The Villain’s Aide Has Run Away - Chapter 92.1
Kailos’s gaze brought back memories of a past when he wasn’t like this.
“My aide is indeed tight-lipped.”
Leslun could see the relentless determination to draw out the stone he had swallowed.
“Well, it’s okay. There are still many ways to make you talk.”
Kailos’s sharp, unblinking eyes softened once more.
‘The Crown Prince who enjoys defiling both men and women.’
He wondered why that phrase came to mind now.
“Earlier, when the window shattered, you might have gotten glass shards on you. Should we check?”
His fingers slid inside Leslun’s clothing.
The parlor was quiet. The figures in the antique portraits on the walls looked down upon the two people inside.
Robin tried to leave, claiming he would personally take Count Camilo to the palace. But Miroi stopped him, asking him to stay a moment longer. Because Kailos had willingly taken Leslun back to the palace, Robin had no choice but to remain at the duke’s residence. The atmosphere between the two, seated across a low table, was awkward.
It had been a while since he last sat in this parlor. Although he had visited often, he had never felt this uncomfortable before.
Miroi and Robin sat across from each other, maintaining an awkward silence. A tense atmosphere filled the space between them.
“My father will propose a marriage alliance with the Crown Prince.”
At her words, Robin’s eyebrows twitched.
“Don’t you have anything to say?”
Even with Miroi’s question, Robin’s lips remained firmly closed. His voice was calm, but Miroi’s trembled slightly.
“If you marry the Crown Prince, we will be on the same side.”
At Robin’s response, Miroi’s eyes sharpened.
“Is that really your final answer?”
Despite Miroi’s repeated questions, Robin remained silent. Unable to bear the silence, Miroi stood up, and Robin hurriedly spoke.
“But if you marry the Crown Prince, someone will be hurt.”
She paused briefly. When Miroi looked down at Robin, who was still seated, he was staring at a distant point, not at her.
Robin’s tone changed, and Miroi realized he was not speaking to either of them.
Robin hinted at the relationship between Leslun and Kailos, and Miroi did not respond directly.
“Is that all you have to say?”
It implied that she had already noticed the relationship between Leslun and Kailos.
“…And you?”
Her desperate gaze turned to Robin.
“What is your true feeling?”
Miroi couldn’t hold back any longer and revealed her heart to Robin. He had been the only one she had ever looked up to since childhood.
The soft light from the grand chandelier cast long shadows beneath her eyelashes.
“I think you know why I’m doing this.”
Her whisper was soft.
“Sometimes, you have to pretend not to know even if you do.”
Robin’s response was straightforward, and it was clear he was trying to maintain a calm atmosphere.
“Like now?”
With a brief question, the warmth slowly left Miroi’s face. It was only when her cheeks, which had been a soft pink, paled that Robin finally looked up at her.
“Miroi, I was the one who first proposed your engagement to the Crown Prince.”
Miroi exhaled a long, trembling breath. Her shoulders rose and fell slightly.
“On the night you were kidnapped, I knew but didn’t go. I wanted you to meet the Crown Prince.”
“And Leslun saved me. I truly appreciate it.”
Miroi’s voice was deep and steady, like a calm night sea. There was no sign of hesitation in her voice, as if she already knew everything.
“That child has changed not only the Crown Prince but also me.”
Now, Miroi was no longer looking at Robin. She slowly walked toward the window.
“I will support and cheer for Leslun from now on.”
“Miroi, do you know what you’re saying?”
“Of course I do.”
After gazing out the window for a while, Miroi turned back to face Robin.
“I will make you break off the engagement.”
Robin shook his head.
“Leslun and I are just aides.”
“But the other is the Crown Prince, and the one who put a collar on the guardian beast.”
“What are you thinking?”
