The Villain’s Aide Has Run Away - Chapter 117.1
Leslun stroked the back of Prince Cassian, who was nestled against him, while glancing at Kailos.
He was staring at his younger brother with a sulky expression. Perhaps it was fortunate that he was not glaring.
“I think you picked the wrong person.”
Kailos’s hand suddenly moved. His rough hand grabbed the back of Cassian’s neck.
It seemed he intended to separate him from Leslun, but Cassian flinched in surprise and then stubbornly resisted, struggling not to leave Leslun’s embrace. His small fingers clutched at the edge of Leslun’s clothes desperately, almost pitifully.
“No, Brother. I’m fine like this.”
“So, you mean to stay in Leslun’s arms instead of mine?”
“I worried that if I suddenly ran at you, you might get hurt…”
Cassian’s round eyes pleaded with Leslun for help.
Round eyes, round nose, smooth, round facial lines. The look in the child’s eyes was pure cuteness.
Leslun held Cassian tighter with a smile in his gaze.
“Of course. You did well.”
Pretending to smooth Cassian’s clothing, Leslun subtly removed Kailos’s hand.
Kailos could not hold back and let out a nervous laugh.
“Leslun, I am the only one who gets to see you this cute.”
A hint of jealousy laced his words.
“It seems Your Highness also finds Prince Cassian cute.”
“Not exactly… never mind.”
Kailos stopped arguing and turned his gaze.
There stood Blue, unrecognizably changed.
The cute juvenile form had completely disappeared. His fur shimmered as if capturing light, and his eyes carried a mature aura. His sturdy shoulders and long limbs exuded natural authority.
“Something must have happened without me noticing.”
As if responding to Kailos, Blue walked forward with heavier, measured steps. He still seemed relaxed, but his larger form made his movement appear more deliberate.
[Do you really not know?]
The deep, resonant voice echoed simultaneously in the minds of the three of them. Kailos’s brows twitched, and Leslun unconsciously swallowed.
[You must have changed as well.]
Blue circled Kailos and nudged his side. Though playful, it carried the sense that he knew what had happened.
Kailos exhaled deeply.
“Well… I just…”
He paused, glancing at Leslun. His gaze showed deep thought.
“I realized what I must hold onto until the very end.”
Leslun’s eyes widened.
Seeing the wide-eyed expression, Kailos seemed to read his thoughts and pulled Leslun into his arms.
Even with Cassian already nestled against Leslun, he did not care. Cassian squirmed, frustrated at being caught in the middle.
Leslun froze, unable to move.
“What are you thinking?”
Leslun asked, still struggling to steady his surprise. Kailos responded lightly but firmly.
“I am preparing for the rest of my life.”
Leslun froze completely.
Of course…
He instinctively began to respond but stopped, thinking of “the rest of his life.”
He was the Crown Prince. A future ruler of the throne was already in front of him.
Leslun had a strong sense that he was included in Kailos’s idea of preparation. Kailos’s gaze seemed to acknowledge this as well.
“Your Highness, so you mean me…”
At that moment, Cassian interjected.
“This is not the time for that.”
His voice was unexpectedly firm for his age.
“Your Highness, Empress Tera is doing something dangerous. And there is no one who can stop it. Something might happen to Father.”
Cassian desperately tugged at Kailos’s clothes.
Kailos looked down at his younger brother. He could guess why Cassian had rushed to find him, but he did not look flustered.
“You are not on the Empress’s side?”
“That is…”
Cassian’s eyes flickered uncertainly.
“The Empress must have done everything for your sake.”
Kailos’s voice was more of confirmation than scolding. But Cassian lowered his head completely.
His face drooped, lips tightly pressed.
