Wrong Genre! - Chapter 20.1
Splash, splash.
With his eyes closed, Rueg’s fingertips twitched slightly at the sound echoing in his ears.
As his eyelids fluttered and he began to regain consciousness, he heard water trickling nearby. At the same time, warm water flowed over his shoulder, bringing a ticklish sensation.
“Mmm…”
He couldn’t quite make out what he was feeling.
He knew he should open his eyes, but the cozy, warm sensation was so pleasant that he wanted to stay like this.
‘But… it isn’t exactly soft…’
Felix’s bed in his room had been incredibly soft. Right now, though, what he was lying on felt more firm than soft, and in some ways, almost springy…
“…Mm?”
Still keeping his eyes closed, Rueg moved his hands and felt around in front of him.
What he touched with his fingertips was smooth, but it didn’t have the delicate sensation of a blanket.
It felt more like touching someone’s skin.
There was something rounded, like a mound, that he couldn’t cover with just one hand.
Pat, pat.
…What is this?
As Rueg, full of confusion, kept fumbling with what he was touching—
“I’d prefer if you stopped groping that place.”
“……?”
A voice came from above his head.
Rueg tilted his head in confusion, and a low chuckle followed. Soon, a large hand landed gently on his head.
At that moment, Rueg finally opened his eyes at the damp feeling in his hair… and realized he was in the bathroom.
“…W-What?”
Rueg’s eyes went wide as he looked around.
Why am I in the bath?
But even more attention-grabbing was the fact that he was being held in Felix’s arms.
“Are you finally awake?”
“Y-Your Highness? Wh-why am I here…?!”
Startled, Rueg shouted, his eyes even wider.
He remembered seeing Felix’s face in the bushes at the far end of the palace, and then passing out almost immediately afterward…
“Maybe start with what you’re doing with your hands.”
“…Huh?”
At the word ‘hands’, Rueg finally looked down and realized what he was touching.
It was something not exactly soft, but somewhat firm, with a certain roundness…
Felix’s chest.
“…Aaaah! I’m sorry!”
He hurriedly pulled his hand away and covered his face, but Felix simply laughed heartily and ran his wet hand through Rueg’s hair.
“If you can scream like that, it seems you’re okay.”
Still in a panic, Rueg instinctively held his breath as he looked at Felix.
With cheeks flushed from the hot water, black hair slicked back, a smooth forehead, and a strikingly handsome face fully revealed.
‘S-So handsome…’
Startled by his own wandering thoughts, Rueg forced himself to speak as calmly as possible.
“Why… am I here, anyway… No, why am I on Your Highness’s lap…!”
He wanted to sound calm, but the more he tried, the stranger things became.
He was sitting in the bath wearing only a thin robe that was almost see-through, and he was in Felix’s arms!
Trying to make sense of this incomprehensible situation from top to bottom, Rueg tried to wriggle free from Felix’s embrace. But Felix held him by the waist and spoke.
“I know you’re surprised, but stay still. You’re in a medicinal bath.”
“…A medicinal bath?”
“Yes. You were a lot more injured than I thought…”
Felix seemed about to say something more, but then closed his mouth.
Rueg thought he understood what Felix wasn’t saying, so he obediently stayed in his arms.
For some reason, his heart felt warm and fuzzy.
Someone caring for him like this, and running to save him…
Even…
“Sleep well, Rueg.”
Even in his faint memories, Felix had called him by name.
Embarrassed and fidgety, Rueg let Felix gently guide his head to rest against his chest as if telling him to get comfortable.
“Um… thank you for coming to save me.”
“……”
“But how did you know where I was? It didn’t seem like a place people would normally go…”
Was it that dazzling, mysterious power that led him there?
If so, there was something else he was curious about.
The white motes of light that had gathered in his own hands. That phenomenon always seemed to happen when Felix used his strange powers, but now it had happened to him too.
