While Kailos went to the Imperial City to assess the situation and arm himself with his forces, Leslun was to go to the Kingdom of Vancor to gather medicinal herbs.

That was the plan they had made.

He did not remember exactly, but he thought that if it was those herbs, they could resolve this incident.

And if the herbs ended up being useless?

Even then, it seemed Kailos did not mind.

In fact, in the original story, he had handled matters well without the herbs.

So Leslun trusted Kailos.

“Soon we will reach the Kingdom of Vancor.”

Blue traveled what would have taken a full day by carriage in just half a day. Thanks to that, they quickly reached the neutral area between Vancor and the Empire.

Leslun and Blue were now crossing a desert. The endless horizon of sand stretched before Leslun’s eyes.

The landscape was clearly different from the Empire, giving him a tangible sense of distance.

[Can you persuade the Crown Prince?]

“Of course. I have observed Prince Shaiman enough.”

Leslun recalled his face and smiled lightly.

Although he had come to the Empire using the name Tarensiu, he was actually Crown Prince Shaiman.

This time, when they met again, he would appear as the Crown Prince.

And like a miracle, a figure appeared in the middle of the desert. Even from a distance, it was clear that the person was large, with a falcon perched on his forearm as big as himself.

Leslun’s face brightened with a wide smile.

It was not their first meeting, but a reunion with the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Vancor.

***

Leslun was guided by the Crown Prince toward the royal castle.

Along the way, neither spoke much. It seemed their spirits were communicating instead.

The falcon circling above them flew ahead to the castle and returned.

Soon after, a large gate opened.

They had not yet introduced themselves to the guards, not even arriving at the gate.

Then, mounted riders approached them. Their faces were covered with cloth, so their features were not visible.

The one beside Leslun was dressed the same way, but he recognized him immediately. Even without Silber, he could tell it was him.

As Leslun habitually tried to step aside, the Crown Prince gently held his arm to stop him.

The riders who emerged from the gate bowed naturally, forming a line behind the Crown Prince.

It was then that Leslun realized the Crown Prince was among the larger people of Vancor.

“The Crown Prince is still soft.”

He mentioned Kailos without hesitation. Leslun looked up at him. Only his eyes were visible, but the gaze was familiar.

Once inside the castle, the Crown Prince promptly lowered the cloth covering his face.

In the harsh sunlight of the desert, his features were clear, and his bright smile could not hide his pleasure. His gaze lingered on Leslun as if he had missed him.

Then, with a determined expression, he revealed his identity to Leslun.

“I am Crown Prince Shaiman.”

Right. Not Prince Tarensiu, but the Crown Prince.

“Is that so?”

Leslun pretended to be surprised, though laughter was in his voice.

“You resemble someone I know, but it was not them. I almost committed rudeness.”

At that, Shaiman’s eyes curved softly like a line. Even under the scorching sun, his smile looked refreshing.

“Leslun, you still do not know how to hide.”

The way he said his name was unusually clear. Leslun’s breath stopped for a moment.

There was no need to feign surprise at hearing his name echo across the desert. His face had already flushed.

The Crown Prince approached Leslun, holding the cloth in his hand, and whispered softly.

“Even from afar, I could not forget. Meeting again makes it real.”

His honest expression rendered Leslun’s deliberate acting meaningless. The carefully maintained facade collapsed.

Blue sighed beside him and muttered.

[You cannot hide it.]

Leslun gave a troubled smile and turned away, but Shaiman’s gaze never left him.

“I have come to convey a message on behalf of Crown Prince Kailos. Only in the Kingdom of Vancor…”
