The Villain’s Aide Has Run Away - Chapter 131.2
His fingers brushed against his belt. Soon, he grasped a small glass vial. Inside, the liquid bubbled strangely, glowing ominously under the moonlight.
“This is my own masterpiece. I could turn a wretch like you into ashes in an instant.”
With a scream, Brian hurled the vial toward Kailos.
Boom!
The vial shattered, and with a flash of light, a poisonous smoke spread through the corridor. The walls corroded and blackened, while the stone floor cracked with a sizzling sound.
The Empress’s eyes wavered slightly.
But before the smoke could spread, Kailos had already lowered his body and pressed himself against the wall. Holding his breath, he swiftly found a safe pocket of air. The sound of melting limestone filled his ears, yet his movements remained calm.
“So that is the best you can do, a mere toy.”
His low voice sliced through the air.
Brian’s face twisted with fury. He immediately pulled out another vial, this one glowing with a reddish light.
“You won’t be able to avoid this one!”
But Kailos had been waiting for that very moment. As soon as Brian threw the vial, he moved his sword with lightning speed.
Clang!
The glass vial shattered midair. Yet instead of scattering, the shards and boiling liquid flew straight back toward Brian.
“What—!”
Brian’s eyes widened in shock. The venom inside the vial splashed over his face and chest, sizzling as it burned through his flesh. His clothes melted away, his skin cracked open, and blisters swelled across his body.
“Aaagh!!”
A scream tore through the passage, raw and piercing.
Brian writhed and rolled across the floor, but the corrosive poison spread like fire, burrowing deeper into his flesh. The more he tried to scrape it off with his hands, the deeper it ate into him.
Kailos watched the horrific sight in silence, then spoke.
“To be devoured by the very thing you created.”
Brian staggered and reached out with bloodstained hands toward the Empress. But she did not move a single step.
Brian’s eyes pleaded desperately for mercy, yet his strength soon gave out, and he collapsed forward. The boiling liquid consumed his body, melting even his bones. All that remained was the stench of death.
One of the remaining sorcerers witnessed the ghastly scene and fled in terror.
“We must eliminate him…!”
The Empress cried out urgently, but Kailos merely flicked the filth from his sword and did not pursue.
“Let him live and return.”
Kailos replied casually, then turned to face the Empress.
“It seems it is time we had our own conversation.”
The Empress lowered her head in gloom.

Leslun was with Prince Cassian.
The room was silent. The only sound was the steady breathing of the boy.
Each time a disturbance echoed from outside, Leslun instinctively turned toward the door. He could not know whether it would be Kailos returning or an enemy appearing. Neither possibility offered comfort.
When Blue had come and told them that the Empress was in danger, Kailos had stopped Leslun from following.
He said that Cassian needed someone by his side when he woke up.
After saying that, Kailos pressed a kiss to Leslun’s forehead and left.
He had not realized how painful it would be to do nothing but wait. Time moved unbearably slow.
His mind grew tangled with worry. Leslun squeezed his eyes shut. For now, all he could do was believe that Kailos would return safely.
Dawn spread outside the window. As the faint sunlight seeped in, his eyelids grew heavy. He rubbed his tired eyes, then felt a presence and turned his head.
From beyond the door came a faint sign of movement. His heart dropped. Leslun instinctively gripped the dagger that Kailos had left for him.
He turned his back to Cassian and braced himself for whoever might enter.
“Ugh…”
Cassian stirred awake, raising himself slightly.
“Your Highness, please stay still,” Leslun murmured under his breath, tightening his hold on the dagger.
He was the only one who could protect Cassian now. Forcing down his fear, he steadied himself.
At last, the door opened.
Seeing the faces that entered, Leslun let out a deep sigh of relief.
Cassian, now fully awake, peeked out from behind Leslun’s shoulder to see who it was.
It was Robin and Lady Miroi.
