“Ah, you girls were invited as the makeup experts?”

When I figured out who the cosmetology high school students were, the girls giggled as though I had guessed correctly and answered me.

“Yeah, that’s us. We’re from the cosmetology high school. There isn’t a single person here without a certification.”

Well, in that case, couldn’t they practically be called professionals? The makeup they had done on their own faces was very pretty too. Kids these days could already display such fully developed skills while they were still in high school.

“Come get your makeup done after lunch. The performance is at two, right?”

“Yeah, are you eating here too?”

“Would the princess like to eat with us?”

The cosmetology high school students naturally got my number and invited me into several group chats. A large number of guys from our school had already been invited and were noisily chatting away. I should turn off the notifications.

“But I already have someone I eat with, so I’m going to have school lunch. Enjoy your meal, and I’ll see you later.”

“That’s too bad. Message us if you change your mind.”

“Okay, see you later.”

I gave the girls a casual farewell and continued moving the equipment.

“Fuuuuuck, Baekfox, you bastaaaard!”

“You fuuuuucking bastard, die!”

And the moment I went backstage, I got beaten up.

“No, why the hell…?!”

“We’re busting our fucking asses while you’re off flirting with girls by yourself?!”

“You should have to pay double the fucking taxes!”

It was unfair. I protested that I had only spoken to them because I was playing Snow White in the play. But the guys tormenting me wouldn’t listen. Whatever justification I had didn’t seem particularly important to them.

After I had endured a round of thwack, thwack, Cha Gwonhyeok appeared with a troubled expression, his phone vibrating like mad after he had gotten a ton of girls’ numbers.

“He gets a pass.”

“He’s so far out of our league that I don’t even feel deprived.”

“Be honest. I’m an easy target, and you’re scared of Cha Gwonhyeok, aren’t you?”

The guys didn’t give much of an answer. It wasn’t as though I wanted them to hit Cha Gwonhyeok too, but their completely different attitudes made me feel aggrieved.

“Hey! First-years! Why aren’t you moving faster?!”

The Drama Club sunbaes shouted while sweating profusely as they moved the props. At their scolding, we scattered again and devoted ourselves to organizing everything.

While I was moving the equipment, I spotted a Tamag*chi that someone had been playing with and abandoned behind the main auditorium.

“Ah, could this work too?”

I became curious whether the daily quest that had worked on a cicada would also work on a Tamag*chi.

“I love you, I like you.”

Daily Quest: Say ‘I love you’ (6/10)

Daily Quest: Say ‘I like you’ (4/10)

As expected, the Tamag*chi seemed to be too much because the numbers didn’t change. But if a cicada worked, wouldn’t a cockroach work too? If I was lucky, maybe ticks, termites, or even mold would count.

“Are you still playing that game?”

“Hrk…!”

Cha Gwonhyeok spoke to me from behind. I was so startled that a slightly strange sound escaped me.

Cha Gwonhyeok, whenever possible, I would appreciate it if you warned me about three days in advance that you were going to speak to me in broad daylight, outdoors, where I had a clear view of my surroundings. My heart wasn’t going to survive if you kept appearing behind me.

“Ahem, well, I heard it helps activate serotonin.”

I gave Cha Gwonhyeok an absurd excuse. For some reason, he seemed to have branded me as some eccentric weirdo, so no matter what nonsense I said, he simply accepted it and moved on.

It was convenient, but uncomfortable. Both the collapse of my image and Cha Gwonhyeok’s constant approaches.

Bzzzt-.

At that moment, my phone vibrated in my pocket.

“Hello? Ah, Seonghee. Yeah, this is my number. Yeah, yeah.”

After briefly finishing the call with the cosmetology high school student, I resumed organizing the equipment. Cha Gwonhyeok sat beside me and helped.

“Is there a girl you like?”

Cha Gwonhyeok asked, and I answered honestly.

“I prefer older women.”

“What kind of older woman, exactly?”

At some point, as my identity as someone transmigrated into a novel became firmly established, the thought of dating someone began to feel as though I were committing a crime, so I avoided it. That was why I had always made the excuse that I liked older women. I had to love Kim Jihwan, so how could I love anyone else?

“Just… someone I can lean on.”

I gave a vague description of my ideal type. I thought no one would refuse someone they could depend on.

“You like rich noonas?”

“That wouldn’t be a bad thing.”

“That’s unexpected.”

Unexpected? Did I look like someone obsessed with money? I became slightly embarrassed, so I asked him in return.

“Why? What kind of person did you think I’d like?”

“Small and pale, with black hair and gentle eyes. The cute type.”

Small and pale, with black hair, gentle eyes, and cute.

Anyone could tell those words described Kim Jihwan. The fact that those words had come from Cha Gwonhyeok’s mouth meant Cha Gwonhyeok saw Kim Jihwan that way too.

So you thought Kim Jihwan was cute?

“Haha, don’t recite your own type.”
