The man clicked his tongue as if displeased and brushed his shoulder with his hand before raising his head to look at them. Choi Jae-heon’s eyes met the man’s.

“Who are you?”

At Choi Jae-heon’s question, the man tilted his head and smiled. It was just a smile, yet it created the illusion of a halo shining behind him.

Slap!

Yu Na-bi struck her own cheek hard.

‘Our Guild Leader is an incredibly handsome man too, but that guy is on another level. Is he even human?’

Kang Min-jae and Park Jong-seok seemed to be thinking the same thing. The man’s purple eyes swept over them as they remained on high alert.

“Hello?”

At Yu Na-bi’s cautious greeting, the man gave a small nod and introduced himself.

“I am known as Vermouth, the closest sword serving Regnasia, the Goddess of War and Love.”

They didn’t know if this counted as communicating. Was there a religion that worshipped a god named Regnasia? Come to think of it, his attire was unusual as well. While the clothing of Awakened had become diverse since the Gates opened, they had never seen such a style before.

His clothes, mostly white, gave off a holy impression. Combined with his appearance, the word “clergyman” came to mind.

“If you have no particular business with me, let us part ways. Though parting is regrettable, we shall meet again someday under the Goddess’s protection.”

Vermouth spoke with a benevolent smile. However, Choi Jae-heon had no intention of letting Vermouth go. It was common sense that a Gate closes once the designated number of people enter. Yet, right after an anomaly occurred in the Gate, a cultist spouting strange words appeared? Naturally, he had to be detained and interrogated.

He might be able to discover the cause of the Gate rank fluctuation that Kang Min-jae had mentioned.

Choi Jae-heon was the first to move.

Snap!

As he snapped his fingers to create a sound, a powerful force surged down upon Vermouth.

“So, you use telekinesis.”

Even while under attack, Vermouth remained composed. He was born a genius and had broken every record in the world. Consequently, he had never lost to anyone. Situations that could unsettle him rarely occurred.

Ah, except for the time he was slapped by Ian. Since Ian was a Saint, that too must have been the Goddess’s will. Besides, who would get angry just because the person they loved slapped them a little?

At that time, after being slapped by Ian, Vermouth had first checked to see if Ian’s hand was alright. This was because their durability levels were very different. Fortunately, Ian was perfectly fine, aside from his hand being a bit red.

Returning to the present, Vermouth thought it was a bit of a nuisance. He had clearly followed Ian, so why was Ian not here? Furthermore, a fairly decent powerhouse was attacking him right in front of his eyes.

He was sure he had greeted them properly, yet they were so rude. Normally, Vermouth would have killed his opponent in such a case, but he couldn’t do that here.

This was Ian’s world. He didn’t want to cause an unnecessary accident and face a difficult situation when he met Ian later. For that reason, Vermouth decided to ignore the people in front of him and leave.

Since this seemed to be a dungeon, he just had to get out of here. Vermouth tapped the ground with his toes and then kicked off. His figure vanished from Choi Jae-heon’s sight in an instant.

He got away.

The moment he realized that, Choi Jae-heon’s ability swirled violently. As he expanded the range of his power, the dead monsters were crushed once more and the walls crumbled. However, the mysterious being had already disappeared.

“Did he run away?”

As Yu Na-bi spoke blankly while blinking, Kang Min-jae shook his head.

“To me, it didn’t look like he was running away.”

“Either way, he’s gone.”

“That’s true. But let’s be careful just in case.”

“I know.”

While they were conversing, the Gate began to emit a strange sound. It was a signal that it would soon vanish. Usually, a Gate closes within an hour after the boss is killed. For that reason, in dungeons where resources needed to be mined continuously, the boss was often left alive.

“What was with that guy, really? I think he even killed the boss.”

Thus, the four who had entered the Gate came out without achieving their intended goal. Choi Jae-heon seemed to have lingering regrets until the very end, but he exited the Gate quietly. This was because Yu Na-bi, who was relatively close to him, had brought up the names of Hong Seo-yun and Yoon Tae-gyeom.
