That couldn’t be right.

Baek Hanrim had definitely sat beside Kim Jihwan for all three years in the original novel…. When I took out my phone and checked the class assignment message again, it was written there clearly.

[Class 1-2]

“Huh? I’m in Class 2?”

This was Class 1-12.

Kim Jihwan and I had been placed so far apart that we would even be using completely different buildings.

“Why am I in Class 2….”

After school, I safely deposited Kim Jihwan at home, then sat alone on a park bench and muttered to myself.

“Did something change? Maybe I just don’t remember….”

My thoughts grew tangled, and I needlessly pressed down on the corners of the apple juice carton in my hand.

Being in classrooms a little farther apart wasn’t a serious problem. As long as I coordinated our elective classes properly, I could keep seeing him regularly. Even if we used different buildings, I could visit him during lunch and breaks. As long as we attended the same school, there were plenty of ways for me to stay beside Kim Jihwan.

But didn’t this situation feel… really unsettling?

“Haa, I can’t remember…. Was there an event like this?”

I was now seventeen years old in Baek Hanrim’s body. How clearly could I possibly remember the contents of a novel I had only read once?

“If only I’d been an otaku for the original novel. Then I’d know every setting and have every event memorized.”

Couldn’t I remember something like the winning lottery numbers? Bitcoin would be good too. Since this was a BL novel, should I buy some stock in the obsessive main top’s company? But which company belonged to the obsessive main top again?

“Ah- I don’t know anything….”

All I knew was Kim Jihwan’s future, the novel’s ending, and a few major events.

Ah, I knew Baek Hanrim’s future too.

The ending where he remained alone and faithfully celibate for the rest of his life.

“Well, I’ll probably manage somehow this time too.”

I hadn’t died just because we were a little farther apart, like when he was all the way out there in Boracay, so I probably wouldn’t die immediately just because our classrooms were separated.

“Even if I die, I can come back to life, so it’ll be fine.”

The cool sun of early March sank toward the horizon, dyeing the sky crimson. As I watched the cluster of light slowly melt behind the ridge, drowsiness washed over me.

“It’ll be fine… I’m fine….”

I comforted myself and closed my eyes for a little while.

“…I found him. He’s just sleeping.”

I was in the middle of dozing when the sound of someone talking on the phone woke me. Sleeping, could they be talking about me…?

“Hm?”

When I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was the neighborhood’s social-butterfly cat loafing on my lap. No wonder I had felt so warm. When had it climbed up here?

“Well, aren’t you fearless?”

I stroked its pleasantly plump, soft body, then lifted it and tried to move it aside. That was when I noticed someone sitting beside me. Since he was holding a phone, he seemed to be the owner of the voice I had heard.

“Oh, hello?”

I placed the cat on the other person’s lap and greeted him amiably, but he merely stared at me without answering. Maybe that was only natural because he was on the phone. I gave him a slight bow and was about to leave when-

“Oh!”

Behind the man was a heavy yet sensual, streamlined motorcycle that looked like a middleweight model or larger at a glance. It boasted a matte, all-black body, and I could already imagine the engine growling powerfully and sending deep vibrations through the frame when it started. My eyes lit up on their own.

“Wow, are you the owner? Could I take a quick look?”

In my original world, I had worked as a mechanic for a while. I had majored in computer engineering, but I was also interested in automotive engineering, so I took a leave of absence and worked in the field for several years. Because of that, I was naturally very interested in vehicles.

“You can say no if it makes you uncomfortable.”

At my words, the guy leaned back against the bench and tilted his head. It wasn’t a refusal. It was permission.

“This is a D*cati, right? You even customized it. This must’ve cost a lot. Wow, you replaced this part with carbon too? You must’ve put a lot of effort into reducing the unsprung mass. The weight reduction must feel incredible, right?”

I circled the motorcycle and chattered without stopping, but he remained silent. Even so, there was something about his air. He seemed strangely proud.

“This is an older model, right? Isn’t the rattling sound of the dry clutch seriously sexy?”

“Yeah.”

The man answered without thinking, then firmly shut his mouth, apparently startled by his own response. He then told the person on the phone that it was nothing and insisted that he had been listening carefully. He hadn’t said anything, so I thought he had already ended the call. Maybe I shouldn’t have spoken to him. It sounded like the person on the other end was scolding him.

“Anyway… you’ve taken really good care of it.”

I wanted to ask whether I could ride it, but that seemed like crossing the line, so I swallowed the question and merely fiddled with the handlebar for a moment before letting go.

“Thanks for letting me look, hyung! I’m done now, so I’ll get going! Thank you!”

“Meow-.”

The cat said goodbye in the man’s place. Judging by the way his gaze kept following me, it seemed as though he had something to say. But night would fall soon, and the man was still on the phone, so I turned and walked away.

I’d like to touch you again if I ever get the chance, D*cati.
