The Saint Wants to Rest - Chapter 35.2
“Aha.”
Lee Se-ah nodded with an expression of understanding.
“In any case, it seems there is nothing more for me to do. Then, I can leave now, right?”
“Thank you. For coming all the way here.”
“If you are thankful, just make sure I get extra hazard pay.”
Lee Se-ah said those words and immediately turned her back to leave the house.
“No, but seriously, this is fascinating.”
Hong Seo-yun looked at the cross section of Vermouth’s severed arm. Yesterday, it had been black and sticky as if tar had been poured over it, but now it was covered in red flesh.
“Does it not hurt?”
At those words, Vermouth simply shrugged his shoulders.
“You really are sturdy.”
Hong Seo-yun said that and joined them at the dining table. Regardless of his presence, Choi Jae-heon stared at Ian with narrowed eyes. He crossed his arms and asked.
“Choi Ian, what did you really do last night?”
Ian avoided his gaze and pretended to be busy with something else. However, there seemed to be a limit to how much he could avoid the question. Eventually, he had to give an answer.
“What do you mean? I just treated him as hard as I could. That is all.”
He could never say, even if he died, that the treatment involved lips and saliva.
“Hmm.”
Hong Seo-yun watched Ian and Choi Jae-heon with an intrigued gaze while placing a paper box he had brought onto the table.
“I bought sandwiches just in case. Let’s eat together.”
The sandwiches didn’t exactly go with the rice, but no one cared. It seemed the heavy atmosphere had improved slightly because Hong Seo-yun stepped in. At the moment, he was more interested in the newly appeared monsters than Choi Jae-heon’s romantic situation.
“But about that monster from yesterday. It was no joke.”
Hong Seo-yun opened his mouth with a serious expression while chewing on a sandwich.
“My fire barely worked, and I had to scrape together every bit of my strength just to make it effective. Plus, the poison was incredible. A mere graze would be a major injury. It didn’t even look that strong, but it was tricky. What on earth is that thing?”
“It is a member of the Demon King’s Army.”
Vermouth spoke, not giving up on his attempt to hand a sausage to Ian.
“I can eat by myself!”
Ian whispered to Vermouth with a furrowed brow. Watching them, Hong Seo-yun suddenly chimed in.
“If it is a member of the Demon King’s Army, is it a monster that appeared in your world? Ian, do you know about it too?”
“I do. In Lancia, they were called Shadow Stalkers. They can hide in shadows and are fast. Because of that, they had the alias of ‘Assassins of the Battlefield’.”
“Are there no attacks that work besides light?”
“To be precise, light and Holy Power.”
Ian stopped eating and continued his explanation in a calm, detailed manner. Just as the conversation was flowing, the doorbell rang this time.
“Ah, Yoon Tae-gyeom must be here.”
Hong Seo-yun shouted the house password out loud. Consequently, Yoon Tae-gyeom entered the house on his own.
“Can’t you just open the door for me?”
Yoon Tae-gyeom, looking more disheveled than usual, frowned.
“We were in the middle of eating.”
“Hmph.”
Yoon Tae-gyeom scratched his head and sat in a chair.
“Is there any for me?”
“There is.”
Hong Seo-yun handed the remaining sandwich to Yoon Tae-gyeom. He finished the sandwich in an instant and then examined Vermouth just as Hong Seo-yun had.
“You look perfectly fine.”
“I am missing an arm, though?”
“Still, you do not look like a patient. That is a relief. Actually, the reason I came by so early in the morning wasn’t just to check on Vermouth-ssi’s life or death. First, let me explain the current situation.”
“Wouldn’t it be better to finish eating first?”
Choi Jae-heon stopped Yoon Tae-gyeom as he tried to pull documents out of his bag.
“Ah. Right. I’m so tired my brain isn’t working well.”
Yoon Tae-gyeom waited quietly until everyone else had finished their meal. Only after the table was cleared did he bring out the tablet PC and documents again.
“First, about that monster from yesterday. A similar type has been discovered in other dungeons before. But they weren’t that dangerous, were they?”
As he said that, he showed a photo: they did indeed look similar. However, the monsters discovered domestically had their eyeballs in the right place, so they weren’t that scary.
“But the ones that appeared yesterday were different.”
At that point, Ian explained once more about the Shadow Stalkers.
“Monsters from another world. It sounds like a story out of some novel.”
Yoon Tae-gyeom shook his head.
“It’s been a long time since reality became a fantasy.”
Hong Seo-yun said that while examining what looked like a map among the documents.
“What is this? Why has the number of sudden gates increased this much?”
“It has increased. Furthermore, the monsters coming out of them are all mixed with something bizarre. I was wondering what was going on, but after hearing Ian’s words, I understand. Those things you call the Demon King’s Army are trying to invade our world, aren’t they?”
“Probably.”
“You said they used to be active in another world?”
“Well, since the Demon King’s head was cut off over there, perhaps they changed their stage of activity?”
It was a serious conversation.
