Transmigrated as the Side Top used as an Emotional Trash Can - Chapter 39.1
A sudden sense of wrongness came over me, and I wanted to leap out of my seat immediately and look over at all the people in the cafeteria who continued staring intently at us. But I had a feeling that something bad would happen if I turned around now and made eye contact with them.
I didn’t know why. I simply had that thought. For now, I decided to remain calm. I put on an unruffled expression and spoke to the others.
“Guys, what did we order again?”
“Didn’t we come here to eat bingsu?”
“Hey, you’re the one who dragged us here.”
Fortunately, Kim Jihwan and Cha Gwonhyeok seemed to be in their right minds.
I looked around again.
“This exhibition was truly wonderful.”
“No, so my husband-.”
Everyone was having ordinary conversations, sitting down and enjoying their drinks and leisure as though nothing had happened. The longer that peacefulness continued, the more tense I became. It made me think they were things wearing human skins. Everyone opened their mouths and spoke, but I couldn’t see inside any of their mouths. They were simply black.
It seemed the ‘Creepypasta Fragment’ was an item that transferred me into a ‘creepypasta’ world. Judging by the word ‘fragment’ at the end and the timer, it wasn’t a complete transfer, but a brief one with a time limit. What did ‘head’ mean?
I raised my hand and needlessly fiddled with my hair.
“Why? Is it poking your eyes?”
Cha Gwonhyeok asked when he saw me. I casually replied that it seemed about time for a haircut and asked whether he had any style recommendations.
“I think long hair would suit you too.”
J recommended that I grow my hair out.
“Thanks, but I don’t think long hair would suit me as well as it suits you.”
I looked enviously at J’s long, luxuriant black hair, which fell all the way over the tops of his feet.
“Hanrim-ie, even the way you speak is so lovely.”
J bared his teeth and cackled loudly enough to split my eardrums, and I found it so adorable… Adorable?
“Who are you?”
Kim Jihwan snapped sharply at J, sounding wary.
Without answering Kim Jihwan’s question, J naturally stood up, opened the window, and jumped out.
“Crazy! What are you…!”
“What the hell?!”
Kim Jihwan and I were startled by J suddenly jumping out and looked through the window. Outside, there wasn’t even a corpse from the fall. It showed only an ordinary, peaceful summer day.
“Hey, Baek Hanrim, who the fuck was that bastard?”
“I don’t know. He said he was J… No, I think I already knew he was J.”
Kim Jihwan and I exchanged bewildered words, unable to believe what had just happened. Cha Gwonhyeok remained seated, holding his phone and quietly thinking for a moment before speaking.
“I naturally thought his name was J too. Jihwan-ah, you didn’t know who that person was?”
“No. He suddenly came over, sat down, and started talking to you two.”
I suddenly realized that this was one of the patterns found in creepypastas. Rather than openly killing someone or having a creature leap out and cause an incident to create dramatic tension, it was a genre that stimulated the imagination through subtler mysteries.
Personally, it was better than ghosts or curses, but it was a troublesome genre where it was difficult to distinguish truth from lies unless you stayed completely alert.
“Let’s get out of here first.”
Seriously, if it was going to do this, it should have quietly dragged only me into it. What had these two done wrong? In creepypastas that made you accept something nonsensical as common sense and believe nonexistent people were real, leaving the location was the best option.
“Fuck the bingsu.”
Kim Jihwan stood up as though agreeing with my suggestion that we leave.
Let’s go somewhere safe and quiet. Kim Jihwan and I placed our feet on the windowsill J had opened and jumped through. There was a perfectly functional door behind us, but I felt certain that this was the correct way to leave.
“Where are you going?”
Cha Gwonhyeok, who had been fiddling with his phone, pulled Kim Jihwan and me away from the window.
“Huh? Why was I trying to go through the window…?”
Kim Jihwan muttered in a slight daze, like someone waking from hypnosis. I was also somewhat dazed. Kim Jihwan and I had been bewitched into naturally believing that we were supposed to leave through the window.
“It got us again….”
The unending string of creepypasta attacks made me dizzy for a moment.
Wow, this really feels like it could drive me insane.
