The Saint Wants to Rest - Chapter 19.2
I went to a nearby convenience store, bought a chocolate bar, broke a large bill, and hopped on a bus. It took quite some time, but I finally arrived at the Phoenix Guild office near Gangnam. Fortunately, getting inside was not difficult. Once I gave my name to the front desk on the first floor, they told me to come up immediately.
“Hyung.”
Hong Seo-yun opened his mouth in shock at Ian’s sudden visit.
“Wh-why are you here!”
Ian ignored Hong Seo-yun, walked into his private office, and flopped down on the sofa.
“Weren’t you supposed to be evacuating?”
“No.”
“Wait, did something happen? Why are your cheeks puffed out like a pufferfish?”
“I fought with Hyung.”
“With Jae-heon? Why?”
In all his life, Hong Seo-yun had never seen Choi Jae-heon and Ian fight. Ian pulled his legs up onto the sofa and hugged them with both arms.
“He told me to run away.”
“Well, he’s not wrong.”
“I can help too!”
“Don’t tell me… did you do that to Jae-heon?”
Hong Seo-yun could not bring himself to say the word “kiss” out loud.
“I did!”
“Crazy! And you said you’d help him with that ability?”
“Of course. But he still told me to run away! I know Hyung is worried about me. But can’t I worry about him too? What if he gets hurt where I’m not around! Then what am I supposed to do?”
Ian poured out his frustrations heatedly. None of the things he said were technically wrong. However, what kind of existence was Ian to them?
Good grief! Hong Seo-yun rubbed his forehead with his hand and then knelt down in front of Ian.
“Well, I understand how you feel.”
“And, what!”
“Ian. Your ability is truly unique. That is why so many people will covet it. Usually, once power is used, it takes time to recover, but you eliminate that entire process. And I have a hunch. That guy named Vermouth, you know him too, right?”
“How do you know him, Hyung?”
“He’s famous lately, haven’t you seen him? He’s on almost every news channel every day.”
“I haven’t seen him.”
“Is he by any chance the guy who followed you from the other world?”
Ian nodded.
“In that case, shouldn’t you avoid showing yourself in front of him? He’s participating in this dungeon operation too.”
“So, you’re saying I should abandon Hyung just to avoid him?”
“You shouldn’t think of Hyung as he used to be, okay? He is very strong now.”
“Still, you never know what might happen in the world.”
Ian was usually the gentle type, but once he started being stubborn, it was hard to break him. Knowing this, Hong Seo-yun clicked his tongue briefly.
“By the way, I’m asking this because I’m genuinely curious, but don’t tell me you did that with him too?”
This time, no answer came back, but sometimes silence is an answer in itself.
“Was it just a kiss?”
Ian turned his head away entirely. He did something more. He definitely did more. Hong Seo-yun nodded and stood up.
“I’ll have to kill that bastard.”
“What?”
Only then did Ian open his mouth.
“It’s fine. Hyung will just kill him quietly while making it look like an accident. Then our Ian will be at peace, and it’ll be good for me too.”
Choi Jae-heon felt that way, and now Hong Seo-yun also seemed to want to get rid of Vermouth. Come to think of it, there were people like that in Lancia too. It was just that Vermouth was so strong they couldn’t even touch him.
No, in the first place, it was impossible to even imagine that guy being murdered by someone. Ian debated whether to tell Hong Seo-yun that several people would have to attack together to even stand a chance at killing Vermouth.
“So, should I contact Jae-heon for you?”
“No, I’m going to stay here.”
“Are you still upset?”
“If I tell Hyung, he’ll just tell me to evacuate again.”
“Well, that’s true. But children must be raised to be strong!”
Hong Seo-yun pinched Ian’s nose tightly and let go.
“Follow me around for the time being.”
“I can stay here, though?”
“We don’t know when the Gate will burst, so staying with me is the safest.”
“But my location shouldn’t be found out by Vermouth, right?”
“Then shall we try a disguise?”
With that, Hong Seo-yun pulled a black card out of his pocket.
“Let’s go to the department store!”
Even while citizens were evacuating, there were department stores that had not yet closed. It was a private department store used exclusively by Awakened. Since these places played the role of supplying resources, they did not close even during emergencies. Hong Seo-yun went there and bought Ian a suit.
“Oh, our baby. You look quite good in a suit now, don’t you?”
He dressed him in a slightly slim-fitting suit and brushed his hair back into an all-back style. With sunglasses and a mask added, he looked like a completely different person.
“This is the magic of clothes. And then hold this tablet. Yes, perfect. From now on, you are my secretary.”
“Did you originally have a secretary?”
“I did, but he is currently on paternity leave.”
Thus, Ian began moving alongside Hong Seo-yun. Unlike his seemingly lighthearted appearance, Hong Seo-yun did his job properly. He looked around the evacuation zones and received reports on the changes in the Gate. During the rest of the time, he waited in a temporary tent set up near the Gate. Because it was a new type of Gate, they didn’t know when it would burst.
