Transmigrated as the Side Top used as an Emotional Trash Can - Chapter 67.2
“Why, because the timing doesn’t work?”
“That too, and if someone suddenly ran, how could you not chase them? You’d at least follow them with your eyes.”
I didn’t know why, but energetic teenage boys generally had some kind of instinct to sprint. If someone beside them started running, they ran too. If someone suddenly ran away, they chased them. There was no reason. They just ran because someone else was running. Was it a hunting instinct?
“And kids were blocking both the front and back doors while coming into class.”
“Ha… Someone really went out of their way to fuck me over….”
Kwon Jayoon cursed and lowered his head.
I carefully studied his face.
“What are you looking at….”
When I stared at him, Kwon Jayoon frowned and turned his whole body away. I grabbed his shoulder, turned him back toward me, and looked directly at him as I asked.
“But is what happened in middle school a famous story?”
“Huh?”
“I only heard about it for the first time today.”
“You never care about rumors in the first place….”
That was true.
I was busy enough paying attention to Jihwan. How was I supposed to keep track of every little story about all the other kids? I didn’t even know most of the rumors about myself. People generally didn’t talk about rumors in front of the person involved either.
“Whenever something like this happened, were you always the first one people accused?”
“Sometimes in middle school. But this is the first time in high school.”
I traced my memories backward and recalled what the murmuring kids had said. Then one kid who had been saying something different from everyone else immediately came to mind.
“How many kids in our class went to the same middle school as you?”
Kwon Jayoon answered, and I got a feeling.
After a brief discussion and agreement, we flung open the rooftop door.
The kids who had been staring toward the blackboard with pale faces grotesquely turned only their heads toward the sound, like owls, and looked at me.
“The sinner has come!”
“The fires of hell await you!”
“Pay for your sins, you filthy criminal!”
“You rat spreading pestilence!”
Their mouths opened so wide their jaws looked ready to dislocate, and their grotesquely black eyes poured out accusations. They looked like dead things mounted for display, forcibly moving nothing but their jaw joints.
“Guys! What are you going to do if we find the real culprit instead of Jayoon?”
I shouted in front of them.
The kids stirred for a moment, then began giving answers to my question one by one.
“Did we not say that too would be God’s providence.”
“Has he not already confessed his sin with his own mouth?”
“Regardless of who the true culprit may be, only blood spilled in the square will now calm the people.”
Cutting through their divided opinions came the heavy voice of the executioner.
“Are you the sinner.”
The fiery shouting of the crowd filling the classroom instantly ceased.
Creeeak- Screeech-.
The sound of a heavy mass of metal scraping across the wooden classroom floor drew closer with tremendous weight. Every time that chilling metallic sound came one step nearer, the back of my exposed neck prickled for no reason.
“Jayoon-ah, is that your classmate from middle school?”
Kwon Jayoon hid behind my back with a tense expression and nodded desperately. I pointed at one kid and spoke to the executioner.
“That kid was inciting everyone from the back.”
“Ugh…!”
The kid caught at the tip of my finger flinched and trembled.
Most of the kids and the executioner turned only their heads to stare at him.
‘He got protective disposition in middle school too for robbing a store.’
‘I heard his dad has a criminal record too.’
‘You can’t reason with him. Don’t bother trying to talk to him.’
The source of the sense of déjà vu I had been feeling.
The owner of that sly voice that had blended into the crowd and manipulated public opinion with great subtlety. While everyone else had been condemning Kwon Jayoon without any context, he alone had been producing new information.
“He framed….”
Thud!
The executioner hurled the axe directly into the center of the kid’s forehead.
“…Ah.”
Thump.
No one cared about my defense. The accused kid wasn’t even given a chance to make an excuse. He collapsed helplessly onto the floor, forming a pool of blood. Everyone smiled in satisfaction.
Everyone except Kwon Jayoon and me.
You have reached the end of the creepypasta within the time limit.
The Neck purrs in satisfaction.

“The affection penalty is pretty huge, though….”
The reason I had gone as far as confessing that I loved and liked even the bifidobacteria in yogurt was all because of that ominous penalty.
“When it was x2, it went up six percent over three years.”
That was right.
The affection level had been rising strangely slowly ever since the ‘zombie story.’
What if that had actually been because of the penalty?
