―The mugunghwa…. Beep, Got-! Crash!

The voice of the child echoing through the school speakers was followed by the voice of the guy who had climbed through the window shouting, “Got you!” amid a burst of static. A brief silence followed, and then the broadcasting room door opened. The guy emerged with the teddy bear tucked beneath his arm, grinning mischievously like a victor.

“You did it!”

“Waaagh!”

“That was fucking awesome, you crazy bastard!”

“Wow!”

I naturally joined the cheering and merged into the group of survivors. The team consisted of two second-year sunbaes, two first-years, and me, making five people in total. Since they had come straight to the broadcasting room instead of running away, they were bold, fearless, and quick to act.

“I’m going to kill the bastard who caused this shit!”

They were also intoxicated by their own heroism. Since this world had appeared because my Affection Level toward Kim Jihwan kept dropping, didn’t that make me one of the culprits? The bastard who caused this shit is right here. Sorry.

―Ding-dong-.

Our joy was short-lived as the school bell suddenly rang at a completely random time. Come to think of it, what time was it? Our phones weren’t working, and the sky was still red, making it difficult to tell.

“Hey, didn’t it suddenly get colder…?”

One of the second-year sunbaes spoke, his breath turning white. At that moment, the temperature around us plummeted. Moisture gathered on the windows before quickly freezing into frost.

Slap, slap….

The sound of bare feet walking across the damp floor and a broom dragging against it came from the far end of the hallway.

“Huh? What’s that?”

“Mister! Who are you?!”

The boys who noticed the source of the sound before I did shouted warily.

“……?”

I also raised my head and looked toward it. Something over two meters tall was approaching with a hunting rifle, leaving black footprints behind. Its face was covered by goggles, and its entire body was concealed beneath a pure-white ghillie suit. It looked exactly like a yeti, making me feel as though we had been stranded on a snowy mountain despite clearly being inside a school.

“Excuse me, could you put the gun down first….”

Abnormally enormous footprints,

Red, glowing eyes,

The cold metallic sound of the gun barrel.

I felt a vague sense of foreboding. The others seemed to feel the same way because they cautiously backed away.

Click-.

The yeti aimed at us.

“Uh, is that loaded with real bulle…?”

Bang!

A bullet struck the chest of the boy who had started speaking. It was the same boy who had climbed through the window and cleared the Mugunghwa Flower game. The moment the bullet struck him, he turned into a block of ice.

“Aaaagh!”

“Run!”

It seemed the second game had begun.

You have died.

Would you like to restart?

Yes / No

“Haa….”

I died again.

Even with a rough count, I thought I had died more than forty times. From what I had figured out through all those deaths, the current game was probably a modified version of ‘Freeze Tag.’

“How is a person supposed to beat a gun….”

If the yeti’s bullet hit you, you turned into ice. But shouting “Unfreeze!” didn’t melt the ice. Once you froze, you remained solid and died.

“There’s no way to block it.”

In ordinary Freeze Tag, you could avoid the seeker by shouting “Freeze!” yourself. But in this game, there was no way to avoid the seeker other than running away. I felt the part of my chest where I had been shot earlier and let out a deep sigh.

“A shot to the chest causes instant death. If it hits anywhere else, you can move for a little longer.”

Three seconds for the head.

Ten seconds for the arms or legs.

“But you still turn into ice once the time runs out.”

It only bought you a little time to escape. Either way, you eventually died. That meant running away and dodging the bullets weren’t fundamental solutions.

“If I had to die anyway, I wish I could’ve revived during the Mugunghwa Flower game….”

Another thing I discovered was that when I committed suicide, I revived very close to the place where I died.

When I was killed by someone else, I revived at a point where I could avoid that external cause of death.

“It’s inconvenient that I keep reviving right when the yeti appears.”

I continued reviving immediately after the Mugunghwa Flower game ended and just before the yeti appeared. Every time I revived, I had to struggle to convince the others and hammer the rules I had discovered into their heads.

“I think I’ve told them more than thirty times that getting shot turns you into ice….”

Repeating the same thing over and over made me feel like some kind of information robot. The boys who had cleared the first game were so excited that they were eager to catch the yeti. Like the teddy bear from the Mugunghwa Flower game, they seemed to have developed the baseless confidence that they could defeat it through combat.
