“A student shouldn’t walk around with tattoos and piercings… looking like thattt….”

Completely drained, I lectured him weakly without any force behind my words. But he only stared silently at me without moving. I decided it was impossible to deal with him any longer and was about to turn away when,

“This.”

He slowly waved the broken side mirror in front of my face. The side mirror worth tens of millions of won dangled before my eyes.

“Mm, right. That happened. I’m sorry.”

I reminded myself once again of the power dynamic between us. What power did I have against the owner of a D*cati, who held all the cards? Trying to handle everything by myself only kept making things more complicated.

I give up. I give up.

“I don’t think I can handle this alone. I’ll tell my parents….”

“I don’t have a phone.”

“Ah, I was talking about my parents.”

“I have nothing to ride home.”

Aha, so he wanted me to lend him some transportation money to get home. Well, the side mirror was in that state, so he shouldn’t ride the motorcycle on the road. But our conversation had felt subtly misaligned for a while now. It was as though he didn’t understand what I was saying either.

“Where do you live?”

“Manhattan.”

“Hm?”

“…….”

Wow- I see-?

My home is outside this novel-.

I’m much farther away than you, right? Right? I win-.

…I was so dumbfounded that I wanted to make such a childish retort.

Was he playing word games? What was he really saying?

“Hmm… Should I take you to the airport? Or to wherever you’re staying….”

“…….”

His eyes went blank again. At this point, I nearly wanted to cry. But I wasn’t in any position to get angry or cry, so I simply closed my mouth.

Growl-.

As we stood there in silence, even my stomach became hungry. Seriously, one thing after another. I smiled awkwardly and asked him,

“Have you eaten…?”

I was heading home when I suddenly remembered that I had fed Lee Seojun at around this time too.

After asking the guy my age for permission, I deliberately searched around the hillside neighborhood. As expected, Lee Seojun couldn’t even enter his own house. He was crouched in the shadowy corner of the same alley where he often smoked, digging at the ground with the toe of his shoe.

“Seojun…!”

I almost called his name without thinking, then remembered that I had cleared the doppelgänger game. After clearing it, I had returned to the past, and his phone number was gone too. Since we had never met, we hadn’t introduced ourselves yet.

Then what could I call Lee Seojun without seeming unnatural….

“Hey, Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival!”

“……Huh?”

He stood up in surprise when he saw me, then froze when he noticed the lost child from Manhattan behind me.

“What the hell? How are you with that bastard?”

“Hm? You know him?”

I turned around and looked at the guy behind me. He merely shrugged.

“Fuck, did you send him to find me too?”

Lee Seojun swore at the silent guy and approached irritably. It seemed a fight might break out if I left them alone, so I blocked him by abruptly holding the broken side mirror in front of his face.

“No, I broke his motorcycle.”

“?”

To be precise, I had tried to stop them, but the brats had broken it on their own. I was too lazy to explain everything, so I compromised by saying I had broken it. I could cover the motorcycle repair costs in the future with the money I won at the casino, and I only wanted to escape this situation as quickly as possible.

“Good job.”

“?”

Lee Seojun grinned as though he felt refreshed, suddenly looking pleased despite having been angry moments earlier.

“That motorcycle’s stolen property. It has a different owner, but that bastard stole it and rides it around.”

“…It’s mine now.”

There seemed to be some story between the two of them, but I had no desire to become deeply involved. Right, whatever the case, let’s hurry and get out of this situation, feed the kids, and sleep. Too many things had happened today. I missed home so much now.

I draped an arm over each of their shoulders and spoke.

“Guys, let’s go eat. This old man is hungry.”

The D*cati owner said his name was Allen.

Wow, a full-on English name. It makes me feel so distant from him.

Since he looked Asian, I had felt a certain familiarity with him, but his name and everything inside him belonged to a faraway foreign country. As though proving it, he sat awkwardly at the low table in the living room and merely stared at Lee Seojun and me as we shoveled down heaping bowls of soy sauce egg rice. It was obvious that he really was a foreigner.

“Allen, can’t you sit cross-legged?”

“You call his name like you’re calling some neighborhood stray dog.”

No, he looks so uncomfortable sitting like that- I argued. Then I helped Allen up, seated him on the sofa, and handed him a bowl and spoon.
