The Saint Wants to Rest - Chapter 5.2
‘I saw him restoring the power that was gradually being depleted.’
Now, let us consider the method of that recovery. Ian had performed a certain action toward Hong Seo-yun .
‘A kiss…?’
Could it be that such a thing was a common daily occurrence in that other world? Like a greeting kiss in France.
“Ian. I am asking just in case.”
“Yeah?”
“Is the activation condition for your ability a kiss?”
Even as he spoke, Hong Seo-yun thought it was disgusting. If what he suspected was true, hadn’t Ian been forced to kiss those bastards in the other world? This country is strictly a Confucian society sensitive to physical contact.
To think they made such a young child perform such a sinister act. It would not be enough to catch those people and tear them limb from limb. At the very least, they should be burned alive starting from their toes!
As Hong Seo-yun’s thoughts raced toward the extreme, Ian nodded his head.
“That’s right. But it isn’t exactly a kiss.”
“Then what is it?”
He had a bad feeling about this.
“Physical contact.”
“Fuck!”
Before Ian could even finish his sentence, a curse exploded from Hong Seo-yun’s mouth. He poured out every swear word he knew like a rap. He had intended to avoid cursing in front of Ian, but he failed this time.
He wanted to ask immediately how many bastards Ian had to do that with, but Hong Seo-yun desperately held back. How much must this fragile kid have been hurt? He didn’t want to poke at that wound for no reason.
“Sigh.”
Letting out a long breath, Hong Seo-yun struggled to control his mind. Only after seeing Hong Seo-yun’s reaction did Ian realize the truth a bit late. He had thought it was a normal thing for a Saint in another world, so he had let it go, but this was Earth!
If even Hong Seo-yun reacted this wildly upon finding out, what would happen if his older brother, Choi Jae-heon , found out? Ian, who had been calm the entire time, broke into a cold sweat for the first time.
‘I can never let him find out!’
Choi Jae-heon believed his younger brother was the most flawless and innocent being in the world. He was a person who would do anything for Ian. If a brother like that found out about Ian’s circumstances—having to roll his body around in another world before returning—he would be more than capable of trying to destroy that world somehow.
Even though he had suffered a lot there, he had grown somewhat attached to it. It was a world he had saved by exhausting himself to take the head of the Demon King , so he couldn’t just let it be destroyed again, could he?
“Seo-yun hyung!”
Ian’s eyes sparkled as he approached Hong Seo-yun. He grabbed Hong Seo-yun’s large hand tightly and spoke while acting fragile.
“Can you keep what you just heard a secret?”
“So, you’re asking me to keep it a secret from Jae-heon?”
“Yes!”
Hong Seo-yun felt like he understood what Ian was thinking. However, no matter the reason, he couldn’t simply decide on such an important matter alone.
“Because it’s embarrassing for me. I’d like it if no one knew. Besides, I don’t want to do the same thing here.”
It wasn’t particularly embarrassing, actually. Perhaps it was because his only partner had been Vermouth . Kissing him was no different from kissing a dog. Occasionally, Ian’s heart would flutter because of the man’s beauty, but the fluttering would vanish the moment he saw how Vermouth usually behaved.
‘He’s too much of a madman to fall in love with.’
Take the time he tore a person apart, for instance. Seeing that scene almost gave Ian trauma. After dusting off the blood-soaked Vermouth back then, Ian had forced a promise out of him never to do it again.
‘Ah, I wasn’t originally that kind of person.’
He had become hardened by a world where human life was treated like that of an insect. While living in the other world, Ian had become selfish and strong.
“Of course!”
Hong Seo-yun’s voice reached Ian’s ears as he was momentarily lost in thought.
“I have no intention of letting other bastards know about this!”
Hong Seo-yun spoke as he firmly held Ian’s hand in return. The tight grip was painful, but Ian couldn’t help but smile. How could this person not have changed at all from the past?
Before returning to his original world, Ian had felt a sense of anxiety. Since he had been away for five years, he worried he wouldn’t be able to adapt. On hard days, he would sometimes think, What if my brother has forgotten me? But now, it felt like all that anxiety was melting away.
How long had it been since he smiled sincerely? At the sight of Ian’s bright smile blooming, Hong Seo-yun smiled back.
The atmosphere was not bad at all. That is, until someone else’s voice cut in.
“Ahem.”
Someone cleared their throat lightly at the entrance of the tent.
It was Yoon Tae-gyeom, the one who had helped Hong Seo-yun smuggle Ian away.
“Tae-gyeom hyung!”
At Ian’s welcoming voice, Yoon Tae-gyeom stepped into the tent. He approached Ian and scanned him from head to toe.
