I checked the information I had heard from Cha Gwonhyeok once more.

Cha Gwonhyeok hadn’t bullied Kim Byeongjun. However, he was acquainted with the group that had bullied Kim Byeongjun.

“I only knew him in passing from middle school. The kid who bullied Kim Byeongjun.”

“You said he was in Class 5, but dropped out at the beginning of the semester.”

“Right.”

The person who had bullied Kim Byeongjun wasn’t inside the school. He was outside it. He had dropped out long ago and had been roaming around outside. That was why the students at school hadn’t even suspected what kind of bullying Kim Byeongjun was enduring.

“Apparently, he sometimes snuck into school to eat.”

“Well, he wouldn’t have stood out if he wore a uniform.”

Even as I spoke, I felt strange. I understood how Kim Byeongjun’s abuser had bullied him. But….

“Why would a kid like that use my photos….”

I couldn’t quite understand why he had bullied me too. And he had even carried out that attack on Kim Jihwan’s gym uniform? Had accidentally using the Affection Level Increase Coupons made him desperate?

“I didn’t talk to him much either. I actually talked to Kim Byeongjun more.”

“Some kids said they saw you going somewhere with Kim Byeongjun.”

“He used to make Kim Byeongjun call me to this hideout.”

That meant he had treated Kim Byeongjun like an errand boy. He had even made Byeongjun take photographs, so ordering him to do things like that didn’t seem particularly surprising.

“He said he’d show me something fun with Kim Byeongjun if I came here.”

‘Something fun.’ Did he mean bullying him? It sounded as though he had shown off by doing something like that.

“Did you join in with bullying Byeongjun too?”

I found a suitably sized, solid-looking piece of rock, gripped it in my hand, and repeatedly tossed it into the air and caught it.

“I’ve never actually come here. Once, he even tried to make Kim Byeongjun bring me here, but I had to go to the Drama Club, so I sent Kim Byeongjun alone and left.”

Ah, so that was why he had been late that time. After roughly fitting the puzzle pieces together in my head, I threw the rock at the window.

Crash!

A commotion came from inside the brightly lit room, and the window soon opened.

“Which bastard did that!”

I checked the person who opened the window and shouted with slurred speech, along with the two people behind him.

Three in total.

That wasn’t very many.

“Fuuuck! You bastard…. Did you break the window?”

“Yeah.”

“You’re fucking dead. Stay right there!”

As the guy and his friends rushed outside as though the building were on fire, I waited quietly and organized my thoughts. If I wanted the police to investigate them, it would be better if I got hit at least once first. Where would it hurt the least?

“Oh, there are coupons.”

Inside the now-empty room, I spotted two Affection Level Increase Coupons lying amid the mess beside countless butane gas canisters. Right, if I had those….

“Gwonhyeok-ah, hold one of them. I’ll deal with the other two somehow. Once I go inside the house, run as far away as you can.”

I turned to Cha Gwonhyeok as I spoke. Cha Gwonhyeok didn’t ask why and merely nodded.

“Get over here, you bastard!”

The three of them rushed out in a frenzy, holding a baseball bat, a broken wooden club, and a threatening-looking knife.

“Take the one with the wooden club.”

With that brief instruction, I closed in on the waist of the guy charging at me with the knife and slammed him straight into the ground.

Crash! Clang!

“Aagh!”

I quickly stood, picked up the knife from the ground, and threw it over the wall. The knife landed far away with a clatter-! The weapon that posed the greatest risk was gone. Now I only needed to block the blunt weapons.

Then I saw the baseball bat swinging directly at me.

I forcefully rammed it with my helmeted head.

Clang!

“Fuck…!”

The guy staggered when the baseball bat he had swung with all his strength struck the hard helmet and sent the impact back through his wrist.

Thud!

I headbutted the off-balance opponent in the solar plexus. Didn’t they say you fought with your head? I used my head for both defense and offense.

“…Hrk….”

Thump….

The guy who had taken a direct hit to the solar plexus writhed on the ground, unable to breathe.

“You really do look like you’re in danger.”

Behind me, Cha Gwonhyeok spoke in a murmur while firmly restraining the guy holding the wooden club, just as I had asked. I couldn’t die anyway, so there was nothing dangerous about it. I had no obligation to tell him that either.

“Just run far away. You’ll get hurt.”

Without wasting any more time on them, I quickly entered the house and locked the front door first. The people using this place as a hideout were still too disoriented to even think of entering the house.
