The Villain’s Aide Has Run Away - Chapter 37.1
Leslun trailed off mid-sentence and turned his head.
“Your Highness the Crown Prince.”
Not far away, Kailos Delroi was standing, watching Leslun with a gaze more grave than usual. Just when had he arrived…?
“It seems we have a conversation to share.”
Thinking those words were meant for Prince Tarensiu, Leslun hurriedly shifted aside. But Kailos did not spare so much as a glance at the foreign prince—he came straight toward Leslun.
And then, without hesitation, he seized Leslun’s wrist and tugged. It wasn’t rough, but the movement was firm and resolute.
Leslun, still unable to grasp what was happening, was pulled along helplessly. What in the world was this about?
He glanced back in alarm, scanning the surroundings. That was when his eyes met those of Robin.
‘What is going on? No—even if you only explain later, please help me now.’
He pleaded silently with his eyes, but Robin showed no sign of moving.
‘Handle it yourself. I know nothing.’
A truly loyal, yet unflinchingly cold, aide.
Robin instead approached the abandoned Prince Tarensiu.
“From here on, I shall attend you.”
At Robin’s courteous greeting, Prince Tarensiu cast him a heavy gaze. For a moment, Robin wondered if the prince was displeased at the sudden change of escort. But then Tarensiu calmly spoke.
“You’re small.”
For once, even Robin, whose control of expression was impeccable, couldn’t keep his brows from twitching. He understood well enough that those words were meant for him.
“Average height,” Robin replied, as evenly as he could, trying to smooth over the moment.
But there was one thing he didn’t know: Prince Tarensiu had never called him cute.

The place Kailos dragged Leslun to was an unusually deserted alley, even though it lay right in the middle of the city.
It was not the Imperial Palace they were headed for. How Kailos had even found such a place was a wonder, the narrow lane was tucked away behind rows of shop back doors, quiet and secluded.
The cramped alley felt as though it existed solely for the two of them. And the space left between them was scarcely more than a hand’s breadth.
The closeness was so overwhelming that Leslun didn’t know where to set his eyes. Perhaps what he felt was not discomfort, but embarrassment disguised as it.
Standing there with Kailos’s unwavering gaze fixed only on him, Leslun had no idea what to do. It felt as if those eyes could pierce straight through his insides.
No doubt, Kailos had overheard the words he had carelessly spoken to Prince Tarensiu earlier. He had said Kailos was a good man—but it had been a conditional answer.
He hadn’t yet seen him commit any atrocities. Even knowing he was meant to be the villain, Leslun had witnessed nothing of the sort—at worst, he had seen only mischief.
“Leslun.”
At last, Kailos’s deep voice broke the silence, making Leslun flinch.
So defenseless he looked, carelessly spilling that sweet fragrance again.
No, judging from Blue’s reaction, it must have been a scent imperceptible to ordinary people.
And yet now, that fragrance was the least of Kailos’s concerns. His head was spinning far more violently.
What was it about Leslun that unsettled him so?
“Yes, Your Highness.”
Kailos said nothing more, only continued to gaze at him. The weight of that stare alone was nearly crushing.
Suddenly, a hollow laugh slipped from Kailos’s lips.
The confusion that had clouded his eyes drained away, replaced with growing certainty. Not only his gaze—something within him itself was filling up.
“I’ve been worrying needlessly.”
The words came out with a bitter edge, and the tension in his shoulders seemed to ease.
It was not the face of a man giving up, but one who had decided to push forward without hesitation.
At those weary-sounding words, Leslun’s heart reacted instinctively. He wondered why—but Kailos offered no explanation.
He only muttered what came to mind, as though speaking his thoughts aloud.
What in the world was he thinking?
“I thought I had to build a wall, afraid you might sway me. But perhaps… there’s no need for that after all.”
Still, the meaning was beyond Leslun’s grasp.
And he couldn’t bring himself to ask. Not when the Crown Prince stood so close—far too close for him to accept it calmly.
