The Saint Wants to Rest - Chapter 6.1
Yoon Tae-gyeom acted exactly the same as Hong Seo-yun.
“You aren’t hurt anywhere.”
“That’s a relief.”
Despite it being their first meeting in years, Yoon Tae-gyeom, much like Hong Seo-yun, did not doubt Ian’s identity for a moment.
“By the way, what were you talking about with this guy? I overheard a bit of it.”
“You overheard? You rude bastard. Eavesdropping on other people’s conversations?”
“This is my tent, isn’t it?”
Yoon Tae-gyeom arched an eyebrow as he looked at Hong Seo-yun.
“More importantly, Ian. Do you trust Hong Seo-yun? I’ll keep your secret, of course, but do you think he can handle the other issues properly?”
In the past, whenever Hong Seo-yun caused trouble, Yoon Tae-gyeom would stop him, and when the two ended up fighting, Choi Jae-heon would be the one to clean up the mess. While Yoon Tae-gyeom was skilled at problem-solving, he often ended up in ridiculous scuffles whenever Hong Seo-yun was involved. Knowing this, Ian’s expression naturally clouded over.
“So, tell me as well.”
“Don’t give orders!”
“It’s not an order, is it?”
Watching the two bicker yet again, Ian relayed everything he had told Hong Seo-yun to Yoon Tae-gyeom as well. Since they were like family anyway, he had no intention of hiding it.
“Bastards who deserve to be torn apart.”
That was Yoon Tae-gyeom’s verdict after hearing the story.
“Exactly! Wow, I actually agree with you for once. Let’s rip those guys’ bellies open right now!”
Yoon Tae-gyeom reached out and covered Hong Seo-yun’s mouth. A counterattack followed immediately, but it didn’t escalate into their usual brawl because Ian was right there next to them.
“Right, I understand. Ian, you don’t want to tell Choi Jae-heon about this, do you?”
“Hyung worries too much.”
He was the person who had been worrying ever since the moment Ian disappeared. Ian didn’t want to pile more burdens onto a brother like that.
“Even so, I think Choi Jae-heon needs to know.”
“Wh-why?”
“Your ability is incredibly unique and rare.”
Is it? There should be plenty of Awakened with healer traits on Earth. As if reading Ian’s thoughts, Yoon Tae-gyeom continued.
“Currently, there is only one S-Rank Healer in the entire world: Alice from the United States. Even she only restores the physical body; she cannot recover the fundamental power required for abilities. There are people with Buffer traits, but they don’t reach your level.”
“He’s right.”
Hong Seo-yun chimed in, agreeing with Yoon Tae-gyeom.
“Hong Seo-yun, as stupid as he looks, is one of only four S-Rank Hunters in our country. You restored the power of a top-tier Hunter. If others find out, they will try to get their hands on you by any means necessary.”
“Those murderous bastards!”
“That’s why I think the three of us should know. Including your brother.”
“I suppose… that makes sense.”
Ian lowered his head gloomily.
“Let’s keep it between me, this madman, and Choi Jae-heon. Just the three of us.”
“Fuck. Who are you calling a madman, you water-user!”
“Watch your language.”
“Fine, then I take back the ‘fuck’.”
Yoon Tae-gyeom shook his head at Hong Seo-yun’s behavior.
“Ian. I know you’re anxious. But please, follow my lead. With three S-Rank Awakened, we can protect you no matter what happens.”
At Yoon Tae-gyeom’s words, Ian asked blankly.
“Three S-Ranks Awakened?”
He knew Hong Seo-yun was an S-Rank Hunter. Back when he first awakened, he had bragged about it to everyone in the neighborhood. Yoon Tae-gyeom had also awakened as an S-Rank Hunter around the same time. However, while his brother was an Awakened, he hadn’t received a high rank.
The last rank he remembered his brother having was D.
A rank two levels higher than F, but one that could be somewhat dangerous for entering Gates. Because of that, Ian had hoped Choi Jae-heon wouldn’t go into them.
“Choi Jae-heon is an S-Rank Awakened too.”
“…Why?”
It was Hong Seo-yun who answered Ian’s question.
“He re-awakened.”
There were rare cases of a second awakening. However, under normal circumstances, people didn’t reach that stage. Only those who had crossed the threshold of death-defying crises multiple times achieved a second awakening.
But why?
Ian felt his heart sink.
His mind, which had been floating in the gap between reality and the past, finally settled. It felt as though his surroundings were coming into clearer focus only now.
“Hyung… I have to see Hyung.”
At Ian’s words, Hong Seo-yun lightly patted his back, trying to calm him down. However, Ian’s heart continued to race wildly.
“First, calm down. Choi Jae-heon is perfectly fine.”
In truth, he wasn’t perfectly fine. After losing his only family, Choi Jae-heon had moved desperately to find Ian. He had visited the police station countless times, but he never found him. The first year was okay, as there was still hope. But as the second year passed and the third year began, Choi Jae-heon’s mind had begun to crumble.
