That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 65.2
Da-sol spoke calmly.
However, Jae-gyeong sensed the ominous stillness before a storm within that calmness and immediately sat down politely on the sofa.
Standing in front of him with his arms crossed, Da-sol looked down at him.
“Is it true that Hunter Yoon Yi-hyeon called you aside and asked you to skip training?”
“He didn’t put it that harshly…”
“But the content itself is true?”
“Well, yes, but wording makes a difference…”
“And it didn’t upset you?”
“…No.”
Da-sol said nothing.
Like a puppy that had done something wrong and was cautiously reading its owner’s mood, Jae-gyeong slowly raised his eyes to look at him.
Da-sol’s lips were tightly pressed together as he stared at Jae-gyeong with a frightening expression.
Jae-gyeong swallowed hard.
“It really didn’t upset you?”
Da-sol asked slowly.
Why did such a simple question sound so terrifying?
After hesitating for a moment, Jae-gyeong lowered his head.
“It did, a little… just a little, but it did upset me…”
Still, there was something he wanted to explain.
He suddenly lifted his head.
“But Hunter Yoon Yi-hyeon seems to be under a lot of pressure because of his younger teammates… It’s obvious that he wants to become stronger… and I’ve already worked together with you quite a bit, Mr. Da-sol. I thought we’d gotten somewhat closer, too… so I figured it might actually be better if the two of you handled mock training together…”
“…You think you’ve gotten closer to me?”
Instead of commenting on Yi-hyeon, Da-sol focused on that particular part.
Did I say something wrong?
Jae-gyeong’s face turned pale.
Of course. Da-sol probably could not stand the idea of another man daring to feel close to him.
Jae-gyeong quickly shook his head.
“No! Not at all! We haven’t gotten close at all, but… I just… felt that way by myself… Ah, and by getting closer, I only meant that compared to before, the distance between us felt a little smaller. Just that much…”
Oddly enough, Da-sol’s expression became even scarier after Jae-gyeong’s enthusiastic explanation.
Jae-gyeong felt like crying again.
What did I do wrong this time?
A tense silence filled with hostility and fear settled between them.
Then…
Ding-dong. Ding-dong.
The doorbell rang.
A moment later, there was a series of beeps from someone entering the door lock password incorrectly.
Reflexively, Jae-gyeong jumped to his feet.
He stepped in front of Da-sol and extended his right arm toward the entrance.
If necessary, he was prepared to use a skill and fire a shadow blade at the intruder immediately.
However, after calmly checking the intercom, Da-sol muttered a string of curses and pushed Jae-gyeong aside.
“It’s fine. I know who it is.”
“Oh… I see…”
Jae-gyeong immediately returned to his polite posture.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
Now someone was pounding on the door with their fist.
Jae-gyeong felt slightly frightened.
What kind of lunatic tries to open Mr. Da-sol’s front door like that?
Unless they had a death wish, nobody would dare do such a thing.
At least, nobody who knew Da-sol would.
“Just stay still.”
Sounding irritated, Da-sol opened the front door.
“You should’ve opened it sooner, you little brat!”
The person cheerfully said that while smacking Da-sol on the back was…
Surprisingly, someone with exactly the same face as Da-sol.
Except she was a woman.
And she had long hair.
And…
“Oh my, you have a guest? What’s this?”
“…Ms. Da-in…?”
The name slipped naturally from Jae-gyeong’s lips.
He froze completely, barely even breathing as he stared at the beautiful woman who had just entered the apartment.
He forgot to blink.
No, it felt as if everything inside his head had been bleached white.
“You know my sister?”
For perhaps the first time, Da-sol looked genuinely shocked.
Then, apparently realizing something on his own, he muttered,
“Ah, right. She used to be in the JK Guild.”
Da-in seemed to understand a beat later than Da-sol.
Her face immediately brightened.
She had recognized Jae-gyeong as well.
“Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong! Oh my goodness! I heard through the grapevine that you’d changed jobs, but don’t tell me you actually joined the Training Guild?”
She went on energetically, saying things like how she had been out of touch with current events because she was busy preparing for marriage, how she occasionally thought of him, and how nice it was to see him again.
But none of her words reached Jae-gyeong’s ears.
“So have the two of you become friends? How? Seo Da-sol seriously has no friends. Is he nice to you, Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong?”
Da-in stepped closer to him with a dazzling smile.
It was the very smile Jae-gyeong had secretly watched for three years.
Sometimes, it had even been directed at him.
Stiff as a statue, he parted his lips.
He needed to answer.
But no voice came out.
“What’s wrong? Are you sick? Suddenly…”
Looking at Jae-gyeong strangely, Da-sol walked over to stand beside Da-in, then stopped.
Jae-gyeong’s trembling eyes shifted from Da-in to Da-sol beside her.
And in that instant, Jae-gyeong realized it.
I got caught..
