.

> Pick up the phone.

> Jeong Jae-gyeong.

> Is the reason you didn’t show up today because of Yoon Yi-hyeon?

> Hey.

> Open the door.

> You’re not home either? Are you at the dorm?

> You’re not at the dorm, either.

> Are you an idiot? I’ve never seen someone take consideration this damn far in my life.

> Even Jesus would cry at this point.

> Why don’t you change your name to Buddha? Jeong Buddha.

> Fine. Do whatever you want.

> I’m going to ask for a replacement bodyguard hunter.

That was where Da-sol’s messages ended.

He had called Jae-gyeong seventeen times.

Jae-gyeong had a rough idea of what had happened.

This time, he checked Yi-hyeon’s messages.

**Yoon Yi-hyeon**

> Jae-gyeong hyung ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

> Hyung, please answer your phone.

> Please put in a good word for me with Healer-nim ㅠㅠㅠ

> It’s not like I threatened you, hyung ㅠㅠ

> You’re not ignoring me on purpose, right ㅠ? Right?

> I really respect you, hyung. I mean it.

> I was wrong. I’m sorry. Please reply.

> You’re not getting revenge on me, are you? If that’s what this is, I think I’d be seriously pissed.

> ㅠㅠ Please just send a period or something.

> Ah, ㅠㅠ hyung!!!!! Healer-nim says he’s firing me ㅠㅠ Please help me.

That was where Yi-hyeon’s messages ended.

The number of missed calls he had left afterward was, astonishingly, forty-two.

Jae-gyeong found it amazing that he had been sleeping soundly through all this chaos. His phone must have been vibrating nonstop. How had he not heard any of it?

First, he organized his thoughts and took a deep breath.

For now, it seemed Yi-hyeon had somehow been caught asking Jae-gyeong for a favor so he could train alone with Da-sol.

That had apparently angered Da-sol.

And during that process…

The quick-witted Da-sol might have noticed Yi-hyeon’s feelings.

Da-sol was the kind of person who could tell whether someone had romantic feelings for him just by looking into their eyes.

And Da-sol had probably concluded that Jae-gyeong was the victim and sacrificial lamb in all of this.

To Yi-hyeon, whose desire to become stronger and jealousy toward Da-sol served as motivation, Jae-gyeong must have looked like someone who had been completely steamrolled in the process.

(Not that the assumption was entirely wrong…)

Jae-gyeong hurriedly got up, brushed his teeth, washed his face, and fixed his hair.

While changing clothes, he even made the idiotic mistake of trying to put both feet into the same pant leg and ended up falling to the floor.

Still, after somehow managing to make himself look presentable enough to stand in front of other people, he sprinted up the stairs and reached the twelfth floor in no time.

After catching his breath, he rang the doorbell.

A few seconds later, the door flew open.

Standing there was a terrifying Da-sol wearing an expression that was practically demonic.

Even though he was much shorter than Jae-gyeong, his presence was so overwhelming that it made Jae-gyeong’s heart shrink.

“H-hello, Mr. Da-sol. I was taking a nap, so I didn’t see them… I came as soon as I looked at my phone…”

Jae-gyeong greeted him first.

His voice was shaking terribly.

Da-sol let out a dry laugh.

“A nap?”

“Yes…! I really was sleeping!”

“Looks like it.”

That was all Da-sol said before turning and walking back into the apartment.

Jae-gyeong hesitated, unsure whether he should follow.

Then Da-sol stopped the closing door with his foot.

“Aren’t you coming in?”

The question was delivered with such venom that Jae-gyeong nearly jumped out of his skin.

“I-I am! Of course I’m coming in!”

He shouted far louder than necessary.

Immediately embarrassed by his own foolish behavior, he hurried inside while trying to hide it.

The moment he entered Da-sol’s apartment, he understood why Da-sol had believed him so easily.

Reflected in the entrance mirror, Jae-gyeong’s face was swollen all over, clearly proving that he had just woken up.

Because he had cried before sleeping, the puffiness was even worse.

I thought washing my face had helped, but looking at it now, I seriously look like a steamed bun…

Pressing his cheeks repeatedly, Jae-gyeong took off his shoes and stood awkwardly in the living room.

“Have a seat.”
