“He’s definitely a striver. Whether it’s the fact that he kept trying to act close to me or Jeong Mr. Jae-gyeong by calling us ‘hyung’, or the fact that he was the one who suggested increasing our training frequency…. I don’t really dislike kids like that.”

However, Da-sol’s expression and voice changed like a ghost immediately after.

“As long as he doesn’t fall for me.”

The tone was so chilling that goosebumps rose along Jae-gyeong’s spine. He rolled his eyes slightly to steal a glance at Da-sol’s face. Da-sol was currently overflowing with rage.

“Lee Hyeon’s eyes have changed. The way he kept picking at Jeong Mr. Jae-gyeong, and everything else—I’m liking him less and less. What am I supposed to do about this bodyguard position? Every single bastard who comes along ends up being a piece of shit.”

“….”

Jae-gyeong gulped. Even though he knew the insults weren’t directed at him, it was so terrifying that he felt an urge to cross himself.

“If you don’t like Lee Hyeon either, Jeong Mr. Jae-gyeong, just tell me immediately. There are piles of people who would kill to be my bodyguard. Next time, I’ll just get a female hunter… ah, but women aren’t any different. They all get distracted by my appearance and don’t do their jobs properly.”

Da-sol, who had received countless confessions from women as well, grumbled irritably. At first, Jae-gyeong’s heart had been trembling with fear, but as Da-sol talked, he gradually started to calm down. He opened his mouth quietly, but with a pure, naive curiosity, as if he genuinely wanted to know.

“Um, Mr. Da-sol….”

“Yes?”

“How many confessions have you actually received…? Did they all pursue you as aggressively as you make it sound…?”

“………….”

Suddenly, Da-sol shut his mouth tight. He felt it instinctively: if he said the wrong thing here, Jae-gyeong might cry. And Da-sol didn’t want to see Jae-gyeong cry. He wanted to see him cry because of him even less.

“…I don’t know how many it’s been, but no, the people who confessed to me were people I’d barely even spoken to. Men or women. They just looked at my face… and liked me in a superficial way. It wasn’t like they actually liked me for who I am.”

He started his explanation calmly, but somehow, it kept turning into a justification.

Da-sol’s body tilted closer to Jae-gyeong. He had originally been trying to compliment Jae-gyeong, so how did things end up like this? Why was he feeling so anxious and even afraid?

“I told you. When I was younger, women just saw my face and tried confessing on a whim… but once it became clear my height wasn’t going to grow anymore, they didn’t show as much interest.”

Honestly, there was a tiny lie mixed in there. With a face like Da-sol’s, even if he were short, he would naturally be tagged with labels like “keyring man,” “baby,” or “youthful beauty.” Since he possessed a level of beauty rarely seen in the first place, there were quite a few women who decided they could overlook his height.

In fact, shorter women would often tell Da-sol nonsense like, “No, you’re tall! Look, there’s this much of a difference between us~.” But Jae-gyeong didn’t need to know that.

“And you don’t even need me to tell you about the men, right? Those assholes, they just look at my face and treat me like a walking hole. ‘If it’s you, I don’t mind being gay’ or whatever, what’s the point of paying attention to those idiots who only spew out dog-shit nonsense? I’ve already smashed the testicles of those bastards, so don’t worry about them.”

He couldn’t have been more sincere than when he was talking about the men. Da-sol comforted Jae-gyeong with a burning, undisguisable hatred.

“You and other people are not comparable, Jeong Mr. Jae-gyeong. Even if I’ve received hundreds of confessions, none of those people are by my side right now. Except for you.”

Jae-gyeong’s expression was enigmatic. It was hard to tell if he was happy or unhappy, which made Da-sol even more desperate.

“I’m just going to fire Lee Hyeon. Now that I think about it, he’s already realized I’ve seen through his true feelings, and he says he’ll ‘clear his head,’ but how can I trust him? I’ll tell the Guild Master first thing tomorrow.”

As soon as those words came out, Jae-gyeong’s face brightened much more than before. Only then did Da-sol realize that this was the correct answer.

Lacking social skills, uninterested in what others thought, and having never dated before, Da-sol hadn’t been able to grasp it immediately. The fact that Jae-gyeong had been jealous of Lee Hyeon.

…Jealousy. Jealousy, huh.

Da-sol’s face, which had been frozen for a moment, slowly relaxed. Jae-gyeong said in a voice that was slightly thick with emotion.

“You don’t necessarily have to fire Hunter Lee Hyeon….”

“No, I’m absolutely firing him.”

“You don’t have to go that far. I felt a bit hurt earlier… but now, I’m not hurt at all, and I feel good….”

“…Really?”

Da-sol tilted his head slightly to check Jae-gyeong’s expression.

“You really do.”
