“I am giving him a moment to rest”

 Choi Jae-heon growled lowly.

“If I go in now, he will find it even harder to deal with. And I am warning you, if you harbor any ulterior motives beyond treatment, I will truly kill you then.”

“Then you ought to kill me right now, shouldn’t you?”

“Shut up!”

With those final words, Choi Jae-heon left the room. Vermouth let out a smirk as he watched his retreating back. Today’s treatment was a success as well. The tingling sensation on the cross section of his arm indicated that it was on the verge of recovering.

‘What a waste.’

If it healed slowly, he would be able to stay stuck to Ian for a longer period of time. Well, it wasn’t as if this was the only opportunity he would have to get hurt while protecting Ian.

‘I didn’t think I particularly had bad taste.’

He found interest in Ian’s crumbling expression and Choi Jae-heon’s expression as he endured while bleeding. This cohabitation seemed like it would become much more interesting than he had thought.

“Why aren’t you coming out!”

At Choi Jae-heon’s belated urging, Vermouth also stood up from his seat. Ian would not come out of the bathroom until he moved out of the way. Thus, that night passed.

***

Morning passed and even as it became afternoon, Ian’s bedroom door remained tightly shut. Normally, he would have woken up and come out long ago. Even when Choi Jae-heon cautiously knocked on the door, no answer came from within. Eventually, unable to hold back, he opened the door, only for a pillow to come flying at him immediately.

Choi Jae-heon, who took the hit submissively, closed the door again.

“Ian, you still have to eat. I made the side dishes; I only made the ones you like.”

This time, too, no answer came back.

“Ah.”

Choi Jae-heon rubbed his forehead with his hand. It seemed that what happened yesterday had been a huge shock to Ian. ‘Did I go too far?’ but he hadn’t wanted to do otherwise. He wanted to show his true feelings to Ian, who kept ignoring his heart simply because they were brothers.

“Hmm.”

Vermouth watched Choi Jae-heon being so restless from the side. Then, just as Choi Jae-heon had done, he opened Ian’s bedroom door. This time, a desk clock flew through the air aiming for Vermouth. He snatched it out of the air and set it down nearby. Then, he went inside and picked up Ian, who was curled up like a caterpillar wrapped in a blanket on the bed.

“Let go! Can’t you let go?”

Even as the hands emerging from the blanket pulled at his hair, there was no change in Vermouth’s expression.

“No matter the circumstances, you must have your meal.”

“I’m fine, okay?”

“Wouldn’t you need the strength to beat up the people who annoy you only after you’ve eaten something?”

Vermouth stripped the blanket off the struggling Ian and sat him down at the dining table. At that, Ian, who was filled with rage, glared at him, but Vermouth did not budge. He coolly sat by Ian’s side and picked up the cutlery instead. Though he looked like a foreigner, his skill with chopsticks surpassed that of most Koreans.

“Ah, say ‘ahh’.”

Ian gnashed his teeth.

“There are people in this world who cannot eat even if they want to. So, who was it that said one should not be picky with food?”

“…Me.”

“Then you should eat, shouldn’t you?”

“You are truly a bad guy!”

“I am aware.”

Even in a huffing state, Ian began to eat his rice. Perhaps because he was worried about getting indigestion, he chewed his food thoroughly. Choi Jae-heon, who was watching this, was swept away by an indescribable emotion.

There are five years of Ian’s life that he does not know. During that time, Vermouth must have been by Ian’s side watching everything without exception. That was so frustrating and irritating that he couldn’t stand it.

Beep-beep-beep

Fortunately, before Choi Jae-heon could do anything, Hong Seo-yun and Yoon Tae-gyeom arrived at the house at the perfect time.

“Yo, good afternoon! Were you in the middle of a meal?”

“I’ll finish quickly.”

“No, take your time. Take your time.”

Hong Seo-yun said that and sat on the sofa in the living room with Yoon Tae-gyeom.

“Jae-heon, I never knew an apron would suit you so well?”

Hong Seo-yun, who quickly read the atmosphere, tossed out a joke.

“While an apron doesn’t suit Yoon Tae-gyeom at all.”

At that, Yoon Tae-gyeom looked at Hong Seo-yun with incredulous eyes. Even if he wanted to say something in response, Hong Seo-yun was the type of person who had never cooked at home. Naturally, he had no connection to aprons.

In the meantime, Choi Jae-heon controlled his emotions. He sat calmly at the table and watched Ian eat slowly. Seeing him munching with his cheeks puffed out like a squirrel made his heart soften because it was cute.

Once Ian finished his meal, Yoon Tae-gyeom explained today’s schedule.

“First, we’re going to the Management Bureau to get you tested.”

“But didn’t you say Ian’s ability is called Holy Power? Can that be measured by standard equipment?”

“Since it worked for Vermouth, it should work for him too.”
