That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 75.1
Even though Da-sol was someone he had missed so much, and even though he had gone to visit the hospital multiple times just to see him, once Da-sol actually appeared right before his eyes, Jae-gyeong was at a total loss. Hurriedly looking around, he hid behind a nearby tree. His breathing grew shallow, and his heart pounded abnormally fast.
However, hunters were capable of sensing each other’s magical energy to some degree. Da-sol let out a hollow laugh at the sight of the man who had forgotten basic common sense and was playing hide-and-seek like a child.
‘Even setting magical energy aside, does he really think that height and that build can be hidden by a tree? Is he an actual idiot?’
Da-sol considered just pretending not to see him and entering his home, but feeling miffed by the absurdity, he turned his steps around.
“What are you doing?”
“Gasp!”
“Is this supposed to be hiding?” Da-sol asked mockingly.
Jae-gyeong, who was caught the exact instant he hid, trembled uncontrollably and brought his hands together. He gave Da-sol a 90-degree bow.
“I am sorry, Mr. Da-sol…!”
“For what?”
“Because of me, you were hospitalized… sob…”
Jae-gyeong’s upper body shook as he remained bent at the waist. Da-sol asked with his dead-fish eyes:
“Are you crying right now, by any chance?”
“No… hic, no I’m not? sob, I am sorry… I am sorry…”
Da-sol let out a sigh as he looked down at the fluffy back of the head positioned well below him.
Ever since they were in the dungeon, he had been furious with Jae-gyeong. Why did he act so recklessly?
They had even gotten a matching couple item because of the heal priority, yet he went and used it to leave what sounded like a final will, and then he willfully used that sacrifice skill which the Guild Master had strictly forbidden him from using without prior consultation.
While lying in the hospital bed, the more he chewed over the situation, the more his anger flared up, driving him completely insane.
Unless it was a truly critical emergency, Da-sol never did stupid things like pouring out heals until he himself fell into danger. But this time, it really was critical and dangerous. If Da-sol hadn’t pushed himself to heal him, Jae-gyeong would have suffered a permanent disability or, due to magical energy damage, would have been unable to stage a comeback for at least several years (hadn’t even that Jeong Jeong-eon been unable to do anything for over a year?).
That was why every time he heard news that Jae-gyeong had come to visit, Da-sol stubbornly refused to see him. He felt that if he saw Jae-gyeong, his blood pressure would spike and extend his hospitalization even longer.
It was already infuriating enough that Jae-gyeong used to look at him with sorrowful, mournful eyes while projecting Da-in onto him, but now he was trying to act all noble with self-sacrifice inside the dungeon. How the fuck could I not be pissed? Thinking those thoughts, Da-sol had repeatedly thumped his own boiling chest with his fist.
Therefore, he had thought it would be best not to see Jae-gyeong for the time being. He would definitely dump his anger onto Jae-gyeong, and then Jae-gyeong would feel sad and blame himself. Oddly enough, just imagining that scenario was annoying in its own way, so he had intended not to see him for about a month, or two… maybe even three months.
Yet, seeing Jae-gyeong actually trembling behind a tree, folding himself at the waist to apologize, and letting tears drip down, his anger strangely melted away.
“Stand up,” Da-sol spoke bluntly.
Instead of standing, however, Jae-gyeong dropped to his knees right then and there. He snapped his head up and looked up at Da-sol. His tear-filled gray eyes looked silver as they caught the sunlight.
“It’s all my fault, Mr. Da-sol… Actually… inside that dungeon, I was distracted by how close you and Hunter Yoon Yi-hyeon were, so I fired the arm-cannon without knowing it was the boss monster… I am the one who put our team in danger… sob…”
“What…?”
“Because I felt jealous of Hunter Yoon Yi-hyeon… during the raid… I did something I shouldn’t have done… Because of that, you ultimately ended up hospitalized because of me, Mr. Da-sol… I am truly sorry, hic, sob, sniff…”
Jae-gyeong bowed his head again and began to sob openly. Da-sol looked down at Jae-gyeong in pure disbelief.
‘Because he felt jealous of me and Yoon Yi-hyeon being close… this gentle soul is saying he fired his weapon just to vent his anger?’
The corners of Da-sol’s mouth twitched. Life finally returned to his dead-fish eyes. For some reason, the area near his collarbone felt ticklish, so Da-sol vigorously scratched his chest. He didn’t know why, but his mood suddenly improved a bit.
“So I submitted a resignation letter to take full responsibility…”
“What? A resignation letter?”
Da-sol felt his blood run cold instantly. When Da-sol fired back sharply, Jae-gyeong wiped his eyes with his sleeve and replied in a small voice.
“But the Guild Master said no… sob…”
Without realizing it, Da-sol let out a sigh of relief. Immediately after, he yelled out angrily:
“Why would you submit a resignation letter over something like that? Is hunter work a joke to you?”
“But—”
“What do you mean ‘but’? Forget it, stand up. Let’s go upstairs and talk.”
“But still—”
“I’m hungry.”
At Da-sol’s words, a startled Jae-gyeong sniffled his nose and quickly scrambled to his feet.
“I will make some porridge for you…”
“I hate porridge.”
“You were just discharged from the hospital, so you need to eat something that’s easy to digest…”
