[Heheuk… Why is love so difficult… Why… does the person I like not like me back… Huh… I… I… ugh…]

In the video, Jae-gyeong was crying miserably, muttering prayers to himself. Thankfully, he did not say Da-in’s name while crying. Still, there was no denying how pathetic he looked.

Jae-gyeong quietly closed the video and looked at Hee-ro and Jeong-eon. Before he could say anything, Jeong-eon quickly snatched Hee-ro’s phone and deleted the video at a shocking speed.

“I deleted it before the other team members could see it, so it should not come up again. I had also told them to delete the video that Hunter Yoo Ri-na uploaded yesterday. Hee-ro was just teasing. She is lively and carefree, after all.”

Something about the last part sounded strange, but Jae-gyeong’s thoughts were quickly scattered by Hee-ro’s apology.

“Ahaha, that’s right. Also, the former team member Su-hyeok, who was your predecessor, often sang or cried when drunk, so I’m familiar with this. I cry when I drink too. Right, Jeong-eon?”

“Yes, indeed. If this makes you uncomfortable, I will firmly instruct the team. Please calm yourself.”

Videos of drunken silliness were sometimes shared for fun among team members. The problem was that the cause of the silliness was Da-in, and Da-in’s younger sibling was on this team.

“Yes… I will also be careful…”

Jae-gyeong bowed his head.

Soon, the elevator arrived on the first floor, and the three of them headed together to the mock training room. Along the way, Hee-ro clung to Jeong-eon and acted affectionately the entire time.

Jae-gyeong secretly thought they were amazing. How much would you have to love someone for so much affection to show in your eyes, gestures, and voice?

‘Why… does the person I like not like me back…’

He remembered the familiar yet strange version of himself in the video, sobbing while drunk. Of course, he felt embarrassed, but he was deeply shocked inside.

He was a man who had never succeeded in love. Timid and weak, the most he could do when drunk was lament. That was the kind of person he was.

Even though Jae-gyeong had no talent or luck in romance, he had never been considered unattractive. In school, he had even received several secret confessions from female students.

However, the tragedy of love had begun small but persistent. Almost all the girls who confessed to Jae-gyeong were strangers or friends with no romantic feelings, so he had to reject them.

‘Is this the punishment for rejecting others’ hearts…’

Jae-gyeong had only experienced two unrequited loves. One was a girl from another school he met during a middle school field trip. The other was Da-in, whom he met at the company as an adult.

His first love from the other school only spent a single day with him, but he could not forget her and held her in his heart. Since he had someone he liked, he believed he could not casually date someone else.

Then he met Da-in at the JK Guild. She resembled his first love, so his eyes were drawn to her. As he spent each day secretly watching her, his feelings grew. Da-in had her own charm that made him like her even more.

At that moment, Jae-gyeong realized that love could grow just by quietly observing someone over time.

His first love had struck like lightning and disappeared, and Da-in, resembling that first love, caught his attention. But he only began to like her after seeing her bold and cheerful smile.

Even though he never confessed and never succeeded, Jae-gyeong had been happy liking Da-in for three years. Someone’s mere existence could bring excitement and joy and make commuting to work less unpleasant.

So even if Da-in rejected him like she did others, and married another man, he would only feel sadness, not anger. He had received more from her over three years. There were more days when he was grateful for her existence than days he spent crying.

It was natural that such precious feelings did not come often. That was why his declaration to stop pursuing love had both a subjective and objective aspect.

Meeting someone who could make him feel that way would be rare. Even observing someone for a long time and experiencing excitement and heart-fluttering emotions would be difficult and precious.
