Furthermore, Jae-gyeong still remembered what Da-sol had said regarding his way of speaking in the past.

“But which son of a bitch dared to point out your way of speaking?”

“If anyone says anything about your way of speaking in the future, tell me.”

“I’ll go and beat them up.”

Jae-gyeong had been deeply moved back then. So, while Jae-gyeong didn’t really want to interfere with Da-sol’s tone, since he was the one ordering it…

“Mr. Da-sol….”

“Yes.”

“Could you please speak to me a bit kindly…?”

“….”

“I’m asking as a favor….”

‘Is this how you do it?’ Jae-gyeong gauged Da-sol’s reaction. He didn’t know what kind of roleplay this was supposed to be, but he wanted Da-sol to be satisfied.

Suddenly, Da-sol sighed, rested his forehead on one hand, and lowered his head deeply.

“Mr. Da-sol…?”

Jae-gyeong looked at Da-sol, puzzled, when Da-sol suddenly snapped his head up. He said, huffing and puffing.

“I will speak kindly from now on. If I don’t speak kindly, just beat the shit out of me.”

“Pardon?! B-Beat you…? But… I don’t want to beat you, Mr. Da-sol… and I think your usual way of speaking is fine anyway…?”

In fact, it was a part that differentiated him from Da-in, so it wasn’t much of a problem for Jae-gyeong. Besides, he knew Da-sol didn’t mean any malice. However, Da-sol seemed incredibly angry with himself.

“If I speak like I did before even one more time, just slap my cheek immediately. Or choke me. You’re taller than me, Jeong Mr. Jae-gyeong. Put me in a headlock, right away. Understand?”

“Uhh…”

“Answer me.”

“Umm…”

“I said, say ‘Yes’.”

“I don’t want to…. I don’t want to put you in a headlock or slap your cheek, Mr. Da-sol…”

“Ha… fuck, seriously…”

Da-sol rubbed his face roughly with both hands, then grabbed Jae-gyeong by the shoulders.

“Fine. Then I’ll be careful on my own. If you think my tone is too much, just make that same face you’re making now.”

“What kind of face am I making right now…?”

“The face of a two-month-old puppy that’s fucking pitiful.”

A… a two-month-old puppy face? What is that? That’s incredibly specific….

For Jae-gyeong, who didn’t know that Da-sol’s hobby was watching animal-related documentaries and videos, it was a very bewildering description.

However, in Da-sol’s mind, a two-month-old puppy was a creature with a very chubby pink belly, always wearing a pitiful expression, and being cute beyond words. A gentle thing that, even if you grabbed the back of its neck with one hand and lifted it up, could only dangle its plump, round four paws in the air and make “whimper… whimper…” sounds. Just now, in Da-sol’s eyes, Jae-gyeong looked exactly like that creature.

If others could peek into Da-sol’s thoughts, they would say, “You’re worse than Hyeon Hee-ro looking at Jeong Jeong-eon,” showing how completely smitten he was. However, Da-sol was not aware of this. He was genuinely worried about Jae-gyeong.

“Anyway… I understand….”

Jae-gyeong reluctantly nodded his head. Da-sol looked at him suspiciously before asking.

“By any chance, since you like me, was there anything you wanted to do if you started dating me?”

Da-sol had never asked anyone this question before. It was natural since he hated humans themselves and also hated dating, but the very way of thinking that prioritized someone else’s wishes was unfamiliar to him.

Whether it was fortunate or unfortunate, Da-sol was unaware of this too, and Jae-gyeong didn’t know if this was a first for him or not. So, Jae-gyeong naturally fell into deep thought.

“Hmm… actually, I didn’t even think I would be dating either…. Do you remember? I declared from the beginning that I wouldn’t even do something like love….”

“That’s right. Why was that?”

“Well… you know… because I kept failing at love every time…”

“Ah, Seo Da-in.”

Da-sol nodded for a moment, then stared at Jae-gyeong with sharp, fierce eyes.

“Don’t think about Seo Da-in from now on. Don’t even bring her up.”

“Yes…”

“And don’t think about that first love, that girl you said resembled Seo Da-in, either.”

“Yes…”

An awkward silence flowed. Usually, talk of past lovers between a couple is like forbidden fruit, but neither Da-sol nor Jae-gyeong, both new to dating, thought deeply about that point. Da-sol crossed his arms and asked.

“But what exactly did that first love look like anyway?”

“You just told me not to think about her…”

“This is me asking, so it’s fine.”

“Uh… just… she looks similar to Ms. Da-in and you, Mr. Da-sol. If I had to choose, she looked more similar to you, Mr. Da-sol…. Since she had a short cut too….”

At those words, Da-sol became thoroughly offended. Jae-gyeong realized it immediately and looked away.

“I don’t want to talk about it anymore…”

“No, talk. It’s interesting. I’m curious. Keep going.”

Da-sol said, pretending to be cool. Without knowing that “first love” is a Pandora’s box that should never, ever be opened.
