Unlike the brooding Ian, Vermouth was riding a wave of success. As the number of Gates he cleared increased, his fame soared higher. It was not uncommon for Awakened individuals to have fans, but Vermouth now had an entire fan club.

The name of the fan club was [Verguard].

They were completely infatuated with the strong and beautiful Vermouth, constantly chattering about him.

Ian put his phone down after browsing social media.

“What a hypocrite.”

He spoke in a bitter voice and threw himself onto the bed. Even hypocrisy can be a form of virtue. Even if his motives lay elsewhere, many people had their lives saved by Vermouth. And they were truly grateful to him.

He understood, but it was troublesome in many ways.

“…Hyung.”

And the biggest problem among them was that things had become awkward between him and his brother.

***

Hong Seo-yun’s house was far from ordinary. He focused on entertainment rather than the functional aspects of a home, and as a result, his house looked more like a playground.

Today, the three friends gathered there after a long time. They gathered, but…

“Hey, did something happen?”

Hong Seo-yun wore a fed-up expression as he watched Choi Jae-heon pour drinks down his throat. Choi Jae-heon had vowed not to drink until his younger brother was found, but it seemed he intended to break that seal today.

“Is there no more alcohol?”

“There is. But still.”

“Bring it.”

Hong Seo-yun read the room and then raided his liquor storage. Yoon Tae-gyeom shook his head at the row of bottles lined up on the bar.

“I do not know what the issue is, but drinking will not solve it.”

It was a prompt for him to confide in them. Choi Jae-heon hesitated. Was it alright to tell his friends about the feelings he had realized? How would they look at him for harboring such a heart for his younger brother? However, his agonizing behavior did not last long.

“Is the problem Ian? Shall I take a guess?”

Hong Seo-yun spoke in a sly voice. He took a swig from a whole bottle of whiskey without ice and shouted.

“Choi Jae-heon likes Choi Ian!”

“What about it?”

Yoon Tae-gyeom sent him a pathetic look, but Hong Seo-yun continued.

“He likes him as a romantic partner, not as a younger brother!”

Yoon Tae-gyeom, who was drinking water instead of alcohol beside them, spat out his drink.

“Am I wrong?”

Choi Jae-heon felt a sense of gratitude along with annoyance toward Hong Seo-yun for speaking so directly. Thanks to Hong Seo-yun, the secret was gone. He felt his mind becoming at ease.

“…That is right.”

Choi Jae-heon loves Choi Ian. At his affirmation, Yoon Tae-gyeom let out a sigh. In fact, even without Hong Seo-yun’s words, Yoon Tae-gyeom had predicted it to some extent. No matter how much an older brother cherished his younger brother, Choi Jae-heon’s behavior had fallen outside the category of typical siblings.

“So, what are you going to do?”

Even in this situation, Hong Seo-yun’s voice was still cheerful.

“I have no intention of expressing it.”

He did not want to ruin Ian’s peace.

“I cannot take his family away from that child.”

“That is just like you.”

Choi Jae-heon always puts Ian’s feelings first. It was frustrating in Hong Seo-yun’s eyes, but that was simply the kind of person Choi Jae-heon was.

“Drink up!”

Hong Seo-yun offered a new drink to his dispirited friend. It was meant to give him a push. Just once, before Ian disappeared, he had gotten him to drink. At that time, Choi Jae-heon had poured his heart out to him.

Awakened individuals rarely get drunk, but that does not mean there is no way to achieve it. Hong Seo-yun had brought alcohol specially manufactured for the Awakened for today.

“Let’s drink until we die!”

It was the beginning of a long night.

Late at night, Vermouth visited again. Now, Ian did not even ask why the man’s power had run out. He simply kissed him and sent him on his way as if it were an obligation.

Today would have been a day like any other.

If it had not been for the reporter hiding in the corner, that is.

Ian did not notice the reporter’s presence. Vermouth noticed, but he had no intention of stopping them.

“My god. To think the person Vermouth loves is a man!”

It was a scoop. If he uploaded this, the views would skyrocket. That was how much Vermouth monopolized public interest. The reporter rejoiced at catching a scoop and snapped photos from various angles.
