Even though the machine couldn’t handle it and broke, it worked. Still, since Ian was a healer, they figured the equipment would hold up for him. With that thought in mind, the four of them moved together to the Management Bureau.

“You didn’t all have to come with me.”

“My precious younger brother is getting his abilities measured; how could I possibly miss out?”

Hong Seo-yun spoke cheerfully. If he hadn’t been there, the inside of the car would have been crushed by an awkward atmosphere. It was fortunate to have someone who kept chattering away.

Ian let the stories drift through one ear while staring out the window. The events of last night came to mind, making it impossible for him to look at his brother directly. Choi Jae-heon was also adjusting his behavior to match Ian’s. The most composed person among them was likely Vermouth. He had been one of the most prominent “my-pace” individuals back in Lancia, after all.

“We have arrived.”

[Republic of Korea Awakened Management Bureau Headquarters]

Yoon So-ra met them in the lobby.

“Have you arrived?”

After greeting them politely, she immediately guided the group to the measurement room. Usually, an appointment is mandatory for measurements at the headquarters, but today was an exception.

There was a researcher waiting in the measurement room in advance. They led Ian to the front of the measurement device.

“Place your hand on it and let your power flow comfortably.”

Ian took a deep breath. His ability was praised as that of a Saint in the other world, but what kind of rank would appear here on Earth? It would be troublesome if it came out too high. This was because there were no S-class healers in the country. Since they were rare even when searching abroad, an S-class result would make things annoying in many ways.

Ian placed his hand on the device. At first, the machine remained still, but at some point, it began to vibrate minutely. Simultaneously, the numbers and graphs on the screen connected to the device rose incessantly.

“O-oh?”

Could he take his hand off now? Ian shifted his eyes slightly. However, not a word came from the researcher. By now, the machine was shaking violently.

“Stop!”

Choi Jae-heon and Vermouth stepped forward and pulled Ian away from the device. Only then did the machine stop its upheaval.

“S-class.”

The researcher muttered blankly.

“You are S-class! An S-class healer!”

At their shout, the expressions of the people inside the measurement room changed.

“I figured it would be like that.”

At Hong Seo-yun’s murmur, Yoon Tae-gyeom asked.

“What exactly did you figure?”

“If Ian isn’t an S-class healer, then who on earth would be?”

It was even more so because they had already experienced it. While they shared a trivial conversation, a beeping signal echoed from the measurement device that had been sitting quietly.

Pop!

Along with that, black smoke rose with a fizzling sound.

“A-ack! The machine again!”

Following Vermouth, Ian had now damaged the equipment as well. Looking at it, Ian stood with his mouth hanging open blankly.

“Do I… do I have to pay for that?”

“No. Who would charge Korea’s first S-class healer for the cost of a machine?”

Yoon Tae-gyeom answered calmly.

“The thing you should worry about is something else.”

“What is it?”

“You’ll find out soon.”

And just as he said, Ian soon came to understand the meaning behind Yoon Tae-gyeom’s words.

***

The first S-class healer in the Republic of Korea was born!

That news spread to the major guilds even before the Management Bureau could officially announce it. Most guilds plant people within the Management Bureau to snatch up talent faster than anyone else. Yoon Tae-gyeom was aware of this fact, but he left them be since he occasionally made use of them by feeding them false information.

“I should have cut them all off if I knew this would happen.”

Yoon Tae-gyeom let out a sigh. As soon as Ian’s existence became known, guild leaders and scout officials from every guild rushed to the Management Bureau.

“No, they’re doing this even though they know he’s Choi Jae-heon’s brother?”

Hong Seo-yun spoke with an expression of disbelief.

“Not all brothers in the world get along. He’s an S-class healer. It’s worth pinning hope on even a small probability.”

“No, that’s true, but. Jae-heon.”

Hong Seo-yun patted Choi Jae-heon’s shoulder.

“Prepare to suffer a bit.”

Before they could even get Ian out of the Management Bureau, people came crowding in. To borrow Hong Seo-yun’s phrasing, they came “frighteningly fast.”

“Hello! I am Lee Seo-woo, the Scout Team Leader from the Saseong Guild.”

“No, Lee Seo-woo. Aren’t you going home? Just how long have you been at the Management Bureau?”

Yoon Tae-gyeom asked him with an expression of total exasperation.

“Haha, I’m always here. I feel like the Management Bureau is my home now.”

Leaving Hong Seo-yun behind as he spoke, Lee Seo-woo subtly handed a business card to Ian, who was being hidden behind Choi Jae-heon. He didn’t seem to care at all that a person with a terrifying expression was standing right in front of him.
